this game was released in 1999, it was supposed to be released before, because there were other 3d games that weren't using analog, sad, and also due to the launch of the ps2.
When this was released, I bought it for my daughter (it looked too childish for me), but she got me into it and eventually, I don't know which of us enjoyed it more! Probably because I was playing it with her, otherwise I'd have passed this one by and never would have discovered it. Even now, it's still a great game for kids and ... well ... big kids! :-D
@@KamosSoul yeah the storyline was actually good, it had cool little mini games and and the worlds were vibrant , I wish they made a remake and a new game on ps5 it would be sick
@@brandonmcgillis Ape Escape has been confirmed on PS Plus Premium and I hope that like Ape Escape 2 the third game will also come to the service. If this happens, there may not be a remastered trilogy anymore, but it improves the chances of a remake or better, a new game in this franchise =D
This alone is golden, pure gaming genius. Everything is right, gameplay, level details, music is catchy and above all its DIFFERENT! a fresh spin on the classic phrase of 'monkey business'. Nothing quite like it today.
Such an incredible moment in gaming history. It would have been so easy for this game to be a gimmicky cash-in for the dual shock, but instead they turned in a super fun game full of innovative ideas.
I remember this has some pretty interesting level areas like the tv tower and almost an entire carnival area! On top of that a castle, a park, a temple, jungle, river, ocean, beach so on and so forth it was very diverse in it's areas! No wonder it was as fun as it was!!
Freaking love this game! Even though I didn't play it back in the PS1 era because I had many others except this one, when I finally got to play it I got hooked, I have probably completed it about 4 times, even though there have been games with better graphics but this one's just amazing.
As a kid coming home from school to play on the psp was classic. Back then couldn’t bring no Electronics to school so had to wait till I got home was well worth it back then !
This was one of my favorite games when I was a kid like 5 years old trying to beat this game was actually pretty hard. I got very far but never saw how the game ended nice!
In an industry full of magnificent soundtracks, with the likes of Mitsuda, Wise and Shimomura, after so many years… this, this Drum & Bass galore remains one of the most memorable ones
This is my first playstation/console game. I got it on my birthday. Birthdays used to be so much fun. Together with tenchu this is a large part of my childhood
I remembered stumbling upon this game in 2001 when my cousins got a PS2. My uncle friend lend him his PS1 CD Case with some games. My cousins never liked any of PS1 games as they saw them to be "trash". Luckily for me, I managed to play little bit of this, RE 2, RE black label, and Tomb Raider 2 . Ah the days before TH-cam.
0:10 - I remember when I got confused by this message: I went to buy a DualShock Controller but when I returned to play with the new controller I didn't noticed that I had already one (the DualShock Controller included when I bought my PSX)
@Daniel Callahan Never have I seen such butt-hurt. You went and commented on a bunch of video's then deleted every comment you made. All cause you admitted that you where unable to read. It's sad.
I had this game as a kid but has a PS2 instead of the original PS, so I couldn’t save. I played the first few levels so much that I had all the lines from the Professor and Natalie memorized up until you get the Super Hoop. I remember I sometimes spent literally entire days trying to beat the whole game in one setting, and I think I got up to the the last boss fight with Jake, but never completely finished it (I was a little kid who never paid attention to tutorials so I died A LOT)
When I used to try to find this game by description it always brought up tomba, or Gex. Now that I finally see it, it’s so nostalgic and I finally can rest lol
Hey Spazbo4 how did you or any of the other longplayers you may/may not know, feel to see that a game from the Ape Escape series was finally going to be on TH-cam?
Same Here. Glad I’m Not The Only One Who Fell In Love With This Legendary Video Game From The Very First Time I Played It Back When I Was Just A Kid👦🏾 . I Used To Play Ape Escape All The Damn Times Back In My Old Days. I Miss Those Days Though Man😭🐵🐒🎮📀📺
You didnt played until the end. After that you'd have to capture ALL the monkeys and then unlock the final showdown with Specter, where in the end you'd capture it.
When I was a kid, I didn't know it. But as an adult, I realize I was playing the first game ever to make it mandatory to use two analog sticks. Like, man. That's history right there.
Hey, I would like to ask how do you play this game on PC? what emulator do you use? I still have the original PS 1 Ape Escape CD, but don't have the PS1 anymore :( Thanks :)
I read that Sony shut don’t the studio who made Ape escape in November 2021. I hope someone remakes this game someday still though , it was soo amazing , I used to love beating it as a kid , it felt like a cool movie.
It was such a good game. But I wish it was an advertizing success elsewhere except Japan. Sure they had a mini american cartoon series of shorts but that's not enough.
I remember this game being kind of sad for some reason, aren’t their like two friends and one ends up going bad and the other one has to like trap him at the end or something ? Idk
I don't get why there no remake for ps5 It will still win game of the year I promise you Nostalgic kinda make us buy the game especially those who born 1900 till 2001
17:52 Professor, I rather destroy that helmet. Wearing it is dangerous. You knew all along that it can give you superior intellectual mind, BUT it will mess you up insanely bad when folks seek ambition.
I played this as kid but never came to the end. Today I remembered this game again and after all these years I finally saw it 😌
Weak sauce. I beat this game countless times as a 5-10 year old
*The intro where the dude with white hair puts on the head thingy and looks up is ICONIC to my childhood*
And he's monke...
His name is Specter.
dude same. core memory

so iconic that you don't realize it's a monkey or know what the head thingy is :DD
Ape Escape has made video game history.
Do you mean with the analog stick?
@@gr8gmr yes i do.
It was really amazing when it was new, and i can't really think of anything like it.

If Ape Escape is legendary so what happen with Super Mario 64.
The amazing nostalgia this game brings is just so pure those that played when they were younger will understand
Heck i even remember this one had some kickass music tracks, damn.
I miss the drum & bass boom of the late 90s and 2000s
AKA the game that proved that Analog Controls do work in console video games.
That game was first and it was made specially for new Analog Controller.

Ape Escape, Jumping Flash!, Tenchu, and Bushido Blade.
