  • Inside this very bus on December 1, 1955, Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a white man, breaking existing segregation laws. The courage and quiet strength she exhibited successfully ignited action in others. Many believe Rosa Parks' act was the spark that created the flame for the Civil Rights movement. I was fortunate enough to step foot on the bus and have a museum volunteer tell the story of how the museum acquired the bus, restored it, and some unique history behind it. The Rosa Parks Bus can be found on the floor of the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation in Detroit, Michigan.
There seems to be some debate as to what seat Rosa Parks actually sat in. Pictures show her sitting in a bus seat on the Driver's side. However according to actual interviews documented according to the museum docent interviewed and a website I researched, this is not the case. She did sit on the opposite side. Here is a link to the site I researched. shec.ashp.cuny.edu/items/show...
When I am not making images for my normal (if there is such a thing) bodies of work as a photographer, I make plenty of fun videos for my Model A or other related videos from that time period that you can find on this channel too. Be sure to check them out.
As to gear, I shoot a variety of full frame Nikon cameras and lenses. Most everything is shot on a tripod to produce the sharpest images possible.

We would love to upgrade our video and microphone system to incorporate better quality audio and sound as well as multiple cameras and drone footage in the future. My 1930 Ford Town Sedan has eyebrow fenders and still has the original interior. It's certainly worn but it still is functional. I have rebuilt the driveline, suspension, and tie rods, installed a modernized Model A motor with oversized intake valves, insert bearings, and a high compression head. I also have a lightened flywheel and V8 clutch. The car comfortably cruises at 50MPH but I've had it up to 60MPH. I have also insulated and installed sound deadener which has made the car enjoyable to be in even at 90 degrees.

I was fortunate enough to see the bus at The Henry Ford when it was first restored. My Grandson and I sat in the seat where Rosa Parks sat while one of the historians told us the story of the bus. I have visited the Museum twice since then and always enjoyed seeing the bus.

It is amazing what the museum did to preserve it and to share its history with all who see it.

My goodness Ken this story I have heard about from my grandfather, as my va aunt lived in Hagerstown MD and this was commented in the family and now you covered this story with the respective bus.
Awesome Ken thanks I have enjoyed this video, hope all is ok with you and your restoration on your Model A is progressing!
    God bless 🙏👍🏼

It truly is a remarkable story both for her courage as well as the Henry Ford Museum preserving the historical significance of the bus.
On another note, I am excited as to what is progressing with the car. It has been very difficult to remain closed lip but I promise that it is exciting news. Well at least for me it is. Some of the players involved are not what you would expect, but it is going to be very fascinating to watch how this progresses. As far as I can tell, I have not seen anything like it on TH-cam which makes this even more exciting for me and hopefully my viewers too.
