I remember my grandfather to be very proud and very protective about his omega constellation watch. He died in 1992 and that watch was passed to my father who treasured it. He died 5 years ago and now it belongs to me. After so many years it still works perfectly.
My dad inherited his when his grandfather passed, and I inherited it after his passing. It's beautiful, and the Constellation will always be my favorite watch because of the sentimental value it holds to me personally, and how it started my love for watches in general.
The constellation is a beautiful dress watch. Bought one for my mom with my first real paycheck. Have a set for my wife and I. Very elegant and sophisticated.
@@TeddyBaldassarre I have this watch, passed down from my father. I've had to replace the crystal a few times because I end up scratching it because I just love to wear it all the time. However like you mentioned in your video, I always make sure it's replaced with a genuine part. The omega symbol is in the middle of the glass. I was disappointed though when the first time I had it replaced they didn't replace it with the magnifying lens for the date, as it had that when I gave it to them.
The watch you have is perfect. My most favorite watch with the pie-pan dial, arrow indices, case, hands, movement, star, and crosshair. I must find one. Keep it forever sir.
I don't have a vintage Omega Constellation but I did purchase my 1st brand new 2008 Constellation in Stainless steel and love it then as I love it now. I also noticed the Omega Constellation is popular in the Far East if not Asia in General. I saw a lot of them advertised in Hong Kong back in 2016.
The omega constellation was one of my first vintage watches too, with the added bonus of mine having been in my family for a long while. Definitely has a special place in my heart
Exccellent and informative video. I absolutely love these 60s Omegas. I agree that the 60s were possibily the zenith of mechanical watch making and design. The etched plexi is particularly interesting to me as I have a number of Universal Geneve watches and they also etched their logo at the centre of the crystal. Very subtle and hard to spot without an eye glass, but a real tell of originality and nearly impossible to renew. By the way... there is no such thing as having too many vintage watches. We are keeping them alive so others can appreciate the skill and craftsmanship that created them. For a world weaned on MVMT and Michael Kors that is a public service, and I am awaiting my knighthood.
Very cool to hear about your UGs. I have never had the privilege to own one (one day). And thanks for watching the video David. I agree with your sentiments on vintage.
My husband has two Constellations. One owned by his father purchased in the early 1950's and worn for half a century of hard abuse. The other, a gift to him from his father upon high school graduation in 1966, still being worn half a century later. Both are pie-pan dials, but the first is gold and stainless case with face like 14900 shown at 1:45 in this video, and the second a face like 167005 shown at 1:47 in 14K gold. We had the first watch sent to an old watch maker in central California for refurbishing after Omega in San Francisco couldn't do the job. It was restored to nearly new condition which took several months. The second has been overhauled by Omega in San Francisco and still looks new. Both have Omega leather bands and Omega bracelets, interchangeable. Since these watches are rare and valuable, they are only worn on very special occasions. For daily use he currently wears just a standard crummy Rolex Submariner.
I've wanted to buy this watch for awhile. Don't have the funds atm but will buy it one day. I also want a 1968 JLC calendar alarm and a 1940s Rolex oyster perpetual bubble back.
I have an early 1960’s Omega Constellation pie pan that I have worn every day for 20 years. It was my great grandfather’s and has been handed down 4 generations now. I have serviced it twice and still keeps perfect time. Has the original rice band but sadly the crown, crystal and band clasp had been replaced before it became mine. My most cherished item.
Early 1960s Omega Constellation watches : if you are a vintage watch collector, this watch is a must, specially with original rice bead bracelet & original everything else. I have 3 of them already but unfortunately, they are all stainless steel version, but 100% all original with original rice bead bracelet that I love so much. I am still looking for the holy grail of this watch. 100% original, pie-pan, 561 movement with rice bead...all 18K gold. that would be awesome to have.
Great timing on the video! I'm about to get my first vintage watch in 2 weeks, an Omega Constellation! Been talking to the owner for about a month now.
Excellent video and very timely! I have been looking at a modern Constellation Globemaster with the blue dial for some months, but only in the last few days have I started investigating the world of vintage Constellations. The pie pan dials of the vintage and modern Constellations really appeal to me, as do the C shape Genta versions with date-only.
2852 no date goldcapped arrowhead here (1957). On very dark green croc strap. Lovely piece. Did have to order a bronze aftermarket caseback medallion as it had been chipped by a previous owner for the gold.
