Yeah no disrespect DP love what you do but that was straight up the worst written story I've ever heard. Even for a story about cryptids it made little to no sense and was just generally horribly written.

I've heard this story on the confessional podcast that has the full story. Tldr his grandpa got him to go back for Jake and got him patched up. He no longer hunted afterwards due to his injuries but still stayed with the family till he died. Think this story happened back in 2003.
I used to hunt with my dad when I was a child in the mountains of NC. We were above my grandmother's property and came across this tree with huge scratch marks down it. We figured it was a bear or whatever, but then we heard a woman's scream. Obvious mountain lion, but it sounded exactly like a woman screaming. Scared the hell out of us both.

Your comments only mean something when talking about mid to long range. Granted he was scared but his cowardice prevented him from thinking rationally while bravery would have likely killed it at close range.

In the event of trauma ones mind goes back to when they recently felt safe. It appears the young man was repeating the actions that made him feel safest. What would any of us do in the event of a horror story? It is sound logic for a traumatic circumstance. The dog attacked before the boy told it remember that part.
How did you not take out your gun and try to kill it. Like the 22 maybe wouldn’t do much but at point black range it can do something. If it bleeds, it can die.

Jake's natural reaction to protect his person kicked in. Very freaky and as I heard him tell his story I cried with him as he described what he and Jake were going through. You do get to see pics of Jake! ❤️ Jake was about 5 or 6 when this happened and he got to grow to the age of 16 when he passed in the the spring of 2009.
That story about the boy, his grandfather, Bo & Old Jake was really moving and touching! What a fantastic story! The other stories were enjoyable as well, but that one really connected with me! Great writing and narrating! Thank you!

Story told by the guy is way better and detailed. Episodes 263 & 264. Host Vic is very detailed about asking for all the encounter details and then has his guests tell their stories.
That's kinda how the animal kingdom works. It's brutal but necessary. Though I'm assuming you're empathetic when it comes to animals, so I can understand why you'd dislike them being hurt. Don't let others' opinions of you get to you. It's a good thing to have a soft heart 🙂

I had to stop 4 mins in once I recognized it but when I heard it from the man himself... I cried.. I was terrified.. just go give it a listen! Just a suggestion if you want it 👍🏽
The first story teller was so scared that he constantly had to stop running to take detailed note of the interactions between his dog and the werewolf. And the first interaction was extremely odd to since he ran, the monster chased, AND THEN his dog tried attacking it rather than immediately lunging at the monster when the writer took off. Also, his dog bite the hip of this monstrously big being... come on now dude. At least say it bit the wrist, something the dog can plausibly latch onto.

As someone who hunts with dogs and has been hunting with dogs for as long as I can remember, the first instinct is to use the dogs who are bred and raised for it and not to use the guns. Also can we as a community remember that in the first story this was a child of 15 (yes 15 is still a child - at least my 15 year old is) and not cut them down, because a grown person in this same situation might have froze also. I know I have and it was just a wild pig and not a possible cryptid.

Even though I personally think the first story is fictional (still enjoyed it), the comment section makes one thing clear: Everyone shuts down their brain when it's about dogs. I love dogs as much as anyone else, but everyone is trashing a 15 year old teenager who is facing a huge werewolf on his own for not being brave enough? Are you shitting me? I seriously want to see those people in a similar scenario, facing a hungry bear in the woods or something like that. Nobody is as brave as they pretend to be ESPECIALLY in their teenage years.
Narration is good, but that first story is perhaps the worst written story I've ever heard. Narrator was describing a fight he had no way of seeing, illogical all the way through, it relies on the pain/death of the dog for its scariness, and for the author to claim it as true is pathetic.
Ok. Sooooo, when faithful old Jake showed up, for the last time and had a good handle on that "hound from hell", one would've assumed that the hunter would then return the favor and this time fight alongside his presumed to be dead k9 friend by FINALLY pulling out the 22 shot gun and blasting a few rounds at the now fallen and vulnerable creature. In other words, that was his opportunity to redeem himself and HELP his loyal companion in battle. Instead, he chose (once again) to only look out for his own well-being and continue running..interesting...and sad. "Come on Jake. Let's go". That part just really had me shaking my head. He definitely had a lot to learn about loyalty and sacrifice.
I dont keep pets at all but I bet in most cases a dog would prefer to chase wild game freely for hours in the forest. Rather than sit in an apartment and get to go on a walk sometimes. Then get fat and die early from cancer. This is why I don't keep pets. But hey go on and judge this guy as you feed your dogs and pay no attention to it this evening!
I am a hunter my first bow kill was recorded with a camera the entire event last 20 minutes. When I got home watched the camera footage. The event lasted 1 minute 48 seconds. Time moves slower in high adrenaline situations!
I’d never let my dog fight to their death like that. I’d tell them to run with me and try to fire my gun at that thing. Smh that kid should have been the thing that went down in that story, and he didn’t even want to find the dog later! Fucking sad.

