- The big day has arrived I am finally converting my Skoda Yeti into an easy, no build overnight car camper! I make a cab curtains, windows blinds and an easy platform to put my mattress on. On my second yeti and been using as camper for about 10 years now Throughout Scotland.
They are the most incredible vehicles
Only suggestion for those going to areas where there are midges
mosquito netting does not work the holes are too big
Midge netting is easy to find and a little beggars cannot get through

🤭 You’re not wrong about it being cosy i think the whole back will need to be a bed! Haha mmn it is a bit of an enclosed space, I’ve slept on that mattress with her before but it was in a much bigger room, i think we’d keep it pretty warm though in winter!
I'm 5'10 and glad you mentioned you are too, there's loads of these videos where girls show a car setup and they are 5'4/5'2 which doesn't work for me. I can seriously look at Yeti's knowing the space is there. 😊
I know they make it look easy and it turns out they are tiny 😂🤭 I actually was confused too the mattress was 187cm. I don’t think anyone taller than us could do it! 🙏

Awesome minimalist conversion Tori, always thought the Yeti was a super cool car and obviously loved you two the moment I saw you on TH-cam, so whats not to like about this video hey 😊. I was thinking of converting my car into a camper and similarly to you I decided to go take an easy route, only I went and bought a VW Camper van instead. 😁 Picking it up in 10 days time, can't wait for some awesome trips to my 3 fav counties in England: Dorset, Devon and, of course., delightful Cornwall. It took me a while to decide but I know she would be so happy knowing that I had got something that is going to bring me so much pleasure. Hi Tori, I came across your video in the process of doing the same with my yeti. I havent tried a night in it yet but I have made a removable floor and so far done a day out to a car rally trying it out with folding table /chair and a gas stove with 7kg bottle strapped in the rear. I have water containers and air mattress and sleeping bag. plus a tent if need be . so the only thing to do next is choose when and where i want to go. As i live in south scotland going north to the highlands seems a plan. i hope you are getting a good sleep in your yeti. kevin👍

@@missnancysdayoff Hi Tori, Very good, you seem to have it sorted with working in the car. I have been thinking about a canopy for the rear, to sit in shade or cook under from rain etc. maybe in your case a canopy would allow to work under cover, none of the filings dropping in the bed area and also hang the engraver tool thing up. hopefully i will be trying my set up in the next week or so. i have appointments before i can go. as for scotland im just over the border so i have the choice whether to head west coast or east coast.

As it's so easy to see any light at night, for true stealth add extra material around the curtain edge to seal it ?
Really surprised that you could stretch out in it.
😂 trying to just look a bit less awful the whole time! Yes I am going to add more Velcro to seal it properly but if it’s not quite wide enough I will add more material good idea , I agree no light should be able to get out at all! I’ll do the same with the window blinds honestly they are much harder to fit than you would think (well for me anyway 🤭) stretching out was an achievement I thought, I wasn’t at all sure it would be possible without taking out the front seat!
Looks great and great video, we've got a Skoda roomster which is very similar layout. I'm 6' and have managed to camp in it quite a few times. I really like your curtain idea, will have to look into that. I would imagine it's a bit tight for room with your greyhound too?

@@missnancysdayoff based on what I have seen, I get the impression that Miss Nancy is happy to get some sleep anywhere she can, that’s probably like me too! 😂 that said I can picture her rolling her eyes when she realises that you actually are going to camp in the Yeti! 🙄 I think that is what I was doing for a while, giving them too much love ie water, seem to be getting that just right now, not too much or maybe I’ve just found plants that are more difficult to kill, either that or ive inadvertently bought plastic ones! 🤦😂

Tori, just a suggestion; "Lutec" a French company makes a bi-fold camping light (around £45) which is solar powered and gives 5-8 hours of light. Lithium battery) Which you secure to your car dashboard or roof to gather sun solar power 🔋 during day ready for night security. It works well in 🇬🇧 sunshine.

I did have a chuckle about your fairy lights 🤭. I'm often given the task to unravel knotted yarn so I can attest to the time and patience it requires. I find it quite therapeutic.
A very practical build / conversion and you presented in a style I could see a lot of people being willing to give it a go. So I hope that it will inspire others to bite the bullet. I'm curious does the boot door on the Yeti open from the inside, or do you need to use the side doors?
I love the fact that you've even thought to store acute little brolly to one side, very practical in our climate.
Yes those funky seat belts in the ceiling I have found most use over the years as many cars have them for tying things down to stop them from falling over. 🤣

@@missnancysdayoff 🤣 you're more than welcome to bring over all your tangled messes for me to sort out.👍 I imagine that a simple string or wire pull could be quite easily devised to pull on the latch to release the door. I bet somebody has done it and even uploaded a video about it. I had to do a similar thing for an old Escort Van I had a few years back as the inside door handle was missing. That's the other thing that was funny when you said that you like to get plants and watch them die 😆. I guess you are not to green fingered then? What about trying cacti? The key thing is to never overwater them. No I think your hair looks great, really nice in the thumbnail, the way their light bounces off your waves. The colour suits you although I imagine any colour would suit you well. What hair colours have you tried if any in the past?
@Melatiah 🤣 you’d have no time for anything else you’d be surprised what ties itself in a knot when I’m around. Um well I don’t suppose i am too green fingered but i like to think if i ever get the chance i could grow vegetable, im interested in permaculture and i hope one day to be able to grow things and not kill any! Sadly atm moment i forget t water them for ages, or i give them too much, it’s terrible 😣 i generally try succulents which should be easy….can’t be trusted with spiky plants!

I totally believe it's within your grasp to achieve that goal of being able to grow vegetables. Have you ever heard of the Rose of Jericho? These are a type of resurrection plant that can withstand drying out completely, in this state they look dead but are completely revived with water. There are all sorts of magical things about this plant and may be something you could look into. 😉
Changing the topic in the last week I happen to purchase a Renault Kangoo that has been modified to allow wheelchair access which is going to be ideal for my mother. But as I've got used to the vehicle it did occur to me that it could make an amazing weekend camper car!

The Kangoo is going to be totally perfect for a car camper! That’s great, perfect for your mother but also some weekend trips. And you won’t even have knotted fairy lights in your conversion 🤣
Great job but how are you going to heat it? Might be fine in summer but not now.
It’s a good point, my heater is always broken in the van so I think I’m used to it being cold, but I’m glad to be testing. This in spring!
5’10” is quite impressive. 😂👌I struggle to find a vehicle suitable for me to lay in, 6’5”.

I’ve been car camping in the past. In a VW Golf and a er….Ford Fiesta, and I’m a 6’2”. Yep. Cramped.

Back-sleeping was definitely out of the question. I managed a whole week once, but since then have only resorted to it during stormy nights when camping.
Impressive, must have been pretty brutal but the end of that week. it’s just not ideal for a tall person I think all vides about living in vehicles should come with that warning 🤣
