Chancing upon the Huawei Mate 7 ten years ago opened my eyes up to how Chinese phones were comparable if not superior to Samsung/iPhone, that price advantage has closed a lot now, if not non-existent. Had to bin Huawei (last was P30 Pro) when the Google ban happened, S21, S22, F3 and then to iPhone14PM (battery is excellent). Think I’m back to Android with Honor Fold V3(rebranded Huawei in all honesty). Just wish the battery life was better
Sorry, not a rebranded Huawei. Huawei sold the Honor brand to Shenzhen Zhixin New Information Technology Co., Ltd in November of 2020. So Honor has had no relation to Huawei for nearly four years now. Get with the program.
Great job, Ben. Your analysis is on target, concise, and true. I have been following you for a while. I currently have the Z Fold 6 and Oneplus Open. The Chinese phones are nice. Samsung is falling short and not giving all that we want. I give it to Google for trying to make thier foldable phone better. I believe Oneplus Open 2 will be the phone to beat in the US eventually. I am considering the global version for Honor V3 fold. Thank you for your review.
I subscribed great video, i have a S24 ultra as my bar phone, but decided to go get the Honor V3 as a foldable phone it looked stunning i love the thinness and how you can multi task with ease.. don't get me wrong its by no means perfected but hopefully by the V4 or 5 it will be and im sure by then it will make all other mainstream ones looks pathetic.
to anyone asking.. the global magic v3 works on verizon, tmobile, at&t and all the other usa carriers but you need to import it, sites like wonda mobile or averagedad and then put your sim card in it. however you may not have wifi calling
Great comparasion! I'm rocking the V3 for a month so far and I love the hardware and software freedom, and the faster performance, but the pixel's AI features are also really amazing. You can't go wrong with either device 👍

Honor magic v2 has floating apps, all media apps (what's up,insta) can be displayed on top of splitting display as floating apps, so multitasking is positive and possible.thanks for the effort and nice video ! What you think is the best smart watch to use for magic v2?
Another great comparison.👍 in terms of hardware there is no contest, Honor by a landslide. Software, well I never used MagicOS so can't comment about that. Pixel UI is good but I too find it a little bit to restrictive.
Ben, Love watching your videos thank you! Ive been using Iphone forever and wanted jump to these lovely foldable phones. Which phones would work in Sydney/Australia?
I have been waiting for this comparison, i have pre ordered both and thorn on which one to keep. With the free bang and olufsen headphones and pen that comes with the v3 i think that would be it for me even though i am going to miss on the software experience and quick updates
Nice comparison. Really good side by side. Just to note, you CAN get rid of the search bar and At a Glance by using a different launcher. But that's likely true on any Android device.
I'm still torn between these two lol but I have to say this is the best review of any phone I have seen! Well done Ben, you've just gained a new subscriber 👍🏻
As someone who owns foldables from Galaxy Fold 1 up until now owning the Pixel 9 Pro fold ( 6 foldables and 2 flip phones) I think you got every single aspect of your comparison right!
I love keeping up with what is going on outside North America in foldables. Someday, the global market will open up and we'll have some great phones! (not that I dislike the Pixel 9 Pro Fold)
After watching a few of your videos today, I think I am selling my Pixel 9 Fold that I got yesterday and preordering the Magic V3. I tried it in a store and the weight and thinness alone won me over (that Pixel is CHUNKY, especially with a case) but the multitasking part is what finally convinced me. Floating windows FTW.
Enable freeform window under developer options, thank me later. And dont forget Enable non-resizable in Multi-window too otherwise you will whine about that it doesnt work for all apps. You know why its in dev options for years? Cause dev's dont implement it properly.
Great review. Im in the US and haven't pulled the trigger on the foldable format yet. Samsung's form factor is just not going to do it for me. I'm considering the Pixel, but as you point out, there are two things i can't get over: jarring left upper bezel on the main front folded screen and multitasking window limitation!! Why Google??
Waiting for this video as I'm considering these two as the only good options considering the hardware and the price range. Of course OnePlus Open is also a considerable option.
I got Honor(M6P) and Google(P8P). I live outside USA. Pixel is good but it's so limited outside USA in terms of capabilities you cannot get all it's capabilities If you are outside US. While the Honor hardware is superb and their OS is improving everyrime. In terms of camera it's Pixel as alot of noise compare to Honor. Not planning to buy another Pixel because once again I am outside USA and I cannot enjoy it's full capabilities while on the other side I am planning to buy the new Honor's tablet and Laptop because of the Magic Ring. Also Magic Portal killed it alot better than circle to search. Once again AWESOME review Ben!
