    In 1973 I had a 1969 Ducati 350, my first bike. A friend had an early H2 and that was a wild ride. Then, another friend got a new Z1 like this one. When I rode it, it had maybe 30 miles on it. Around here there wasn't much traffic on the interstate in 1973. :-) I've never forgotten that ride...

    I had one of these in the exact same color. Mine had 4 into 2 exhaust and a 5.20x18 rear tire. That bike was extremely dependable and I road it everywhere every day. I wish I still had it too. The sound it made was great with the Kerker pipes.

    Wow, when you were warming it up I had a deja vu moment remembering the smell of the early 70's bikes when they were new. So strange. Hey Z MAN you've got a winner there and you know you took it to the correct shop. That bike would look real nice running down the highway here in sunny Arizona!

    Thanks for showing your treasure. It looks like somebody rode it home from the dealer, took it apart and stored it for 45 years. It's a beauty.
    They would turn the quarter mile in middle to high 12s.
    Mine, in 1977, stock but with Kerker headers and an almost stock engine, stock gearing, would burn the stock back tire for
    105' in 1st gear,
    52' in 2nd,
    5' in 3rd,
    The quarter was up,
    at, I think around 108 mph. That tells two things: One, it had lots of power. Two, it needed lots more rubber on the track.
    Honda has been the most capable motor company in the world. Kawasaki made some
    mean mota scuta..

    I rode the original Z-1 in 1972. I worked for an advertising agency in Tokyo called Inter Image. They did worldwide pamphlets and posters for Caucasian countries so Japanese models (riders) did not appear in the ads. It was a great experience. I rode my H-1 to the office in downtown Tokyo where it stayed parked in a garage for about two weeks while we traveled around Japan filming all the different Kawasaki models for the coming year.

    Like your videos especially since I fully restored many bikes including a 72 Kawasaki H1. Would like to see you wear a helmet when you test your bikes- one day may be a problem- saw a dog almost run in from of you once.

    • @Johnnysvintage
      @Johnnysvintage  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Diogenes Lamp, thank you for your interest in our videos. I can appreciate what you're saying about the helmet, I get it all the time. That was my dog Brutus, and we don't go out on the road ever without a helmet, just on our property. I know that doesn't mean it's safe. Thanks again.

    You have the early 73 meters, sometimes called 72 meters because they were only fitted to bikes with a build date in 72...tacho has a straight 7 not curved and the 20 increment on the speedo has the line level with the base of the 2, not the middle of the 2 as on the later "73" speedo.

    Nice, very nice bike. I got a 73 Z1 that needs some parts replaced. I'm looking at your parts and they are some really good affordable prices. My question is my swing arm has slop in it side to side is there bearings or bushing and can they be ordered from your shop or auto parts store? Or can it be converted to a timkin bearing if possible. If i tear it down is it gonna drop all the ball bearings every where? I don't see or haven't located it on your site yet. I really like to get it going again been in garage too long and front master cylinder needs reworking. Bike never been stored outside but sweaty garage and sheds has reeked havoc on it. I'd appreciate some help. It needs a seat cover and cushion, someone put a jc Whitney king queen seat on it also.

    • @Johnnysvintage
      @Johnnysvintage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      We can repair the swing arm for you. They started with bushings. You can change it over to bearings. We also have the replated swing arm end caps

    Kawasaki needs to make these again and not this retro shit either. One exactly like the 73 but with disc brakes. Manufacturers that make the retro stuff, those bikes are a bit ugly. They just don't look right.
