      @Super Sonic I feel you mama, I gained so much weight and that is when it seems so much worse. When the body gets used to storing fat there from years of bad posture(with good reason to protect your protruding cervical spine) and when we gain weight, it finds that hump pad to collect in.
      While doing these exercises, you have to try and remain conscientious of sitting up straight when possible, try and remember to push your shoulders back, eventually itll become natural.
      Okay, so theres two exercises, my first exercise that I did 2 weeks before adding the second, was just to begin activating those weak and unused muscles. I would stand flat against the wall, shoulders back against it, with feet just an inch or so from the wall, and I'd tuck my chin down to touch my chest with the back of my head staying against the wall, and I would hold it there for 3 minutes. At first you may want to start 1 or 2 minutes at a time, cause you may get a little like cramp-like feeling in those unused muscles. Remeber to keep the chin tucked completely despite the sensation, you can even take a short break between each minute. Its not very comfortable at first, my muscles were so weak I felt like I was pinching a nerve or something(only did this the first few times). But I would do that AT LEAST 3 times per day. If the next day those exercised muscles feel like you worked out, then you may want to take that day off, it's better to start slowly until you feel comfortable. Theres example videos of this on youtube if I'm not painting a good enough picture.
      Second is an exercise that I didnt see in a video, but I felt it helped. Once I felt no awkward sensations and gained a little strength in those muscles, I would lay on the couch with my legs up on the back and my head dangling off the seat. Using my arms, I would lift my head up into a chin tuck at first, hold it for a few seconds, then slowly help it back down, repeat about 10 chin tucks. I would do that once or twice per day. Eventually I gained strength under my chin(jawline), in the front neck muscles, and cervical muscles to where I no longer had to use my arms, it CAN be a bit of an arm workout as well. Lol. So yeah, that's it. Do those 2 exercises daily, and shoulders back as much as you can remember.
      Also, but not necessary:
      Eventually after the back straightened out, I bought a light weight set and began doing minor shoulder and back exercises, like dumbell side raises and bent over fly's making sure to keep my chin slightly tucked(and VERY good posture), to strengthen surrounding muscles for more support. Good luck with everything especially the reduction, YOU CAN DO THIS, itll become a routine and eventually wont even feel like hard work! It took anywhere from 2-5 months(2 months to start seeing results, and 5 to see a no hump and better posture) for me, it's a slow process, but we have to remember it took a lifetime to get where we are. Before you know it you'll be staring at yourself and your posture in the mirror. Sending hugs and healing your way.❤
      Ps sorry for the book I just wrote and for not responding sooner, I almost missed your response.

    This works ridiculously well. As a tall guy, I have to look down a lot, and an easy way to achieve this is by slumping. I do this so much that I just forget how to return to a proper posture, especially when I'm tired. Recently my shirt collar bothered me because it was resting heavily on the back of my neck instead of on my shoulders. Having seen your video, I gave it a go and after only a couple of reps my shirt collar rests where it is supposed to. My shoulders hurt a little but it's like the kind of pain you feel in your legs when you get to sit down after walking up a hill. Thanks a million!

    I Have dowager's hump so I have right for review and feedback. As Bob & Brad don't have any hump they can't say how it feels exactly.
    Trust me I tried it with a hard ball, it does hurt. I tried with softer ball and trust me next day I slept for 15 hours long.
    I could hear my bones popping in my body while I was lying with tennis ball underneath my hump and trying to roll it side by side.
    It felt instantly different.
    Post two times exercise I can feel my T1 moving proper way... Now I know where issue was. Tissues and fat will pain trust me, but it's worth it.
    Now I am unable to go back to my wrong chicken neck posture, it feels wrong to my body now. Like my some habit is broken....
    And now I feel lighter...and ofcourse pain is there a little due to friction of ball but such a relief in posture wow... I did it on yoga mat and it worked yay.
    In 4 years now I feel so light... Perhaps I found my knots and did it right way somehow
    Bob - Brad thanks a ton. God bless you.

    I lost 50 lbs last year and my hump FINALLY went away completely! I tried everything and it never worked. But I never tried this when I did have it. But weight loss can eliminate it! It’s crazy.

