When I took my mother to Vegas for her 50th birthday a couple years ago we ended up seeing all kinds of shows. Out of all the concert/singing related shows, Donny Osmond’s was hands down our favorite. I knew she’d enjoy his show since she’s loved him all her life, but as a millennial that obviously isn’t his core audience, I was absolutely floored by him. I’d personally give him a at least a 9.5/10. I’d see him again if I were to go back to Vegas.
Like Michael Jackson, Donny Osmond was a child star singer at the highest level, he could sing rock, pop, ballads, barbershop quartet etc., he should never be underestimated for his immense talent.
This makes me very happy to hear. He still looks great, got it totally going on, and I've never heard anything negative about him in over fifty years. Thanks for posting!!!
Donny Osmond comes from a time when entertainers were actually entertainers! You may not be a fan of of his music but the guy is mega talented and just a terrific entertainer!

Excellent review. I was recently in Vegas for a work thing and debated going to a show the last night I was there. Donny Osmond's show was in the next hotel over, so I looked for reviews and found yours. I too thought it would be a cheesy, cringey experience, but it was hands-down the best thing I did on that trip. Well worth the money I paid, and it put me in a good mood for days! Appreciated your honesty and detail. Thanks!
Donny and Marie were something that my annoying sister and my grandmother watched together. His hits were really, really old. I only wanted to see this show because it would annoy a friend who got an online beatdown when he complained "who cares about this has been?" Boy, was I wrong! The show was a blast. He's in fine voice and not only keeps up with his far-younger dancers, but does a lot more of it, overall, than they do! And that life-story rap? HOLY COW! So, long story long, I agree with you. This is a must-see. In fact, I'm hoping to see it again, very, very soon.
Actually, entertaining is not all he’s done. Years ago, MIX magazine did an excellent interview with him about his analog tape restoration studio in Los Angeles. He’s actually quite a techno nerd also. Before digital recordings, there were analog tapes used for recording music, film and just about everything. When those tapes get old, they have to be put in special ovens at very low temperature to be restored at which point the information is transferred to computers. It’s quite an art and Donny knows how to do it. He’s as smart as he is talented.
I saw him in San Antonio this summer. I’m a fan, but did not except how fun this show is. I love your comment that if you’re a fan the show is 100 out of 10. That’s the truth! My husband, who graciously went with me, is not a fan, but is a musician, said he enjoyed the show and now has respect for Donny, the Entertainer. (We’re both about Donny’s age.) GREAT show!
As human beings we ALL make judgments and assumptions about EVERYTHING around us. This review was extremely refreshing. I LOVE IT when my judgments and assumptions are wrong or misguided. It's a club I want to be a member of!

Great detailed review of Donny's Vegas show! I've been 3 times and plan to go this Spring, as I go once a year to see him. I love the show! Have seen him in concert in the 70s with his family and again as a solo act several times, three times to Donny & Marie's show and he just gets better with time. I have never seen Donny lip sync in any shows. He is a legend in his own time. Thank you for giving him the credit that is due him in this show.
I see his show everytime he brings it to my area. Which has been almost yearly. Donny is pretty good about trying to keep the show fresh. You are right. He is an Entertainer. The last of the great ones.
Ha. I've never heard of your reviews until I stumbled across this and listened to the whole thing. Very good. I'm going to be 65 myself, soon, and grew up in the same era as Donny Osmond. Anytime I have seen him in an interview, I have been super impressed with who this guy is and especially after hearing everything he has been through. Immense respect. So I am glad to hear that even someone whose first inclination was to rag on the guy, came away as impressed as you were. I'm glad to hear that he puts on a great show. Cheers.

He has so much talent, an incredible voice, great dancer, funny as can be etc. He KNOWS what he is doing, and he is great at it. Thoroughly entertaining, well worth the $200 bucks. (I wish the tickets were as cheap as you quoted). I need to plan another trip to see him again. Next time you go, you will enjoy it even more. And you will probably compare other shows to his and realize they don't have what he does, and they never will. He's a true entertainer & legend.
@@JoeInVegasReviews Just an FYI. He definitely sings live during all of the dance numbers. The only thing he does that comes close to lip syncing is during the request segment. But that is singing along with the old recordings since he doesn't always remember the words. I challenge you to go again just to make sure. hehe.

