I was 16 in 1980, these 2 Albums were on Every turntable and Every car speakers, and a year or so later Every local Band were doing covers of every song. almost 60 and I still crank it up the drive home from work
It is a reality shock that so many of our producers, directors, engineers, musicians, managers and talent are getting older, have left us already and/or retiring. These folks changed our culture and how we lived our lives. I just do not see this in todays world of music entertainment. We truly were blessed if we grew up during these times. Especially in the 1970s and 1980s. Wow! Leppard's 1983 release by Mutte was a game changer.
God Bless you, Full in Bloom. I love your style of interviewing. You are professional, respectful and knowledgeable (as a person who is a genuine fan/admirer of a band or style of music). Keep being awesome and thank you again for posting.
@@danishskiwarehouse yes I’m a lucky bastard for sure . Never knew how lucky I was at the time. I also saw Randy Rhodes with Ozzy on the blizzard of Oz tour so I guess I’m a two time lucky bastard
I absolutely love these interviews. Fascinating stuff. Really useful information for an amateur like me, and so much nostalgia: Pyromania was THE album for me from the moment I heard it in 1983. And Back in Black...stunning. Could spend all day listening to the folks behind the scenes talk about them. MORE!
This was fascinating. Thank you for posting. Back In Black came out in July of 1980 and Foreigner Four came out a year later in July of 1981. I still think of both of them as summer albums too though I listen to them at any time the mood strikes. But they were fixtures of the marching band bus I rode on through the summer months and were on my own boombox as I played catch with my sibling in the backyard. They are both albums that can be held up as perfect in terms of production as well as the quality of the songs. Not a single song on either album is weak or something to be considered "filler". Tony and Mutt must be very proud of both since they have held up so well and remain staples of classic rock and roll!
What a Classic album! Every song is 🔥 I only got to see AC⚡️DC once, but it was this tour! They opened for Aerosmith, who were on the road for Draw The Line. I saw Smitty 4 times in the 70's and they always kicked ass, but AC⚡️DC blew them away that night! @full in bloom, you Rock with your interviews brah! Really good! ☮️🤘🤙
These are so well done. So glad we are getting all this history recorded. Fascinating to hear these stories from first hand sources as we are losing our heroes and rock God's at a haunting pace.
Thank you so much for this great and honest interview. Having been a young 18 and then 19 yr old musician listening to these great records obsessively I’m thrilled to hear Tony/s recollections on the various creative processes of Mutt and of course the bands and how the magic was created. Tony Platt worked extremely well in his own right and sounds very proud to have been a part of these records that stand the test of time!
I was 9 when BIB came out and I remember a family friend played us the “new singer” and my brother and I were like “how is this possible? This is incredible.” Getting old is cool because of these experiences. For someone born today those albums will still be incredible but to have the context in real time …. Bon Scott was like their David Lee Roth. Or moreso. How can they replace the irreplaceable? OMG they are pulling it off!
The difference with AC/DC and VH is AC/DC stayed the same band, VH turned from a great hard rock band to a cheezy power ballad pop band. Singers as unique as Bon and DLR shouldn't be able to be replaced without gutting the band. AC/DC somehow pulled it off
Blessed to have seen them twice once at Glasgow on the razors edge tour and the other was the ballbreaker tour in Aberdeen and I’ll never forget being blown away. Classic rock n roll at its best and so professional and will never be repeated again.
Full in Bloom interviews are easily the best in the business - very informative, and the interviewer never makes it about himself. Platt's comments at the end about demo-itis and rough-mix-itis were great. I know he's a bit of a recluse so it's not likely, but a Full in Bloom interview with Mutt Lange would be tremendous!
Recluse is a bit of an understatement. There seem to be only two pictures of Mutt Lange in the world, both taken around 1983. No one's ever seen the guy. I sometimes think he's a fictional entity made up by the industry. For what reason I can't say
Very interesting and great job interviewing , luv it . Need to here from the masters who produced and engineered the Masters before these secrets get lost forever. Straight from the horses whose mouths are the gospel of rock n roll. Thank you.
Bon never sounded better than on 'Highway to Hell' and Brian never sounded better than on 'Back In Black.' When Platt said that Mutt is an amazing vocal producer, the proof is in the pudding. Wish we had more than 3 Mutt produced AC/DC records! (For Those About to Rock is the 3rd one)
Cant use a Click with Phil Rudd he actually slows down a few beats per min on Choruses its why drummers never mimic Acdc well and underestimate Acdc and Phil
The serial killer “ Night Stalker “ said the album made him commit all those murders. Cops and investigators found an AC/DC baseball cap at one of the horrific scenes.
No, the media dubbed him the 'night prowler' or 'night crawler' & when he was arrested he apparently was wearing an AC/DC baseball cap. The media put that together with AC/DC having a song called 'night prowler' and a myth was created!
The album cover to "" Let There Be Rock "" had a a bunch of Heineken bottles strewn about the stage......So I had to try that beer.......been drinking it ever since 1977.......Subliminal perhaps ???

Different album, but Just listened to "Riff Raff" on the drive home from work this morning.

Pyromania is my favourite Def Leppard album.
It’s with everything down to being a plumber or electrician. Even the writers n Hollywood hav zero creative stories …. it’s jus comics n remakes
Well put. 70s and 80s were the best.
That's my favorite AC/DC album cover. You can see how much fun they were having being a rock band. Bon Scott's smile is great.
Thanks to full in bloom for giving us these interviews they are absolutely amazing 👏..cheers bro
Second this. THANK YOU!

Without question the production quality & mixing for Highway.. was top shelf. That said, my favourite AC/DC record is still Powerage
I saw the power age tour when I was 14 it was my first show
John Eldridge - you lucky bastard!!!

It stopped being cool to say that Powerage is your favourite AC/DC album. Stop being a poser, you poser.
@@danishskiwarehouse I caught them July of 1978......
This guy Platt is just fantastic (AC/DC being my favorite band notwithstanding).

Agree that Touch Too Much is a hugely underrated track.
Touch too much is a great song I agree with tony should have been big It’s in my top 10 favorite acdc songs
Tout à fait d'accord avec vous j'adore cette chanson elle est magnifique surtout chantée par bon Scott le plus grand chanteur de tous les temps

Tony's the best. Awesome interview.
Walk all you has one of the most intense song openings in the history of Rock n Roll...
Excellent interview !!

Great Interview
Great interview 👍🏻
touch too much is best acdc song to me as well.....
The very song I've spent 50 years avoiding. The "Pop song" on a legendary hard rock album.
@@mattiasjansson733 If you change the back up vocals to (( Fuck too much )) it helps ......js

There are rough mixes of songs I do prefer to the final versions. Not often but sometimes.
Wait, what happened with Def Leppard? 8:13
I'm sure Tony has seen some rough and tough situations.
mutt improved everything ,, more so Phil Rudd

The serial killer “ Night Stalker “ said the album made him commit all those murders.
Cops and investigators found an AC/DC baseball cap at one of the horrific scenes.

It was the song night crawler that he said made him commit the murders.
The song is called night prowler.
