@@CasebackWatches I understand that, I was politely helped with my terrible German all this summer when in Bavaria and Austria. Bought a 60's Paul Garnier Minu Stop, made by Stowa when I was in Salzburg. Great german watch!
You are so fortunate to have a watch your Grandfather and Dad wore and loved, my Dad had an Omega but some how it went missing with his frequent visits to the hospital later in live. I sure wish I had it. 🙏
Just a note. Regarding the Constellations the calibre you want to look for is the 564. The 564 is the chronometer certified movement and thus will be in all of the constellations. Not the 565.
I second the vote for wintage vs vintage. Your accent is part of the charm of your videos. Please keep up the fine work, and play the guitar for us again soon. All the best.
Nice video. I purchased a used black dial Constellation last year for next to nothing. Sent it in to Omega for full service. Second watch I've had them fix. Just got it back. It looks amazing for a 60 year old watch. To think that Rolex doesn't offer such a service. The reason I will never buy a Rolex.
We're big fans of your videos...my husband doesn't even wear a watch and always watches your videos. Really like this focus on individual brands. Glittering is a word...or glittery is the adjective
Haha, I was just given the same as the day/date constellation you showed towards the end, but gold capped, it was given to my grandfather in Egypt in the late 60s, passed to my father, now to me. I love it. I understand your view on the day, I like the day feature. I’m biased though👽. However, the omega is at the bottom, and constellation is at the top. No star. Has the observatory on back.
I have a piepan Constellation (with gold-capping) with the 551 movement. I have the original octagonal crown, but the gold has completely worn off, shopwing it's underlying dull base metal. It it feasible to try to get it replated, or simpler to buy a used one off Ebay?
Remember....if someone asks you if you speak High or Low German..... Simply tell them “There are no Low Germans”! Keep up the great work, Tim! I look forward to your videos.....
I have an Omega Constellation Chronometer that I bought new in 1958 with the original box and my copy of the "Certificate of High Precision". I would like to research using the serial number but don't know the link for that. I am wearing the watch right now. At the Brussels Worlds Fair in 1958, I compared my time on it with a Russian exhibit atomic clock. They were 3 minutes off. My watch agreed with the Swiss atomic clock shortly before that.
All you have to do is join the Omega Forum and post your question/request and they will help you out. Really great forum with members who have an amazing knowledge of all things Omega.
Hi Tim I wonder if you can help yes i have 2 Constellations including a Pie Pan However i have a Seamaster 2922 which i believe is rare it has straight hands and normal crown is this a frankenwatch it has a 503 movement your videos was the inspiration to buy Omegas i have quite a collection now Thanks
I find my 1970 c shape constellation (564 caliber auto) the most comfortable watch to wear due to its modest proportions, and it being as light as a feather. I think many modern watches look a joke with their ‘alarm clock on a strap’ size, something Micky Mouse would wear. Vintage omega, particularly the post 1964 C shape, are so understated in appearance yet house one of the most beautiful, tough, and efficient Swiss movements ever produced.
(Pedant alert!) - of course when recommending the movement, you meant 564 rather than 565. The 564 is the chronometer version of the 565 and all Constellations are chronometers.

Thank you for a great video! I am looking for a -66 to -68 Constellation (c-shape) in gold double with a linen dial . What would be an acceptable price if it is with all the original parts except the wrist band and in good condition? When looking around, the prices asked are really wide spread so it is hard understanding the market value.
Tough question, because there are so few pieces our there and in result no real market. My guess is: Aound 1000 Euro from a professional dealer but it really depends on the condition.

Hi Tim, where May I find the 18k white gold omega Speedmaster Apollo 11, 1980 or 18k yellow gold omega Speedmaster Apollo 11, 1969? I am searching it for quite some time but I can’t find a good one, mean you guide me on this? Where May I find and how much it might cost?
I got a Vintage Constellation (looking like the model at 6:08 (1962) - but in silver) from my Grandfather and wanted to ask what prices i can expect, when i want to change out the crystal/plexi from this old watch. There is no need for a complete restoration, because it is in a really good shape. Only the glass is kinda scratched. I am not really a big watch collector and this is actually my first "more expensive" watch. Anyone here who can help me out?
I don't know if there were only for Japan, but i find the power reserve very low for an omega movement of this period. 42hours. And most vintage watches loose some hours over the years, so maybe the pieces today run only around 35 hours or so (without fresh service of course).
He looks like Val Kilmer in The Saint movie. Especially when The Saint disguised himself wearing spectacles. BTW, I have the Constellation Calendar 2943 ref.
Hi Tim, I've always understood that Genta redesigned the Constellation starting with the doglegged lugs and the Onyx inlayed indices on the dial. So the floral indices should be pre-Genta. Am I wrong (very probable) or just a knowitall (highly probable)? I think the onyx indices make the Constellation a more contemporal design, less dated. Lovely combination of movement and design, as is Genta's earlier Universal Geneve Polerouter with the microrotor. They make a nice two-watch collection; affordable, early Genta and iconic movement. By the way, the later Constellations always made me think of the Japanese design-language created by Tanaka for Seiko, maybe that's your connection with the seiko 5. Keep it up!
Please put prices so we would know what are you talking about is it a foldable to some people or not prices is very important please add prices to your report thank you
Hi there! I understand your request, but unfortunately its impossible because time moves on. That's a rather old video. About four years ago I bought several Constellations and Genèves under 400 Euros. The Genèves often under 300. Now we have an entirely different situation, they are way more expensive. Imagine the case I had stated these 400/220 in the video. Everybody would be upset now because those prices are not longer valid. But thanks for the input.
No patina for you? :-O Theo and Harris is going to hate you. My preferences are between the GG Pie Pan and the C form, both in steel (maybe the C with a visel of white gold) and considering the prices that the Pie Pan are reaching today I think I'll go for the C form , or for a 70's TV square, very funky.
The Omega De Ville Tressor is an example of a fine watch. For a connoisseur, A CENTRE THREE HANDS manual winding mechanism is the best of watches, with long minute hand, and an even longer second hand. Usually in Patek or Lange, we only see two hands or sub second hand manual winding watches. They reserved the CTH for their finest pieces. All good watch makers must have this caliber in their stable to be considered good. This kind of watch is very rare in the Swiss industry. Try find one in a Rolex and see what you get? But, strange, the Japanese made this kind of watches long ago, and, it seems like only Gerald Donovan who is aware of it. They even do it in 36000 bph. Very high class, but, you pay less than this Constellation.
My problem with the Tresor is the hideous hands similar to what you would find on a cheap (albeit excellent in quality) orient Bambino. These hands are unbecoming of such a wonderful watch.
I like the red background. I watch stuff like this late at night and red is a good colour temperature for winding down and relaxing, like a real fire. Doesn't degrade you melatonin!
When I obtained my first bumper watch I did not know the mechanism. I though it was broken when I shook it. By the way, it was a JLC powermatic cal. 481. Another great affordable bumper.
Unfortunately not. But maybe movies with subtitles would help? I've learnt a lot with Netflix shows like Mad Men and Boardwalk Empire together with german and then english subtitles.

I think it's a symbol, connected to the observatory on the back. Which is connected to the stars as a precise measurement of time.
