Was *so* happy that Extreme got back together. Caught this show last night (and in SF earlier on the tour) Living Color was a pleasant surprise. Gary needs a bigger stage to strut around on and Nuno is 🔥
Doug Wimbish is their second bassist coming in on their 3rd album replacing Muz Skillings. He had previously played on Jeff Becks album Flash and had toured with Beck for a couple of years so he was a big get for them when Skillings left.
So I have seen this tour twice. My humble opinion is that Extreme are really talented dudes. All four members are good at what they do but they are NOT good songwriters. They struck gold with More Than Words, Hole Hearted, Rest in Peace and even Get the Funk Out. But they are just not very adept at writing a good number of really good songs. Living Colour both times put on a great show and are proving how underrated they are. My only criticism of them is that they spend too much time placating Doug Wimbish with the 50 years of hip hop set. The time they use playing to tracks of hip hop classics they could instead play a couple Living Colour songs!!! That would be better! Overall its a great tour of Hard Rock and Roll and a cool trip down memory lane.
Yeah the seats on the floor were probably 70% full. The general admission area which is pretty large was probably 60% full on the show started and 20% full by the end. I know for a fact they gave away a lot of free tickets
I’ve never seen them but I did get to see Van Halen when Gary was with them and he was an awesome front man. I did have the first and second Extreme albums but my interest kinda faded after that. I’ve heard a few songs off their last couple of albums and they were pretty good.
Ive seen Extreme multiple times in Sydney and Ill simply say they are fantastic to watch live. Yes Nuno is amazing but the band as a whole is great and they put their heart into each performance - and its awesome that they are still producing new music. They did give Nuno guitarist and solo of the year in 2023... whats that all about if they are so average ? And what is the relevance of calling this an `HONEST` review ? Its just a review - each person is welcome to your view. But dont make out that its something special.
I admire Extreme for their tenacity but they (Gary/Nuno) will always live under the huge shadows of Eddie/DLR, Axl/Slash, and even Jon/Ritchie's 1-2 punch. Mostly because of their lack of consistent hits and good deep cuts.
Extreme lacks the material. Nuno is next level…and doesn’t matter. I literally left the show because the material was that bad. Gary is a good frontman and singer too…the material is weak. I’d even take Living Colours set, but missed it unfortunately.
Couldn't agree more. Lots of talent in the band for sure, but I just don't like their overall sound that much and they definitely don't have a single song that really grabs me. How and why they are bigger than Living Colour I will never understand....
Living Colour opening up for Extreme??????? Laughable. Extreme isn't even in the same universe as Living Colour, and despite how great everyone thinks Nuno Bettencourt is... he is MILES away from Vernon Reid. MILES.

I caught Madonna earlier this week in SF- one of the better stage productions I've ever seen in an arena show. See what you think in your review.
I was at the show in Vegas as well! Corey Glovers voice was outstanding! Extreme Rocked, but Glovers voice stood out!
Doug Wimbish isn't the original bassist. Muzz Skillings is.

Great review! Spot on about Extreme.
Thanks for listening

Agreed
Living Colour blew Extreme off the stage at Bergen PAC back in Janaury.
Did you say the floor was empty? Dallas was so packed you could t move.

You really shouldn’t accuse anyone of doing cocaine. Thats kinda crappy.

Agreed... they were never able to write an epic rock hit.
nothing positive about EXTREME..
You don't know who Wimbush is?! Or, Muzz?! Jesus, hahahaha!!!! You have zero credibility.
I Never claimed to have any credibility at all haha.. I often say in my reviews that I don't... Thanks for listening

You might as well compare apples to bowling balls.
Living Colour played at Epcot for free last year. They ain't all that.
@@WhatLisaLoves I don't care about your opinion, female.
@@BenMochan5000 Oh you classy!
Vernon Reid is good but Nuno is a much better guitar player.
