I had to do the same job on my X5 4.8is, it has only solved about 30% of the smoking since the old seals I replaced weren't that bad. I would recommend you eliminate all other potential causes of smoking in these engines before tackling this massive job. Mainly CCV and valve cover leaks...
@@dazone on this particular car looks like they someone tried to fix the issue with a new CCV but it didn’t fix it, also valve covers were redone too, but yes the CCV can cause smoke too, but in most cases it is the seals. Thank you for watching.
@@topnews1007 mostly N62 4.4 or 4.8 related issue, n54 in 3.0 X5 can actually have this issue too but it is usually with very high miles and is uncommon.
Hi, new to the channel and love it. Question want to buy my first BMW but afraid of all the issues. Let's say from 2022 to present what is the most reliable (engine) model. Thank you in advance.
DE, skills are priceless. Excellent work and that's a clean 550 ❤
@@geemanbmw Thank you, appreciate you watching.
The difference between the new and old seals are insane! Looks like the surgery was a success!
@@dhonquali4552 yes old ones were shot, thanks for watching.

@@dazone I found out that after 2006 most BMW had the CCV diaphragm that goes bad it's built into the valve cover
@DEEuroworks Also the S85 V10 engine and the old M20 B27 engine
Another great video from the legend DE love seeing these rare cars, great explanation

Thank you, is a sedan then a 540i rwd, if an suv then either x3, x5 or 7 with 6cyl, basically anything with b58.
@@DEEuroworks Thank you there's 3 generations of the B58 as I understand is one better than the other?