I was a kid in the 70's, bought Tiger Beat magazine - but never, ever got into the Osmonds or Donny. However, as he's aged, I adore the man. Although his stuff isn't my style, I admire him as a good man and great talent.
I've seen Donny with his brothers and sister throughout the years , different venues Broadway, concerts, etc It's a shame you never saw the flamingo Donny and Marie Vegas show. They were there for 11 years. One of the nicest celebrities you will ever meet. Completely humble , down to earth guy. He has been given the name the nicest guy in show Business by other celebrities as well. Donny fought very hard over the years to break that silly stigma that people have about his family because of his religion. No drinking, no drugs. No cheating . Decent family values. Married for 45 years , 5 children. 14 Grandchildren. Donny treats his fans like family. Extremely talented man. Singing , dancing, musician. All of the brothers play about 28 different instruments. Incredibly talented family . Donny is also a computer wiz and self-taught electrician . Some of that is implemented in his shows . These are the reasons he has lasted so long in this challenging , fickle , business. He is caring , genuinely a very kind person, works hard keeping each and every production fresh.😊 ❤ Your review
I think Donny would be thrilled with this review. I think he always fought for respectability. To be taken seriously. And I think there were times it was difficult when he was younger navigating his way. A lot more difficult. And it’s wonderful to see it all come together and how it all worked out and now we can just showcase his abilities. A fabulous famous show in the traditional sense. And seems like a very nice guy and a very nice star to his fans. I am not one of the groups of women out there who has his albums. I remember him and his sister a little bit when they had their show but I was knee-high to a grasshopper. I remember how they had hidden his identity for his comeback to be listened to on the radio in the late 80s. He really had to fight for his career at times. The fact that he won you over and did it so well I think would especially delight him and he would appreciate it. This video came up in my feed and now I am a new subscriber. Glad you went out of your comfort zone. It’s always interesting to hear someone won over.
I saw his summer tour as I am unlikely to get to Vegas. I was sitting in the third row and watched closely for lip syncing. At least at the show I attended, he was not ever lip syncing. He does sing along with the albums during that request section and there are some backing tracks used at times on certain songs to fill out parts by his brothers. But he was absolutely singing the whole time at the show I attended. So glad you enjoyed it - I have been a fan for many years!
I saw him in Vegas in January of this year and there is no way he was lip syncing. The theater itself is very intimate and it would be really obvious. He has been performing since he was a little kid and has an incredible voice and charisma. Donny is the real deal!
So the good brother I am, I took my older sisters. I was skeptical, but he is the consummate performer. The rap won me over, recorded it at 8min 42sec. Thought the request section went long as songs audience selected weren’t best. But overall incredibly solid show.
I also saw the Osmonds when they were the opening act for Alan King has Caesars Palace way back then but they all were really young and Marie was just a teenager
I just saw this show last night (Sept 14) and decided afterwards (lol) to see if there were any reviews on TH-cam, so your video was very timely. My impression of the show is pretty much the same as yours... I went in just remembering him from Donny & Marie and the "I'm a little bit rock & roll" song bit. I was very impressed by his singing, his professionalism and his interaction with the (adoring) audience. Like you, I was ready for a cringe-fest when he announced his "auto rapography" but I was floored by the incredible non-stop career he's had since the age of around 4. Singer, TV Show, Broadway, movie songs, celebrity race car driver, game show host, Dancing With The Stars winner, Masked Singer performer, etc, his entertainment career longevity is incredible. The backing band was good, the dancers were good, and the show never felt like it was sputtering out. So in conclusion, if you're a Donny Osmond fan, you'll love the show. If you're indifferent to Donny Osmond, I think you'll still enjoy the show a lot.