Source Code, for me Teddy is one of only a handful who does a meaningful deep-dive, yet keeps it moving and interesting...I was captivated by this series...the pie pan is really special. Peace.
I picked up my 2852-13-SC about a month ago for $750... A real steal, for a steel watch that was recently serviced. That being said there are some sub $1K deals out there if you look.
Very nice video, what a rich history the Omega Constellation have! I have an eye 👁 in some Omega Constellation from the decade I was born ( the 60’s) and from the early 70’s! Keep the good work my friend!
fatt matt , I thought about that too (homage)...I could save a lot of money and not worry about being scammed because I know I’m buying a scam (Lol)...don’t see any homages for the pie pan, though. At least you and I are honest about it...peace.

Hi Teddy first of all thanks for the content. I have been eyeing up these for some time now and am due to pull the trigger, it will be my first vintage and hopefully not my last! I would be intrigued to see your take on some issues these are prone to and things to check / look out for when buying. There are other such videos but you are always a trusted source of information. Many thanks, Scott.
I would love to see you go over an Omega Co-Axial Chronoscope GMT Chronograph in Rose Gold 422.53.44.52.13.001. Recently stumbled across one while researching which watch I’m gonna buy. Such a beautiful watch...!
My dad always wore one and still has it. Pretty sure it is from the early 50s. I asked my mom if he still wanted it... yes, even if he doesn't wear it. I wear his dad's watch which is a Swiss Valory. It is plated but it is sharp.
Hi Teddy, I have a 1960 omega Geneve Calendar. The movement is a 503 with 20 jewels. My dad got it as a gift for his wedding. I have not been able to find any information or videos on it. The dial is very close to your constellation but does not have the crosshair lines.
This would be my first choice in a vintage watch. Perfect size, and just beautiful. If I were going to spend $1500-2000 on a watch this one would top my list. Where can I get one, from a trustworthy source?
My first vintage :HMT Hindustan Machine Tools. HMT VIKAS hand winding My first automatic: Enicar My first vintage purchased online: Seiko 5 Now the list is such a way long and beautiful i enjoy them. But only have 2 swiss watches West End Watch Co. and Enicar. And other are Most of them Japanese and Indian.
I have seen mixed reviews about gold platted watches, I think you mentioned this one is... perhaps you can do a video on this? Is there a difference in the kind of gold plating like 14k or 9k on its longevity?
10k gold will be much much more durable than other, but because there are only 10/24 parts of gold it can cause issues for those that are sensitive to metals. 14k is great in durability but also adds protection of potential allergic reactions. It'll be a touch pricier than 10k, but I find 14k to be more desirable for rings, watches, and bracelets. I don't mind 10k for necklaces and earrings as they don't get banged up like jewelry worn on the hands/wrists.
Great job Teddy. It's a true and unique beauty. Speaking of which, I would love to see "Courtney's Corner". A quick take of her impression of your video on each topic.
I have an Omega constellation watch that was my fathers I would love to know the model number and it's value. I'll keep searching to find out the details. Thanks for sharing.
I love my Constellation, it's a 1973 square dial type with a dark green (nearly black) dial and bracelet that is integral to the case. It's the one in my extensive collection that I'd keep if forced to only keep one of them. The dial lacquer spider cracks on all of them sadly, you have to just accept it.
Hi Teddy ! I liked your video for the good information. I have a Omega watch that my father gave me many years ago. And I think it’s IDENTICAL to his watch. My watch does not say that is officially certified, it is pie_ pan dial with calendar, is gold-steel, it has 8 stars back and logo in the crystal. I would like to know in what year it was made . Great review. Are you sure the observatory medallion isn't fake as it's missing the brickwork? I have a similar watch. All things appear authentic except for the medallion. Just curious your thoughts.
Omega was always a finer and more accurate watch than Rolex. Omega named its company because they were convinced that their watches would be the "last watch anyone would need to own". Accuracy and elegance was always far better than Rolex, however Rolex put together a worldwide marketing campaign, giving their watches to athletes, movie stars, politicians and celebrities. This public campaign made Rolex more well known and coveted. Omega got into the marketing game late, but once they became official timers of the Olympics, and then put their watch on astronauts who walked on the Moon, they became very well known. There are several photo books on the market that describe the history of Omega and show off many models. 'Good to have if you are an Omega owner.
