I'm sorry but how did you frame the horizontal pipe against the wall? I saw the finish product vs how its framed but the framing doesn't make sense. 24:51 to 25:03. What is the drywall attached to? I'm in a similar predicament.

Wrong use mesh tape

The point of mesh tape is so it embeds inside the thinset, that paper tape is going to just be on top of the compound because you around top coating it. And if you do, it’s going to take a lot more compound to flatten out your joints.

Unfortunately its hundred percent wrong for shower areas to do such things there's a specific materials that its has to be used for tha specific locations.

Not filling joints before taping makes the joints crack later. It's definitely faster, but it's not better.

What are the benefits to taping and mudding cement board joints before water proofing? Is that regular drywall mud or is it a special kind? That banjo looks like a slick tool to use.

I hate islands in the middle of galley kitchens you are constantly running around that damn island trying to get everything you need to cook. the pantry is always on the other side of the sink or stove and if you forget something there you go another trip around the island.