I was never a big fan of Donny. I'm a bit older than he was, and he was just a bubble gum act, so I thought. Saw him with Marie about 6 years ago and I was blown away by his talent. I knew he was an all-around entertainer, but what he did at age 60 was incredible. He's still doing it. I'd go back to Vegas just to see him. Never thought I'd say that. I know exactly how Joe in Vegas felt.
Donnie osmond knows how to entertain. I’ve seen him at least nine or 10 times last time I went I went free, but I wouldn’t mind paying for a ticket so entertaining know a lot of the songs. Any seat in there is really good.
“I didn’t even care that it looked like my old drunk uncle rapping at a barbecue” OMG, I’m pissing my pants at that line! I laughed so hard i needed to use my inhaler! 🤣👍
Back in the late 70’s & 80’s I went to several rock concerts from Van Halen, AC/DC, The WHO, Nazareth, ZZ Top, and many more. However I also have to say I’ve been to an Osmond Concert and believe it or not it was the most entertaining out of all the concerts. The light show was amazing the best I’d seen during an inside concert. 🎶
That’s when kids could afford $8 to $20 a ticket… the good old days. And yeah, it was the best light show and performance out of all of them. And that’s after my favorite at the time Nazareth. But then there was the fight in the Seattle King Dome when AC/DC played that was entertaining, but again the best performance I had seen was the Osmond’s. Nevertheless I never saw the Jackson’s and I wish I had.
hey Joe, for us, you are the greatest concert reviewer in the world. I can always depend on you to give an entertaining review without ego or prejudice. You just put Donny Osmond on my list of shows to see. I haven't seen it for a lot of the reasons you mentioned (although being from Utah, he's damn near royalty here). The guy is the consummate pro. I saw him on Broadway in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat years ago and he just commanded that stage.
Funny story about him, Joe. I grew up in the South Shore of Boston and Donnie played at the music circus, which was the local venue in Cohasset, Massachusetts when I was walking down the street Donnie walked right past me as he was headed towards the venue, considering my age, which was about 12 and his status as a celebrity. It was pretty exciting for a kid to see
@@niosanfrancisco yeah I can only imagine. I remember at that age growing up in LA and bumping into celebrities. Plus back then before social media celebrities had more mystery to them. Nowadays they are on every platform showing you exactly what they're doing every single moment. Thanks for sharing and thanks for listening
One reason Joe is so great is that if I'm ever in Vegas I can have confidence in taking clients or family members to a show exactly like this. Hell, Donny Osmond is a tough sell to some.
Been an Osmond fan since 1972, only thing he does that irritates me is when he says he hates singing puppy love, he needs to remember without that song and the fans he wouldnt have the life he has had. Most of his fans grew up with him as their first love crush and his comment disrespects those fans. The last concert i went to he said eveeyone would get a copy of his latest CD at the end of the show, after the crowd applauded and cheered he turned round, laughed and said he was only kidding. When i was leaving the theatre there was an elderly man asking where to get his CD, didnt think that was very nice
I was amazed some years ago when I read that The Osmonds’ jumpsuits - virtually identical to the jumpsuits that Elvis made famous - were indeed designed and made by the late Bill Belew, who made Elvis’s own jumpsuits. Assuming the group had asked Elvis if they could copy his jumpsuits, I was surprised he seemingly gave his (or Colonel Parker’s) ok. Then I later learned that Elvis carried on a letter correspondence with the Osmond family’s matriarch, Olive. Maybe that played a part in it?
You should absolutely go! You can get tickets on websites with vegas in the domain names (just search) that are discounted and there is a wide range of prices/seating available. The theater has both theater-style seating and booths and tables that you might share with other patrons which would get waiter-service for drinks. The best seats will be over $100.00 with discount per ticket but you can get seats in back within $60.00 - $80.00. It also depends on the day you go see him--weekends are more expensive than during the week in Vegas for shows as well as hotels! Enjoy the show!
Have seen him 2x. Once w the meet and greet. Nicest man you will ever meet. Extremely humble. Appreciates every fan and all the people who help him put his show together nightly. He has even taken this show on tour. His fans adore him. Kudos Donny for keeping it real.