Teddy, do you own more Constellations? I own one given to me by my parents in 1976, I i just sent my fathers 1765 eta day date gold cap conny to swiss Omega and I have a 1969 or so 18K day date chanpagne face, which I just purchased from Spain for my modest collection of 13-14 Omrga's.
What is even better about the Constellation and Sea Master O-mega watches? The SUPER CLONES are the bomb! Every part clones to the last micro screw, stamp, etc. is identical.
@@TeddyBaldassarre I think it is sad the clones are even closer than the Rolex Clones. Small jewelers would be fooled. Pros, maybe not. I think it is going to have an impact on collectors. I know of a few sellers on Ebay that are already trying to pass them off as real ones with the real Omega price. People that watch your videos need to be aware they are out there.
Cool video and well timed as I'm looking at several constellations at the moment, but must agree with Source Code, I would have liked this to have been more in depth, or perhaps a link attached to this video, that leads us specifically interested, to a bigger review.

I think the same can be said for a lot of brands and it unfortunately is a byproduct of changing consumer tastes. I am with you on preferring vintage inspired designs. Thank goodness there are heritage lines lol
Funny thing that you just uploaded this when I am currently looking into buying a vintage constellation (the one with the black pie pan dial). One thing I'm curious about though is how frequently these need to be serviced and how much this may cost on average. Can you share any experiences in that regard (since you mentioned that you recently had yours serviced after owning it for 2 years)?

Accuracy and elegance was always far better than Rolex, however Rolex put together a worldwide marketing campaign, giving their watches to athletes, movie stars, politicians and celebrities. This public campaign made Rolex more well known and coveted. Omega got into the marketing game late, but once they became official timers of the Olympics, and then put their watch on astronauts who walked on the Moon, they became very well known. There are several photo books on the market that describe the history of Omega and show off many models. 'Good to have if you are an Omega owner.
Any thoughts on the omega constellation 751?
Teddy, do you own more Constellations? I own one given to me by my parents in 1976, I i just sent my fathers 1765 eta day date gold cap conny to swiss Omega and I have a 1969 or so 18K day date chanpagne face, which I just purchased from Spain for my modest collection of 13-14 Omrga's.
Stunning watch...thanks for sharing.
What is even better about the Constellation and Sea Master O-mega watches? The SUPER CLONES are the bomb! Every part clones to the last micro screw, stamp, etc. is identical.
I prefer the real thing haha. But your first question, I don’t think I would even argue that they are better, just different and often overlooked.
Hello! Thanks for this! Just got my first Constellation, and noticed the second hand doesn't stop when setting the time. Is that normal for these?
Cool video and well timed as I'm looking at several constellations at the moment, but must agree with Source Code, I would have liked this to have been more in depth, or perhaps a link attached to this video, that leads us specifically interested, to a bigger review.
I believe I have a solid gold version not the capped version. How much would this go
i got the 168.009 18k yellow gold...how would i maintain and care for it. what watch auto winder is recommened or not recommended?
Love your videos. I am planning to get my first watch. Planning to get the SARB033. Do you think it is a good choice considering it is my first watch. Would plan on expanding my collection to 2-3 watches in the next 6 months. Any other budget mentions?
I have two Omega watches.
But both are not working.
Want to repair it. Any suggestions..
Why are vintage Omegas so much better looking than modern Omegas? To wit:
Constellation: goo.gl/4TztG4
Geneve: goo.gl/z747DR
Seamaster: goo.gl/fxYXWa
I think the same can be said for a lot of brands and it unfortunately is a byproduct of changing consumer tastes. I am with you on preferring vintage inspired designs. Thank goodness there are heritage lines lol
PIE PAN CONSTELATION WOOOOW
Funny thing that you just uploaded this when I am currently looking into buying a vintage constellation (the one with the black pie pan dial). One thing I'm curious about though is how frequently these need to be serviced and how much this may cost on average. Can you share any experiences in that regard (since you mentioned that you recently had yours serviced after owning it for 2 years)?
Beautiful watch and great review. Will you recommend some places to possibly buy one.
Hard to beat that dial
Any idea where to find a replacement stem for an 18K gold 60's Constellation?
About to pick up a 168.017 1968 gold . Thoughts ?
besides the gold plated and gold capped, isn't there also a solid 18k gold version?
Hey Teddy, can you do some unboxing videos ? :)