Great comparison video. 2 things: Magic V3 misses too many bands for North American carriers to be viable for me. On the Pixel, activate Freeform in Developer Options for a crude way to have free floating windows until Google officially addresses it.
Have both ( i bought the honor cuz it was cheaper and it only made me want the pixel more...no regrets) and can say that the pixel camera feels like its not as good as even the 7 pro. But actually using the phone is a dream and what samsung is missing imo for their foldable. V3 is my first Honor phone and im a huge fan with the exception of the apps you cant delete or change the language to and its inability to pair with my samsung watch. But from a software perspective, its like a cooler samsung ui. If you buy either, or both, you'll love them
3:31 Honor Magic is giving a Ultra version hardware quality at a midrange price. While other phones such as the Pixel foldable is giving just a little above midrange hardware at a premium price. I think Google and others need to make two models a midrange quality for $1400, and an Ultra version at $1800 price range. 7:12 Google need to fix this multi-tasking problem, they need to have both split screen mode for apps and floating windows that can resize for apps. Split screen and floating resizable windows are must-have features. 😎💯💪🏾👍🏾
I never could really put my finger on why i didn't like the pixel UI but you've said it best, pixel UI feels restrictive and bland. 2:10 we don't need all the angles on it, but i get your point tho
Very good comparison! Thanks for that. 👌I have a quick question. Does the Windows "Smartphone Link" feature work with the V3? So I can copy text on my PC or phone and paste it on the other device?
A good review but worth doing again post Android 15. Love the thinness of the V3 but have concerns over hinge looseness and medium term resilience in the hand. Thin is great but doesn't necessarily make it more robust - can be quite the contrary. Google are at the forefront of AI. Pixel phones shouldn't be critiqued purely on hardware alone ever. 7 years of updates Pixel is a future proof safe bet. I have the Honor magic 6 pro by the way it's an incredible phone so not an Honor hater by any stretch.
Totally right about the multi tasking. You buy a foldable for that as well as other stuff. Most android phones can run two apps anyway so a foldable needs to do more. Maybe iPhone will run two apps on the same screen one day!
You are right Ben on the multitasking, but truly, can we do more than one thing at a time effectively? Not to talk of three. Overall, Chinese phones will take over the phone market in the nearest future because they listen to the needs of their customers
At the end of the day it comes down to warranty support. You can easily get the Z Fold/Pixel Fold replaced/repaired if you have any issues. If something happened to these Chinese foldables you might get left with an expensive paper weight. I don't know about Honor, but some with the OnePlus Open have reported it takes weeks if not longer to get help with their with warranty. Y
I see this, and sure. It looks amazing. But I had to go with Google pixel 9 pro fold cause, that's the only foldable my carrier has that's not a samsung (hate onUi) But, these brands just showing their amazing engineering skills.
This is the comparison we are waiting for. Overall the pixel is slightly better than the V3 just 52.5% : 47.5%. Tec reviewers should not stress manufacturers to size reduction. It is subjected to consumer preference. I think the total thickness of 10mm 5/5 should be the maximum standard. What is important is the bend test. Hinge strength and foldable durability. For me Samsung foldable Z6 is still the best for now mostly because of the software but the small outer screen display is the draw back in addition with the outer displays not using s-pen.
At 3:47, you can read restaurant name very clearly from Honor photo, where Pixel has completely blown up the text. Anyway, what's your best pick in terms of monster camera, best battery, software and overall between three phones: Magic V3, Vivo Fold 3 Pro, and Xiaomi Fold 4? Already got her Samsung Fold 6, not completely happy, but it was safe option. Need to get one mine now. I am truly after Huawei Tri fold device, but software... Not sure if can manage that lol
Honor v3 easily for me... The pixel looks dated in design with those curved corners and massive bezels... I prefer the V3s post processing.. photos look cleaner and more consistent.
nica review .. but im sure there are those foldable smartphone in the category, all of thwm is still up to date, so like mix fold newest and others olders also have a better review , where newer doesnt mean better for overall , certainly. but those lenovo phablet devices thats stays in china and nearest asia country would alledgedly want to hold those newer devices, i suppos3. still those older model might be the best options on the market ,with the market and economical situation becoming vary , and well aware of technological offer for those who has access susch as yourself sir. if i may suggest any blogs or entry needed to be made for consumer and future comparisons. while i support where folds are still fresh and still new to the old world, such as third world countey and lower, not many even aware of these new devices existence.that is a big ideas that i wish fir youtubers need diligent or even exquisite taste and touch in reviews. thanks for the reviews
In hardware Honor and Vivo are in a league of their own by lightyears superiority and even as a Samsung Knight I admit that. However, in software Samsung is phenomenal with stylus gestures , Samsung TV gaming emulation ecosystem, galaxy AI like sketch to image my favorite multi tasking etc. I will import Honor and Vivo to Here in the US because the hardware is incredible!
