This is fantastic, a great video too. I'm looking to do something similar, a narrow gauge forest railway on a log slice. Have you got any other ideas for joining the flexi track together. I don't have access to a soldering iron. My minimum radius will be 13cm. Out of interested have you completed this layout? Happy New Year!
Hi Samuel, Happy New Year to you too and thank you for liking the video. I have finished this layout, it's on my lastest video. Your idea for a layout on a log slice sounds great and I'm no expert but if it was me, I would fix my track to thin plywood, cut to the width of the track (my layout is also 13cm radius). then use a flexi adhesive to glue this to your log slice, the main reason is over time, I'm sure your slice will dry, twist and maybe even split slightly. Don't be put off though, I built one myself a number of years ago. As for joining the flexi track, if it's a simple circle, like mine, I've used Gorilla epoxy two part, it sets in 5 mins and I have layouts that the joint is still good after many years. I hope you do your layout and hope to see it on TH-cam. Happy modelling, Carl
Great railway! Do you have any tips for arranging the track in a circle? I tried making a similar layout with HO track (or 00) and I couldn't get the track bent near the ends to get it soldered together nice.
Thanks Rob,the way ive always achieved tight curves is to use a good pice of 5mm plywood and pin the track straight onto it NO underlay and bend the pins over underneath so theres no movement ,when it comes to joining the track i use copper covered board (not sure of the correct name for it)supper glue or grips like s..t to fix it to the ply then mini clamp or pin the track in place so you can solder , ive alway soldered a good 1inch both sides it holds great, rail joiners just bend, hope this makes sense , I will try to post a picture of the back so you can see, happy modelling
I really like the layout on the bottom with that cool looking greem steam loco. Is that a scratch build engine? I wouldn't having one those for my clay brick making operation.
Hi John, its a white metal kit from Springside Models in South devon, I dont think its on there web page but if you give them a call 01803813749 they will sort you out, its an easy kit to build I have it on a Kato chassis and it runs lovely, it is I believe 7mm scale or 09- O scale and I have it running on 9mm track, hope that helps , im not great at scales but the info above is what folk have past on to me, happy modelling and all the best. Carl

Thanks Jeff
Awesome creativity, need to find the background that looks like Welsh hills.
Your so right, I should have painted or found a better background it would have made such a difference
