77 KZ1000A "Ol Skool" Kawasaki Custom Restoration WY

  • The owner of this 1977 Kawasaki KZ1000A came to us from Wyoming. He wanted us to clean up the bike and bring a lot of it back to original, except for the disk brake on the rear, maintaining the smaller turn signals and handlebars, and leaving the chrome rear fender off, using the inner plastic fender only. This is documentation of our communication to the customer on his rebuild.

I remember walking to school when I was a kid and seeing a KZ1000 parked and it always caught my eye.
It's an amazing bike for the time.

Beatiful job! I had a 77 KZ. Paid $2600 in Tacoma, WA. Same type K&N filters with Kerker exhaust. I painted mine a midnight blue that had a silver metalic base. Your color looks a little more luminescent. Nice. I love that the chrome rear fender is gone. Gives the bike a better balance, it's more sleek. Thanks for all your rebuilds. Great work.

Memories of a few of the bikes in my town back in the day!
I must admit that I dig them with the KZ 1000 more. Lol that badge just said " I'm the baddest & the fastest" to me as a boy waiting for my time to arrive.
    Awesome machine there! Thank you!

Very cool.Reminds me of my Z1000 that I ran back in the day when I had long hair in the Old Country. Blue like this one, with gold striping, I believe initially a Z650 colour. Loved that thing. These look great in blue. I had a Marving one-in-four on that one with a tiny silencer that was ridiculous, you could hear me coming a mile and a half away.
Been without a bike since I came to the US in1993 .... I think I feel something itching somewhere .....

I have the same bike but a 78. A couple of things I notice here are that this one appears to have a Ltd tank not the A1 tank and how much better they look with the correct 18" rear wheel. As that appears to be the A1 frame I'm not sure why it didn't have the rear disc master cylinder mounts as they came with a rear disc. Beautiful polishing work, I like the Z1 tailpiece and rear light.
