- We loved our Skoda Yeti project, with 198,000 miles under it belt and MUCH abuse, it was still going strong when we raffled it off!
However, the @grittoutdoors Yeti takes it to the next level! With 396,000 on the clock, will this daily dog make it to 400,000 miles and maybe even Morocco?
Fancy booking on the Morocco trip? Check out the details here:

A friend of mine who works in a garage has 2 customers who are taxi drivers. They have two 1.9tdi Octavias with 550,000 and 650,000 miles and still going strong
A firm favourite with taxi drivers the Octavia. A taxi driver I got talking to said they'd one just clocked 480,000 never laid a spanner on it.
My Yeti 4x4 TDI Year 2010 170ps has just gone above 472,000. Probs one of the highest milers in the U.K. and still running sweet.
So close to pulling the trigger on one, going from a fabia
A Yeti wont disapoint you! Always delivers.
As an ex taxi driver I did 340000 in a rover 75 with bmw diesel. Still going strong but only changed because of age constraints by taxi licencing. Also had Ford mondeo driven to similar mileage, again no problems but wrecked by a drunk driver. Then had a skoda Octavia L & K 2.0 with dsg. No probs with box but engine began to smoke at 220000. Now currently have bmw 320d auto. No probs and just on 182000. Can’t fault the BMW engine but the VW block, not so good.
Wow, the discovery is the worst when it comes to reliability, will trust the Yeti more than the discovery.
That’s a wildly uneducated statement. I could think of dozens of vehicles undeniably less reliable than any model of discovery. All of ours have been great. Only had one crank snap across 12 vehicles and over 3 million combined miles of towing plant equipment.
I’ve owned various land rovers for over 35 years , the 90” turbos and defenders are great for off roading , shooting , farm work etc , for reliability the engines were ok but the bodywork literally fell to bits including the interiors , the mark 1 discovery I had was really good off road but was absolutely gutless on the road and again fell to pieces as you was driving it including engine problems ( bear in mind it had a rebuilt engine fitted before I purchased it ) , the Rangerover was the worst for me regarding reliability L322 V8 Diesel , the engine has fantastic power but the rest of the motor just fell apart as per usual with constant problems with suspension , brakes , turbos failing , trim falling off and fault codes every week I drove it which was a shame as it was so comfortable to drive , 3 years ago i purchased a 2 litre diesel yeti 4x4 and it’s done over 40k with no faults at all ( I purchased it with 87k ) , I have to say it’s such a nice reliable car to drive and run , I’m even looking at purchasing another one for my wife as she loves driving it.
Our driveway is on a bit of a slope . One very cold and snowy afternoon my wife was coming home from work in our 2.0 4x4 Outdoor Yeti and she phoned me to say she would be home in 5 minutes or so. I jokingly said "No hurry , there's a bloody great Mercedes stuck in front of our driveway he can't go forward nor back, the road is icy, that haven't gritted it yet, he's well buggered". Just as I said that he managed to get away, (With the help of some people to push it that is). Anyway my wife arrived, pointed her car towards the neighbour's house across the road then reversed over where that Merc had been floundering about, straight up onto our snow covered driveway, no problem!
It’s not over YET! It’s a YETI!! 😂
I love a happy ending.
Albeit some money spent but at least he gave it a chance, and it’s lived 😁
Just purchased a monte carlo 4x4 148bhp had it remapped to 195bhp .. not towed with it since the remap but i towed with it previous.. i cannot fault it ..what a fantastic car
Who did you get the remap with?
Ive got a 2015 transporter 140 on 368k now , runs and drives unbelievably well . Only thing thats wrong with it is a whiney alternator now. Needing to get done soon . Service it in house every 5k .
Surely, when driving around in the Landi, it was the ultimate, BUT WHEN THE YETI CAME FROM THE DOCTOR , THE CUSTOMER SANG a different tune THUMBS UP TO GUYS AT DSD
Almost 400k miles, wow !!!!
Wow , just wow !
Do you watch Auto Alex, he’s formerly of Car throttle, he’s just bought back a Skoda with 460k on it.
I have a 330d manual on 314k miles currently dead tho waiting for a new alternator.
Belle vidéo 👌 😉
yeah
Where do you obtain your underbody kits or are they in house fab.? I have a S.Y.4x4 140 bhp do a lot of forestry roads great vlog 👍

@@DarksideDevelopments Hi team got sorted thanks 👍
Alright TDI guys. I have 2015 MK7 Golf TDI. Does anyone prime the fuel system with VCDS after a filter change or will cycling the key a few times do the trick??
Ideally with VCDS
My 2013 yeti, 2 L TDI is a great vehicle. Unfortunately it’s developed a noise which I believe is the AC compressor. It’s making it strange noise which I’m told is some sort of a clutch don’t know any ideas?
Drop us an email to sales@darksidedevelopments.co.uk with more details, possibly a video so we can hear the sound, we might be able to help out
What do you tune the yeti to
On a cusotm remap it can do 170-185bhp and around 300lbs\ft
Is it still on the first engine
Original engine, drivetrain and gearbox
My VW T5 is on 270k, I thought that was high mileage 😂
Was that a DSG as well?
No, 6 speed manual
So was it the pump or the sensor? Surely the pump must have deteriorated to cause the swarf?
Sensor was throwing it into limp mode
But the pump had also failed previously and likely the swarf did the sensor as you suggest
So was it the sensor that was causing swarf?
No the swarf is from the fuel pump but the limp mode was the new sensor being bad and not the fuel pump
@@sbrader97 Glad it's sorted now, after all engine is just running in!
The Yeti looking great. My personal car build would be a Audi TT MK2 3.2 V6 all blackout, boosted and with an anti-lag system. They make crazy power and amazing sound.
All black is boring though
Yetis rule
How many haldex failures ?
None
I got rid of mine at 198 thounds lol
would it not have been better to diagnose the engine problems before money was spent on the lift kit and wheels and smash tray, just incase the engine problems was going to cost money, that he didnt have or want to spend on a cheap car?
]
It was already booked it and paid for, and the fact it was still running and driving it was just assumed it wouldn’t be too serious. The limp mode only developed just before getting to Darkside. Plus, it’s the highest mileage one out there, I can’t let it die yet!

The 1.9tdi Yeti will do 400k easily enough. The 2.0's probably won't. Different beasts. The 2.0 gearbox is pretty much guaranteed not to anyway. Those are soft.
Wouldn't say it's guaranteed not to, considering it's about 4k away from hitting 400k miles
@@DarksideDevelopments any mechanic who has ever pulled a 2.0 gearbox will know why it's a Unicorn so. Compared to the 1.9 box, they're made of lettuce. Go look for a used one - hens teeth to get one that hasn't mashed its cogs.
The gearbox is the same 1.9 or 2.0
Уже гниёт 😂
