Hi Johnny. I love your channel. I live in a town called New Milton in Hampshire England. I’m about 300 yards from the old Rickman factory. I remember these bikes as a kid. Rickmans also made off road bike kits. When I was about 15, 1985, rickmans also started making sick bmx framesets if which I had three. Moving on the Rickmans made a component “kit” car or two. I remember the two brothers quite well. Good guys. Great products. Much better times. Thought you might be interested.
Love watching you bring ‘em back.

Nice job and sounds good. I had a 74 for about 10 years, Wiseco 1015 with cylinder decked to the circumference of the piston, welded crank pins i got a KZ 1000 head with the bigger studs so i drilled out header clamps, 29 smooth bores, 417 megacycle cams, good springs naturally, electronic ign. Manley SS valves, also had a gate in front of the oil pan to keep oil from leaving the oil pump area. RK gold chain with a drilled out gold AL rear sprocket, i like that frame!! Get rid of the center stand, that frame could easily handle a good strong 1100 CC motor, nothing compared to new bikes but in its day fast and good to have the 3 discs and a strong frame. Did that have the Lester mags? They were popular back then, i had an AKRONT rear wheel, SS spokes, wider and it was beautiful AL, made the tire maybe 1/2 wider due to added rim width.

All due respect ... and this is not meant to critisize but these Rickman chasis were designed ... obviously ... to improve handling, braking and clearances . Two things I would have done ... and I will mention I put together several of them back in the day ..... 1- Chased down a Yoshimira pipe and 2 - Ditched the center stand which is going to drag even in shallow corners . both detract from the purpose of this chasis. Really enjoying your videos Johnny !

I owned one of these in 90s UK. Beautiful, but heavy as a house. It had a nice smooth power delivery, though and sounded so so sexy. Mine was red and gold and in better condition than this still very handsome beast.

I put together a few of these back in 76 .... ..Rickman manufactured these for the z1, 750 Honda and Triumph . The idea was to make what were the fastest bikes out there that handled like crap competitive in road racing . The pipe on this bike would be a poor choice ....will drag thru all the corners. Yoshimira hand bent header was the only real choice out there .

That’s not what a Rickman is! You want a stock bike buy a stock bike. You’d ruin the frame just trying to make all the tabs to mount everything stock.

Wow dude this bike when a mile over your head didn't it. Its a special like a Harris or a Triton. A Rickman would handle a mile better than a Z1 I rode a z900 it has a flexi frame. I ran a tuned z650 for years then a z1100 lovely engine but a Rickman is the business. If someone likes 70's inlíne four cylinder bikes this is the cream. If someone rolls up on a stock bike it's OK but a special commands respect. People who know their bikes will get it. Lightweights won't.
