When I got my Peco bug boxes I was flummoxed in much the same way by the holding mechanism, took me too long to figure out it wasnt a screw in! great weathering job
Excellent video as always and good to see a different technique to the Corris weathering. A bit surprised that you didn't weather the couplings. Dundas have always been a great supplier.
I have to agree with you George the weathering and highlighted details make such a difference. Quality work as always. I would be tempted to change the wheels for metal ones though.

@@thedembot I’ve been asked about airbrushes a few times, and I’m planning on a series on ‘the basics’ aswell as ‘the dark arts’, such as soldering, airbrushing etc
Thought you’d do the high seat backs with their white antimacassars. They are quite prominent through the windows. I much prefer bachmann style 009 couplers so switch the peco ones over. Nice to see a toned down version of the black wash technique. Getting anxious about what you do to the carrs I built and sold you….😅
I might do them yet. But I don’t think it’s that obvious through the windows, as the glazing on these is quite thick. I’ll try it out this week and see
@@GWilliamsonModels that’s true, the other thing though that others have told me, and I have experienced myself, is that eventually the plastic wheels wear down, and it gets small shavings of plastic all over your track. Can’t deny that they do often roll smooth though, which is nice!
@@GWilliamsonModels ya true, on a small layout it might not be a problem, and since I mainly model OO and North American HO, I probably would see it more than someone doing OO9 since the rolling stock is larger, heavier and in the case of US/Canadian stuff, it is usually quite long and on bogies.
Amazing modelling....with your added hunout. Perfect viewing material. However I'm really struggling to hear you on my phone, , your mic seems much quieter than other youtubers. Kind regards Gary
@GWilliamsonModels if you play yours at same volume then play someone else's yours is always quieter. Yes I could play in TV. But it's a pain dragging the TV into the bathroom when I'm having my morning 10 minutes sit down 😀😀😀😀
While these are great I do believe one of the coaches only has the gvt crest and not the lining I'm not 100% but I do believe so given my last looking.

Soon, I'll be building a dedicated 009 layout as I have a few 009 stock but I have always found RTR 009 rolling stock to be a bit on the pricy side.
That sounds great, but yes I agree, it’s much cheaper to build from kits..if you have the skill and time

I’m still undecided about the couplings, chances are I’ll be swapping them out for Greenwich at some point!

Looks great! I didn’t know that the Peco rolling stock has plastic wheels, that’s kinda crazy given the price.

Interesting, I only photographed one when I was last there, so I’ll investigate that!