@@johnbyais1162 My crossbow had some issues. I would've hit dead-on but something was screwed up and it shot off to the left of where I was aiming. Lesson learned for me, make sure my weapons are dead-on before I go out hunting!
You know it seems cowardice to some. We weren't there. We don't know if this boy ever fought a fist fight. Knowing this we must not be judgemental. When you are fighting for your life, you don't know what you will do. Being young and afraid...well till you been there you really don't know what you'll do. This is coming from a grizzled old trucker. He was just trying to stay alive.
PHEW! That was emotional. How could he not defend his dog?.. I run in the Woods with my dog. And i always carry a pepperspray or a stone in my Pocket. just in case of werewolf or deranged deer. He's much faster than i am.

Even though I personally think the first story is fictional (still enjoyed it), the comment section makes one thing clear:
Everyone shuts down their brain when it's about dogs. I love dogs as much as anyone else, but everyone is trashing a 15 year old teenager who is facing a huge werewolf on his own for not being brave enough? Are you shitting me?
I seriously want to see those people in a similar scenario, facing a hungry bear in the woods or something like that. Nobody is as brave as they pretend to be ESPECIALLY in their teenage years.
Narration is good, but that first story is perhaps the worst written story I've ever heard. Narrator was describing a fight he had no way of seeing, illogical all the way through, it relies on the pain/death of the dog for its scariness, and for the author to claim it as true is pathetic.

Ok. Sooooo, when faithful old Jake showed up, for the last time and had a good handle on that "hound from hell", one would've assumed that the hunter would then return the favor and this time fight alongside his presumed to be dead k9 friend by FINALLY pulling out the 22 shot gun and blasting a few rounds at the now fallen and vulnerable creature. In other words, that was his opportunity to redeem himself and HELP his loyal companion in battle. Instead, he chose (once again) to only look out for his own well-being and continue running..interesting...and sad. "Come on Jake. Let's go". That part just really had me shaking my head. He definitely had a lot to learn about loyalty and sacrifice.
22 or not, I’m not just about to let that thing kill my dog with out at least trying. Damn.
I dont keep pets at all but I bet in most cases a dog would prefer to chase wild game freely for hours in the forest. Rather than sit in an apartment and get to go on a walk sometimes. Then get fat and die early from cancer. This is why I don't keep pets. But hey go on and judge this guy as you feed your dogs and pay no attention to it this evening!

Thanks darkness I grew up in the Daniel Boone national Forest in Kentucky and I live in Indiana now but I miss it a lot.
I am a hunter my first bow kill was recorded with a camera the entire event last 20 minutes. When I got home watched the camera footage. The event lasted 1 minute 48 seconds. Time moves slower in high adrenaline situations!

I’d never let my dog fight to their death like that. I’d tell them to run with me and try to fire my gun at that thing. Smh that kid should have been the thing that went down in that story, and he didn’t even want to find the dog later! Fucking sad.

The scariest thing I've seen while hunting was my crossbow bolt completely missing a big twelve point buck because it was offset. 😔
Mine was I lined up on a real good ten point,squeezed and click!
@@johnbyais1162 My crossbow had some issues. I would've hit dead-on but something was screwed up and it shot off to the left of where I was aiming. Lesson learned for me, make sure my weapons are dead-on before I go out hunting!

You know it seems cowardice to some. We weren't there. We don't know if this boy ever fought a fist fight. Knowing this we must not be judgemental. When you are fighting for your life, you don't know what you will do. Being young and afraid...well till you been there you really don't know what you'll do. This is coming from a grizzled old trucker. He was just trying to stay alive.

I run in the Woods with my dog. And i always carry a pepperspray or a stone in my Pocket. just in case of werewolf or deranged deer. He's much faster than i am.

Sometimes I get creeped out when walking out of the woods. I have a half mile walk in darkness each way. Never ran into anything crazy, at least not yet.

This story was told by a close friend of mine. Work with him everyday. For all you keyboard warriors so quick to judge, put yourself in his position at 15 years old. What would you have done? Would you have handled this situation any better? Ask yourself these questions before passing harsh judgment.
