    It's interesting how when Lanre becomes Haliax he is using the one "door of relief" that is left for him. His ability to forget, sleep or die has been stolen due to whatever transformation the Cthaeh put him through. And so, he choses the door of madness to soothe his mind.
    Great video!

    • @joaofarias9986
      @joaofarias9986 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      No. Selitos says that what Lanre have isn't madness. Lanre was denied the door of madness as well. Lanre seeks the destruction of all things so, maybe, he can have peace

    As usual, this video is superb. As per your theory in some other video, I too think that the Lanre who died is not the same one who returned to Lyra's call. He must be some malevolent spirit that entered Lanre's body. Every thing perfectly fits. You have a great imagination.
    I have a video request for you.. The Chandrian killed Kvothe's parents and troop as his father sang about the Chandrian and others heard it.
    Well, Abenthy too heard that song. And the massacre didn't happen immediately after that song. Roughly after two months time after the song. We don't hear of anything bad happening to Abenthy. Then they leave Kvothe.
    Even when we think that Chandrian were fleeing from a danger after killing Kvothe's family, they had a lot of opportunities when he was completely vulnerable in the woods and Tarbean.
    What protected Kvothe from the Chandrian? Regarding the malice of Cinder, I don't think they had been considerate to a small boy like Kvothe.
    What is the reason for leaving Abenthy and Kvothe unharmed? Would you make a video about this?
    Thank you.

    First read of KKC - Wow, what amazing books. Second read - How did I not notice this part the first time around. Third read - so many hidden secrets everywhere, damn you Pat for messing with my head!
    The more you read these books, the more you start to scratch beneath the surface and begin to uncover so many things you wouldn't even take notice of the first couple of times.
    Recommend any other similar fantasy books with similar writing style to Pats? I've been searching and reading many books since I read KKC about 3 years ago but nothing comes close. I did, however, really enjoy "The First Law" & "Shattered Sea" trilogies by Joe Abercrombie. Nothing like KKC, but amazing nonetheless.

    Was it Lanre's new power that made him unable to die? I always thought it was a leftover side effect of Lyra having called him back from the dead. Like she inadvertently cursed him trying to save him. But I don't actually remember what the book said specifically.

    • @elazarsinger4187

    • @jimokane9891
      @jimokane9891 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thats the confusing bit cuz 1 city survived but it is not Myr Tarniel. The enemy poisoned 7 supposedly but who is the enemy. Lanre or Iax. I think Lanre did not destroy his own city because he briefly remembered the Lethani because Iax's control over him is not total as can be seen when he briefly comes to his senses and asks Selito's to kill him which he cannot do because Iax has made him Immortal.

    The confusing part of this all is the unreliable narrator. I think this is definitely the point by Rothfuss because this story is supposed to be about the unreliability of stories... Thus we can't really take anything as Canon. Even Kote say's that he like's to embellish a bit from time to time for the story...(on which it has already been embellished plenty!) It's more of an adventure of humanity and how outliers can be idolized without true merit, even to the extremes of Kvothe who's story has become bigger than himself.

    I was curious if you are thinking about doing a video about the waystones, how they lead to Fae, and perhaps Myr Tariniel?
    And have you listened to the audiobook read by Nick Podehl? The way he pronounces some of the names are different from your videos. Also, listening to it brings a different perspective, you hear things I would have missed reading (Auri, Ariel).

I have to check but if i'm not wrong, Auri gave prettymuch the same things to Kvothe. • @Vewan05
      @Vewan05 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The Cthaeh isn't the tree but rather a creature in the tree. It is kept in the tree by Fae who are tasked with not letting anyone leave after talking to the Cthaeh, even going so far as to killing them with arrows from a distance, letting the body rot where it lies and even killing animals that attempts to eat from the body. (According to Bast) So I don't think cutting the tree down would help. Most likely it would just make it easier for the Chtaeh to flee and then cause more havoc.

    Has anyone else noticed that Rothfuss made a mistake with Fela's rank... she was promoted from Re'lar to Re'lar... in the name of the wind master Killin calls her re'lar fela after the fire... and master elodin promotes her to re'lar after she makes her ring.... she should be an El'the

    • @elazarsinger4187

      No you misunderstand. Re'lar means "namer". Elodin was saying "now that you have mastered a name you can be called a namer, or re'lar." Also, elodin couldn't have just MADE her a re'lar, elodin would have to bring up the matter to the other masters to get a vote.
