RIP to the late-great Scott Hall. Here the Bad Guy talks about one of his most famous matches against Sean Waltman (aka 123 Kid, X-Pac, Syxx).
According to Scott, Vince McMahon was planning on turning Razor Ramon babyface since the crowd was really getting behind him. Instead of doing it the old fashioned way, he came up with the idea to have the former Lightning Kid (now the 123 Kid) beat Razor in a major upset.
Find out from Scott how the wrestlers in the locker room reacted and how the storyline continued. This feud was one of the coolest things from the entire Monday Night Raw series.

I remember that 1-2-3 Kid match. Was blown away and surprised and he absolutely mad it look believable, like he was just caught offguard by the moonsault.
The knee-to-the-head was perfect. Added total credibility to it. Looked like a freak accident that knocked Razor out.
Wish Scott Hall was still with us. Remember when kid beat him, was shocker at the time
He was the absolute GOAT of these old shoot interviews. He would be perfect for a modern day podcast. Sad we can't have that. RIP.
I think what started him turning was facing Backlund at Mania. He was so much cooler than Bob. He got a face reaction. Then the next month the match with Kid.
That's because Backlund is an actual wrestler!!! Ur stuck on fake performance instead of a real wrestler.... Grow up.... Smh
His work was at least 15 years behind. Doing a leg sweep and then doing weird movements afterwards was embarrassing.
Not to mention Bob is in my opinion the worst wwwf/wwf champion ever 5 years for nothing
Regarding Backlund, it was his character that was more behind the times than anything. He was great as a heel a year later.

I liked Sean better as 123 Kid than as X-Pac. His early face underdog matches gave off a Zac Gowen kind of winning against the odds vibe.
Not only did Sean's early work seem more impressive, but it was easier to root for Sean as a face underdog instead of a Kliq stooge.
I miss razor. He's so underrated when it comes to being one of the best all time as all around package.
What really made the angle work was that the 4 previous weeks The Kid would wrestle in a losing effort but he went by a different name each time. Lightning kid, kamikazi kid etc. Then he gets a fluke win and off to the races
The whole angle was very well done
Only 2 wrestler deaths have ever made me tear up. Hot Rod and this man. RIP bad guy. 😞
It was a great moment on Raw
I remember Razor being in that program against DiBiase at the time and DiBiase being a big one mocking Razor for his loss to the Kid.
Didn't DiBiase do a match on TV a few weeks later to show "how easy it was to beat the Kid" and, after giving the Kid a cocky beatdown for a while, trying a lazy pin and end up getting rolled and pinned by the Kid himself?

123 kid had more spunk than anyone at the time , it didn't matter he wasn't big and didnt have "the look" , I really liked him when he came on the scene.
He was killing himself out there. He was the first "lightweight" to really get over/be put over, as far as I can remember.

It was like on a Saturday night main event in late 1986 between Jake and Savage. Heel vs heel. Savage more cocky vs Jake as more of a tough guy. I'm sure Vince wanted Randy to turn face, but fans got behind Jake. Good stuff here.
I would absolutely love to see that Shawn vs. Razor, heel vs. Heel match at MSG. It would be amazing!!
Shawn as a heel was an insufferable bastard. You know they would want the Cuban Mob Boss looking guy to tear his head off

So they booked this angle six months in advance, and it was far more memorable than when they were writing the show during the show. It’s almost like that worked better🤔
I was a big Sean Waltman fan but I never thought he would be more than a jobber in the WWF cause it was the era of the big men in wrestling.Guys like him and Rey Mysterio really paved the way for smaller guys to succeed in the wrestling business-

I was at the DiBiase Summer Slam Match.. good to hear him talk about it and how much that match meant to him. The one thing that surprises me is they were concerned about Razor’s popularity then why wait 6 months to change it?

The babyface turn was incredible because they built sympathy heat for Razor not being able to beat The Kid. The fans rubbed it in his face with "123" chants at KOTR but when Money Inc. tore into him, all the fans got behind Razor right away. A+ storytelling
I swear I thought razor was going to lose his mind, the unbelievable skill of this man. He was so good I bought all his bullshit😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 pray the lord look over him for the good he done making people happy
In the time of weekly squashy matches, the 123 Kid beating Razor was certainly a shock to us wrestling fans. One, if not, the best ways to ever introduce a wrestler to the fans.
What turned him is that they didn’t have the Macho Man or Bret Hart angles anymore. Those guys were both cool in their own way.
Then after those, he’s cooler than every babyface he wrestles
Had he not passed, Scott should have been involved in creative somewhere. He was too smart to the business not to utilize.

Totally forgot about how they used to do a 20 count for outside the ring. They went to a 10 count but was slower so in the end even out.
One of my favorite moments
The 123 Kid take down and the energy that followed was an epic moment to watch on tv as a kid. I was blown away by the take down lol. Easily one of my 10 ten fav memories/matches to watch as a kid.
Probably the most creative way to have a guy turn face plus it got over another wrestler in the process with the 123 Kid. Really wish they tried more creative ways to turn guys these days instead of the same 3 variations over and over and over again.
the crowd always sides with the tougher heel.

Wrestling in the 70s, 80s, and 90s had to be one of the greatest careers a guy could have. Pretty awesome how great of friends kevin Nash, Scott Hall, xpac, triple H, and shawn michaels are/were (rip hall). I always wanted to be a pro wrestler as a kid, but unfortunately I just didn't have the genetics. What a great business.

Somehow I remember watching a video of Scott Hall saying losing to the Kid was his idea and Vince was upset about it because he did it on Raw without telling Vince; that it was Scott's idea to put Kid over.

Am I the only one who never liked the 123 Kid, or Sixx, or Xpac or whatever the hell Sean wants to call himself? The Bronco Buster was right up there with Rikishi’s ass face thing on the list of terrible moves.
Waltman should blow the Klique on command for giving him a career.