The backing band was good, the dancers were good, and the show never felt like it was sputtering out. So in conclusion, if you're a Donny Osmond fan, you'll love the show. If you're indifferent to Donny Osmond, I think you'll still enjoy the show a lot.
Exactly - thanks for listening I appreciate it
I was never a big fan of Donny.
One of the nicest guys in show biz.
Donnie osmond knows how to entertain. I’ve seen him at least nine or 10 times last time I went I went free, but I wouldn’t mind paying for a ticket so entertaining know a lot of the songs. Any seat in there is really good.
@@sallyhelmick9107 agreed
I try to see him when he is near me. I saw him and Marie in 2019. They know what they are doing, he IS the greatest entertainer. GREAT voice too
“I didn’t even care that it looked like my old drunk uncle rapping at a barbecue” OMG, I’m pissing my pants at that line! I laughed so hard i needed to use my inhaler! 🤣👍

Joe, You tell a great story with a compelling intro. Lot's of suspense in your opening. Well done. Thanks.

Donnie's show is wonderful. I have seen him several times.
I toured with Donny back when Soldier of Love was out. He's a talented mo-fo.

Love Donny ❤he delivers a fabulous show been like 40 times he’s amazing!
@@cherylejames4086 he Def does! thanks for listening
Wow... That's a big statement
@JoeInVegasReviews It was a big show, they held nothing back and the audience loved it.
hey Joe, for us, you are the greatest concert reviewer in the world.
@@timma8510 hahah thanks!! I appreciate it. Go.. It's impossible not to like this show
Great review! I’ve seen the Vegas show twice…….LOVE IT!!
@@tamrasavonnecotton9572 thank you and thanks for listening
Dude is a real showman.
The dudes been singing and dancing on stage for half a century. He's an old pro.
True - that time does NOT exist anymore. I sure enjoyed it though!!!
Barry Manilow also. Saw him in 1989 GREAT SHOW
agreed.. Barry is a great show
Funny story about him, Joe.
So well reviewed Joe.
@@piperofsimms thanks so much I appreciate that. And thanks for listening
By the way, in reference to your comment that entertaining is all he knows how to do…Donny is also a master electrician and has been for years.
@@SandyForks cool... Wish I knew his number.. I need an electrician here in vegas lol
One reason Joe is so great is that if I'm ever in Vegas I can have confidence in taking clients or family members to a show exactly like this. Hell, Donny Osmond is a tough sell to some.
Hahaha.. Thanks.. Much appreciated 🤘🤘🙏🙏
I see it twice so far and planning on going back in april
Not a big fan of Donny but he is a legend and I did like Soldier of Love. Enjoyed your review of his show.

You say it doesn’t exist anymore but, there it is. Maybe not in Las Vegas but a lot of parts of the country are still like this.
You’re so right. I grew up in the 70s and entertainment was much more wholesome.
He has a great show
Great honest review. Thanks for posting.
@@pmclellan123 thanks for listening.. I appreciate it.
Saw him 2 month ago and loved his cover of Rage Against the Machine’s “Living in the name of”.
I felt the same way when I saw David Cassidy.
Awesome entertainer.
@@tomtom6319 I saw his second to last show. I think it was before I did reviews. He was great but it was a little sad he seemed really drunk
Great review! I remember “Solider of Love” lol Can’t believe he’s 66.
He gave Danny Bonadouche a run for his money on celebrity boxing. Danny thought it was gonna be a beat down, but actually, it was pretty close. Lol.
He can. Be a good performer and you like his work and it be ok
What about when the audience got to select songs for him to sing? You didn’t mention that and that’s one of the biggest parts of the show.
@@cbd-bychristy4240 of course I Mentioned it..
@@ForgetMeNot2022 lol that a bad joke lol bet he didn't make that joke again lol
Not a fan but he's a successful journeyman entertainer, I'm not surprised he can deliver.
I much prefer wholesome then the garbage that we have today
He doesn’t l sync.
Very cool.. Thanks for sharing
Just saw Sept.4th. His shows a 10.
Donny and Marie tickets were expensive. His solo tickets are not that cheap, $150 is lowest price. Maybe I should go. Big fan in the 1970 and 80s.
❤
Yeah yeah yeah eeyeah sweet!
bizarre that he's the same age as joe elliot of def leppard, he seems so much more old timey
