This video has good information which is hard to find on this trans. I am planning on doing a partial fluid change soon as my truck gets to 50,000 hope that will keep it from having problems later.😛
Another good video I found on the transmission that was a big help. www.google.com/search?q=2021+nissan+titan+transmission+drain+and+fill+procedure&rlz=1C1GCEB_enUS1054US1054&oq=2021+Nissan+Titan+Transmission+drain+and+f&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUqBwgDECEYoAEyBggAEEUYOTIHCAEQIRigATIHCAIQIRigATIHCAMQIRigATIHCAQQIRigATIHCAUQIRigATIHCAYQIRirAtIBCjI1ODA2ajBqMTWoAgiwAgE&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:eb679d0f,vid:OFlzuuxtYfw,st:0
Thanks for this video and information. My only request would have been to include video in the beginning of the issue. To demonstrate the problem. Over all a very good video. Thanks for the content.
I am so stressed out about my brand new transmission of my brand new 2023 Titan P4X after seeing this video. I feel like I need to get the OEM fluid out of the system asap and replace with a Mercedes spec fluid. But it seems like a huge pain in the behind to get it flushed and replaced. I need help.
Great video very well done and it is informative. I have a 23 Frontier, man love the truck, but the goofy acting transmission...wonder if it is the same problem??
It could be the same problem. These nissan transmissions are horrible, and the frontiers were also subject to the issues. I would go to the dealer since you still have warranty and have them check it out. Although the dealer may not tell you the truth and may say that it is your fault when it's really not 😐.
I just bought a 2021 pro 4.when it’s cold it spins the back tires changing gears like it has a shift kit.dont know what to do because its my only transportation.
www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BNWWBP31/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Above is the link to the tool kit for draining and filling. If you have trouble accessing the link, it's on Amazon. Type 9 speed automatic transmission drain tools for mercedes. Mercedes-Nissan are connected and have the same transmission, so tools are compatible with each other. You can make a fill device on your own like we did. Simply buy a pump like in the video, and from home depot, buy a clear tube and valve to open and close to control the flow of the new oil. Use a lighter heat up the tube to make it slide into the valve and pump easier.
I'm surprised you have this made in America truck out in polska, do you have good support from any mechanics besides the dealer? Last time I was there I didn't see many Japanese brands outside of Warsaw 🤷
You dont have to check you atf level with the engine running? In my Toyota venza it has to be the engine running when you level the trans fluid. Just wondering
@Mach141 you don't have to buy nissan fluid you can buy atf, you or I didn't build nissan jatco transmissions the manufacturer built them, from what I understood nissan saids to change at 30k miles if you are abusing the transmission towing dusty conditions stop and go city driving 50k max for highway driving not a lot of stop and go, in my recent cars I've always changed ny transmission fluid at 30k miles and never had issues take that as you will.
I shared this on a Facebook group Nissan Titan(2016-2024) hopefully it helps owners out. I really wanted to purchase a 22 or 23 Titan but now I’m not sure. Do you think all 2020 -2024 will have this problem Eventually?Maybe this is why they stopped the production of the Titan and have a great warranty.
The most reports of this issue were on the 2020-21 titan maybe they fixed this issue. I think the titan just doesn't interest people too much which is why they are discontinuing it. And if they have a good warranty, they usually means they are confident in their products so I dont think this problem is why they have a good warranty
I have noticed a similar problem with our titan. Is it constant jerking or just a one time jump? I would definitely take it to the dealer and take advantage of that nice warranty
Wow! And I was thinking of jumping on to them new Nissan frontier. I'm actually a Toyota fan, but with issues there having, I'm thinking of going different.
We bought ours at the nissan dealership. You can go there and they should be able to help you. Nissan has good prices on parts, so they might not be too expensive.
Finding your channel probably just saved me about 8K. Thank you, and I am subscribing.
I'm glad I was able to help! Thank you for subscribing!

I understand, I have a 23 Frontier and the wonky acting transmission too ,I wonder if it would work on it?
Wow that fluid is very dark, maybe more frequent changes would help...

So what exactly did you replace that was broken? Tcm? I know Nissan had a warranty update on it
Yes the tcm control module
Thank you for the video, and showing us the process step by step. Very helpfull!
I'm glad I was able to help! It's a good truck, but it has its issues.

What OBD scan tool were you using and do you recommend it?
It's a LAUNCH OBD scanner it's a very good scanner, especially for the price it was around $200-$250. I highly recommend it.
Any idea if this fix completely cures harsh downshifting when stopping at intersections?
Honestly, we have never experienced that with our titan, so I wouldn't be able to tell you.
Check recalls.
Thanks hope I don’t have to do this but great info. Much appreciated!
Hey i have the same issue i ordered all the valve body and seals but im having a hard time getting the drain and fill tools how did you get them ?

No problem! Just out of curiosity, how many miles and what year is your titan?
@@contractorhomes problem started at 117 it has 141 now 2020 titan s
Looks like all this is happening just after warranty expires
I'm surprised you have this made in America truck out in polska, do you have good support from any mechanics besides the dealer? Last time I was there I didn't see many Japanese brands outside of Warsaw 🤷
Not too many mechanics know things about the titan, which is really disappointing

Impossible to check transmission oil in 2020 titan. Has zero dipstick and zero plugs other than the drain.
Did you chsnge your transmission fluid every 30,000 miles? That couks be the problem
Yes
@Mach141 changing your transmission oil set by the manufacturer isn't important really? Yea it could have a lot to do with it
@Mach141 you don't have to buy nissan fluid you can buy atf, you or I didn't build nissan jatco transmissions the manufacturer built them, from what I understood nissan saids to change at 30k miles if you are abusing the transmission towing dusty conditions stop and go city driving 50k max for highway driving not a lot of stop and go, in my recent cars I've always changed ny transmission fluid at 30k miles and never had issues take that as you will.
@Mach141 but you can read the owners manual for more info they built the thing they know what their talking about

Thanks for your feedback really appreciate it !What was your warranty on the truck back in 2020?
My warranty was 5 years 100k miles. The truck has 112k miles now so warranty is expired
How much Nissan charge you for the control unit ?
You can buy a new one for 1k
@@contractorhomeswhere?
any issues with transmission after this fix?
No issues at all! Drives perfect, and It looks like that was the issue for our Titan.
why did nissan design it so that you have to fill it from the bottom?
Unfortunately I dont have an answer to that
because the jatco 9 speed is based on the mercedes 9g tronic
All newer vehicles are like this. They want to force you to a garage/dealer because it is now more difficult for the do it yourselfer
@@Mach141 yeah but is not that hard to do , the tool kit , plus a hand pump only goes for around $30
@@orlandoduran7740 I know that, but many will not bother
I have a 23 titan with 5k miles and it jerks at around 20mph when you let go of the accelerator

Same here on my 21’ titan. Were you able to cover it under warranty?
Wow! And I was thinking of jumping on to them new Nissan frontier. I'm actually a Toyota fan, but with issues there having, I'm thinking of going different.
Where do you find the tool?
On Amazon or ebay
You never changed the oil right?
Incorrect
How many miles? Do you tow?
111k miles, and we don't tow
That's longer than GM 460LE will last@@contractorhomes
@@dennisdewald6729 I agree, we had a gm before it was garbage
Can you send me the links for the plug removal and the drain/fill tube ?

This is for 2023 also?
Yes
Should have flushed old fluid more before taking apart.
After we replaced the part, we did a complete transmission fluid flush. We flushed it through the radiator.
Ps my Frontier only has 22324 miles