    • @laurazuniga940
      @laurazuniga940 4 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Do you care to elaborate further? Because I'm at 180 lbs rn used to be 130 in highschool but I got the hump after countless hours daily for months of studying for nursing school and I still have it. Small pillows behind my lower neck helped and now I'm seeing a chiropractor or have been for a while. But now I'm starting to exercise more and eat better. So I'm really wondering if that would help more people or if it's just your isolated case.

    • @sampalazoo15
      @sampalazoo15 4 ปีที่แล้ว +31

      Laura Zuniga It’s definitely has something to do with posture. The fat collects over time due to slouching I think is what happened. With myself, I was in college most of the time I was suffering with my weight so I was always slouching when I sat. I started using a foam roller where I’d lay it right below the hump on my back and I would just lay my head back. Id do this for about 5 min. Ymir forces the weight from your head to pull back and kinda line you back up. That’s how i think of it. Feels good too. I was told to do this by my chiropractor. I’ve always done this to help with my posture. Past few years. But I just did normal diet and exercise. I never focused on the hump, but I did a lot of back and arm exercises. So it could have helped it go away. I rarely ever wear my hair up but one day I did and my mom was like, your hump is gone! I look in the mirror and it’s just gone. I started at 215lbs and now I’m at 150. So it’s just all spine now that I can feel.

    • @sampalazoo15
      @sampalazoo15 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Laura Zuniga I think it would help a lot of people. I didn’t do any crazy diet either. Just normal counting of calories. I use my fitnesspal. I do about 2-3 days of cardio for 30 minutes along with working on muscle groups each time. New muscle groups each day of that week. But yeah, it’s just a collection of fat. My chiropractor told me the whole fat situation and how I could slightly improve it but the only thing I improved was my posture a TINY bit, which didn’t improve the hump at all. I gave up and then I started dieting and bam, gone.

    Why did you pop up in my feed? How did you get in my head? I struggle with this issue daily. The look AND the pain. I also am super aware of others that have neck hump. The only time I lessen the look of the neck hump, and lessened the pain, was when I was in physical therapy. Of COURSE I stopped the exercises. The only OTHER time I got relief, was when I was working with a personal trainer who was a body builder. He didn't believe in building his clients bodies. He believed in finding the cause of the pain and strengthening those muscles. He never put me on a machine or made me pick up a weight. Guess what exercises he taught me...
    The exact ones you just demonstrated. And of COURSE I stopped. Thank you so much for extra terrestrially finding me! I will not question how.; but I will be diligent in doing these exercises again.
    Also... you are two good guys.

    Oh my God! I've been suffering from this since I was 12. I'm 31 now. I have seen several doctors and none of them could tell me why my back was in chronic pain. It wasn't until years later that a physical therapist told me. He just took one quick look at me and said "aha". But he said that there was nothing I could do about it. So for 19 years, I've been missing out on a lot of fun things, because my back hurts so much. I literally cried of joy when I saw this video. I've been trying some of these exercises before, but always been told that it will only make my back pain worse. Thank you for your words of wisdom! ❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏

    I just wanted to tell you guys that I have been suffering from chronic neck pain due to an injury I received in '97 to my neck. It had flared up recently and I was in pain every night and day and sleeping on my neck made it the worst. After finding one of your videos by accident, the one on sleep positions to alleviate neck pain, I have tried your suggestions of aligning my shoulder with my ear when sleeping. This is quite different than all the other things I have been doing to try to help my neck for years. It has really helped me to gradually ease the pain and reduce the flare-up. Thank you so much! I will be trying this suggestion here (in this video) next! :)

This works.I am also ordering the foam roller to use.

    Thank you so much for the video. I’m so embarrassed, as I’ve had this since I was 20. I’m now 49 and have lived with this all these years and have been so self conscious. These exercises look like they can help!

      Hi Calm Dust, it’s nice meeting you here.. I’m Richard by name, it would be nice getting to know you better, if that’s ok with you? My mom once said good friends are never too much to have. if you don’t mind, can we be friends??
