The 168.027 constellation is so beautiful and genuinely timeless. I hadn't thought of a modern strap, like the red one you show on in the video. It looks great with the off-white dial.
I have a seamaster from 1965 with the calibre 562. I absolutely love the watch, as you say it is understated but a classic. To quote Tim, 'keeper, keeper, keeper'!
Nice video. I have 3 of the 4 models you mention. All bought used. I sent one back to Omega for service. They basically rebuilt it. Very impressed. Unlike Rolex, which refused to service one of theirs 20 years ago. Too old, they said. I suspect that had I been the King of my Saudi Arabia, I would have gotten a different response. Needless to be say, I will never buy another Rolex, and I share my story with anyone interested. Omega, Longines, JL work for me. I have had watches serviced by all three without issue.
I bought an early 60's 34mm steel Seamaster manual wind earlier this year. Looking pristine fresh out of an Omega Service. It's the most commented on & universally liked watch in the collection.
You're speaking my language here! My father was an OMEGA fan and had several over his lifetime... 50's- 60's- 70's models. This was after he had an early Rolex that leaked. (He also had a Blancpain that I managed to break when I wore it to school one day, but that's another story. FWIW he bought that Fifty Fathoms in Miami for $60 bucks.)
I have a Omega bumper automatic from 1950. It was the watch I chose to wear on my own wedding 2 years ago. As a smaller classy looking dresswatch goes perfectly well with a nice suit.

I completely agree, I am a vintage Omega enthousiast as well. I own a number of them and will never sell them. Tim, thanks for reminding the public to the superb quality of those by many often overlooked timepieces. I am not a fan of the 1000-series of movements though since they house plastic parts
Yeah I like these Omega oldies too, I have two in my collection: a 1969 linnen dial daydate Constellation and a 50ties handwinder. I like the solid golden (not this "hooded" stuff) Pie Pan a lot. I must admit that this "fascinating mixture of stupidity and greed" (+ curiosity + love + immaturity + taste + fun + some pocket money ++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++) is definitely part of the game. Thanks for mentioning these old goodies...they deserve it !
I am the lucky owner of 4 vintage Omega's. But my most beloved Omega is the 1969 Constellation. My Moonwatch. What a watch! A close second is the 1962 Seamaster 30.

I recently purchased a ‘66, gold capped Constellation Pie Pan in stunning condition (from the Omega Enthusiast) and I absolutely love it! I paid too dollar (I think), but it’s 100% authentic, keeps damn near perfect time, and he guarantees his watches for a year, after which, for a nominal fee, he services them for life.
I've been on his website many times, he has some very nice Omega's. I ended up buying my 1969 Constellation from Omega Addict, he also has some very nice Omega's for very decent prices.

If you haven't yet found your Constellation, try Omega Addict. I bought a 1969 Constellation from him and it is a beautiful watch. The price was very reasonable too. Good luck with your search.
Nice selection of Omegas. I have a small collection of vintage Omegas, 2 if which I inherited, and two which I bought myself. None of them shout out for attention like many modern watches, but every one is timeless in its own way.

Outstanding review! Dad’s bumper automatic Cortébert wasn’t repaired correctly and now runs fast 5” per day…My favorite has been the Seamaster series, however, the Constellation with the Geneve Observatory and the 8 stars in 18 kt gold is indeed my Elenor. I will own one someday. Albeit I keep wearing dad´s Cortébert Automatic daily I wish the service was better and parts with the Omegas were interchangeable!

My favorite is a 1966 Omega pie pan in 18k with gold face and an aftermarket Swedish gold bracelet. It was a little dirty when I found it in a small auction house in Northern Sweden but I had it serviced by a reputable watchmaker and it is spectacular.
I landed myself a womens Seamaster Compressor automatic for 50euro in a lost-and-found auction at work. Luckily, none of the girls at work had a clue what they were bidding on. It now looks perfect on my wrist as a refined dress watch.
Had a big windfall recently bought myself a new SM300 ( similar to the original , not the latest with the awful sandwich numerals), liked it so much got my Dad an Aqua Terra & Sister a vintage gold Omega for Xmas. They're not into watches at all & consider my humble collection to be a waste of money, so will be interesting to see their reaction...🤞🏻 Excellent video, will certainly be getting some classic Omegas in the future. I've spent it all now, mostly on watches (& a Triumph bike).. fun while it lasted, but tbh my favourite watches are still Seiko's. - my Dad returned the Aqua Terra to me as he's afraid to wear it, & my SM300 broke (crown) , costing £490 + 4 months to repair.. scary stuff and a huge amount of money for me. All sorted now, genuinely runs zero seconds per day and looks & feels like new. Love Omega, wear Seiko more. Enjoy your Orient Star 👍🏻👍🏻

A Seamaster or a Geneve would make me really happy. But any of these four, or any vintage Omega indeed, would. '50s-'60s style was the best for watches, in my opinion.
The 50s and 60s really were the golden age for watches in general. They were built with much harder metal than today on the parts that see wear so they last for a very long time. Todays watches are made with softer steel to make machining easier on the machining bits and to compensate for the softer steel they polish the parts to perfection and use high quality oil to lessen wear on those parts. The problem arises when those modern automatics eventually dries up since not everybody services their watches every few years. They get gritty, parts wear fast cause of softer steel and you have to replace those parts. That becomes costly fairly quick. Compare that to watches from the 50s and 60s that have gotten crusty with old oil, you just give them a service, apply some oil and they spring back to life with little to no wear on the harder steel parts.
I still have an eye out for a Constellation C case. I kick myself when I think what I might have paid 20 years ago for a clean one, compared to what one will cost me today.

Omega, Universal, Zenith etc all lovely but I'm happy to buy a few handwind russian watches etc which are cheap, simple and charming. Someday, when my taste is less various, I might invest more in a finer and prestigious piece.
I have a SeaMaster Cosmic from 1970 but my Omega/Rolex watchmaker could not open it. He wrote to me that "this is a one piece case that I cant get opened. The back does not come off, the center part does come apart from the case, but it is still a sealed one piece case with no way to get the crystal off." Does this make sense to anyone?
If yours is similar to my late '60's Seamaster Deville, the movement comes out the front....after the split winding stem/crown is removed. A crystal lift is used to compress/detach the crystal and surrounding bezel
I'm so surprised many of the early watches here are in medium to poor condition- cases badly marred, could you not find better? They do exist. Am I wrong in saying the Seamaster was and is THE Omega watch for collectors...I wanted to see some. I'm a fan of your channel, but if I don't complain, who will?
99% of omega vintage are not all original. Redial, overly polished cases, reprinted dials, replaced hands, non original replacements. All add up to detracting financial and sentimtal value from the vast majority of vintage and instead make them frankenstien watches. Buyers beware abd research vintage watches in detail before wasting uour money on regrets.
I have the Seamaster and the consolation , my dad stared me on this journey when I was 15years old, he gave me a used watch every year.
Any Vintage Omega is just pure class and very adequate for everyday with the exception of work or exercise.

Got a old Seamaster and a Geneve. Only an old one with the Pie Pan dial is missing and mostly pretty expensive in Gold.