Finally, it's here! I've been waiting for this comparison for a long time. I need to buy a foldable phone, so the real question is: should I go for the Honor Magic V3 or the Vivo? I'm mostly focused on photo and video quality.

Thanx for Detailed comparison sir, but sadly I couldn't grab Honor in India.
I never could really put my finger on why i didn't like the pixel UI but you've said it best, pixel UI feels restrictive and bland.
2:10 we don't need all the angles on it, but i get your point tho
Pixel user here. Love the simple and more relatable review
Gr8 comparison but would love to see a more detailed comparison of software on both phones
you praised where the praise was due! 🙏😊👍
They need to bring it to the US market.
Global Version works in U.S.
Very good comparison! Thanks for that. 👌I have a quick question. Does the Windows "Smartphone Link" feature work with the V3? So I can copy text on my PC or phone and paste it on the other device?
It should. I saw the option in a video in the settings at least in the global variant.
@@Seelendrache Many thanks for the information! 👍
How is the V3 camera compared to the Oneplus open?
A good review but worth doing again post Android 15. Love the thinness of the V3 but have concerns over hinge looseness and medium term resilience in the hand. Thin is great but doesn't necessarily make it more robust - can be quite the contrary. Google are at the forefront of AI. Pixel phones shouldn't be critiqued purely on hardware alone ever. 7 years of updates Pixel is a future proof safe bet. I have the Honor magic 6 pro by the way it's an incredible phone so not an Honor hater by any stretch.
You're the best man 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Totally right about the multi tasking.
Hey - can you let me know what calendar app/widget you have on the phones in 1:19 ? As it looks much better than the default google calendar !
Business calendar
At the end of the day it comes down to warranty support. You can easily get the Z Fold/Pixel Fold replaced/repaired if you have any issues. If something happened to these Chinese foldables you might get left with an expensive paper weight. I don't know about Honor, but some with the OnePlus Open have reported it takes weeks if not longer to get help with their with warranty. Y
Ok I ain’t ever said any of y’all should buy it
Thank you for your video
I see this, and sure. It looks amazing. But I had to go with Google pixel 9 pro fold cause, that's the only foldable my carrier has that's not a samsung (hate onUi)
But, these brands just showing their amazing engineering skills.
Thanks for the great video. Can you do a comparison between the pixel 9 pro fold and vivo 3 x fold pro, please
The bezel on the google phone works for folded landscape gaming if you want your palms to not touch the screen.
So which one worth to buy?
Thank for that feedback, I way going to trade my v3 global for a pixel 9 pro fold
love it!
Well said
nica review .. but im sure there are those foldable smartphone in the category, all of thwm is still up to date, so like mix fold newest and others olders also have a better review , where newer doesnt mean better for overall , certainly. but those lenovo phablet devices thats stays in china and nearest asia country would alledgedly want to hold those newer devices, i suppos3. still those older model might be the best options on the market ,with the market and economical situation becoming vary , and well aware of technological offer for those who has access susch as yourself sir. if i may suggest any blogs or entry needed to be made for consumer and future comparisons. while i support where folds are still fresh and still new to the old world, such as third world countey and lower, not many even aware of these new devices existence.that is a big ideas that i wish fir youtubers need diligent or even exquisite taste and touch in reviews. thanks for the reviews
Photography and videography, just get vivo no questions asked, no competition as a foldable in camera terms
@@DJGAMINGRocks to you it’s way better ?
@@alexdenton6586 yes bro I used OnePlus open, honor Magic V3 and now switched to vivo x fold 3 pro CN version, no match
@@DJGAMINGRocks How about thickness and size, which one you found more comfortable to carry around and use daily?
@@TolySamson honor and vivo most comfortable
I fell in love with Honor with their V2 fold, but I'm hard stuck in the apple ecosystem, the pain.
Same here. If you live in the US and do trading, crypto, personal stuff. You will be safer with the fold.
Can that icon layout on the honor be achieved with the Nova Launcher? Cheers.
Bro I'm big fan of you
Your content always unique and different
Plss give me honor v3 is my favorite mobile phone ever
