Basically Todoroki's mom was talking with her mother about how she can't take living in that house anymore and that raising Todoroki is becoming too much for her. She was describing how every day Todoroki seems to look more and more like his father and how his fire side looks terrifying to her. When she burned him she didn't see *him* she saw a mini version of the man who's abused her for over a decade and reacted without thinking.
darkflame728 She didn't see Endeavor, she knew it was Todoroki. She just wanted to get back at anything that has to do with him, even her own son. She just went psycho and fucked up lol.
And Endeavor sent the mother to a mental hospital not as in what they were thinking in her getting the s@it kicked in but it's very easy to assume that so can't blame them
No, she wasn't trying to 'get back' at her husband by burning her son. In that moment, she looked at her son and saw her abusive husband. You can see in the way Todoroki is standing in that moment, where the lighting is illuminating his 'fire' side while his other side remains in shadow. That wasn't coincidental, it was very purposeful on the animators' part.
I always found that odd, considering according to Todoroki, Endeavor basically paid off his mother’s parents to marry her. So his mom is calling her mother who basically sold her out to having a horrible marriage.
When I first watched I was triggered too it should have at least been a tie because the teachers interfered (I still think about what would have happened if they didn’t)
When Todoroki walked in his mom could only see his fire half because of the door, this reminded her of Endeavour which caused her to have a mental breakdown and burn Todoroki so Endeavour sent her to a mental hospital
There was a reason that Deku lost this fight with Todoroki. Not only was it showing us how overpowered Todoroki was at that point but it also was saying that even though Deku is the underdog and we expected him to win because of that, that doesn’t mean he was going too. Because he still has a lot to learn and grow and he still has to gain better control of One For All. The moment that Deku convinced Todoroki to use his fire is the very moment that he lost. Plus if Midnight and Cementoss hadn’t interfered Deku and Todoroki would have either killed them selves or possibly injured the people in the audience.
Even if Deku had won he wouldn't be able to participate in the next match because of his self-sustained injuries. Recovery Girl's ability isn't as simple as just healing someone.
I'm sad that they didn't put how rei actually regretted her action, Shouto's scar is a frost burn because his mother poured boiling water on him and in panic used her quirk on him to 'easen' the pain, but it actually made it worse. It's basic knowledge not to put ice over the wound as it will make it worse and will create a frost burn scar. Also Shoto would actually not have the scar if she just poured boiling water on him since he could withstand heat.
The mother didn't turn against him think of it as a nervous breakdown and her paranoia to the possibility of Todoroki becoming like Endevour. Endevour put her in the mental hospital just to be clear.

it's been said on record that this episode made the creator of My Hero, Kohei Horikoshi, cry. Studio Bones really knew how to respect the artist's vision. a lot of Shounen battle series have combat tournaments, it's not anything new. DragonBall, Naruto, HunterxHunter, and the goal is mainly to win the tournament right then & there, aside from some characters having a different agenda. but with My Hero, it's really just used as a cover for development for the most part, while still having "win the tournament" as a goal. as the fights go on, we begin to see some of the character's flaws & true intentions throughout the matches, which gives them room to improve later on. losing/winning the fight is secondary in this. the characters come first, for the most part.

Adrian H yea, but even in an open battle he’d still win against most of the class. Besides Bakugo (if he doesn’t use his fire) and Full Power Dark Shadow
the reason deku lost is because he jumped. todoroki locked himself in place with ice, so when the explosion went off, deku got launched out of the ring while todoroki just got shoved into the ice behind him. it's a matter of tactical movements, not power, because you've already seen all might launch nomu into low earth orbit with one punch, one for all packs one hell of a wallop.
The thing is deku jumped to put more force into his punch even if he didn't jump he still would have been launched back past the edge with how far he was blown back because he didn't have anything to hold him in place any ways the only way he would have been able to stay in the ring was if he used one for all in his feet and planted them into the ring but then that would have broke his legs and he wouldn't have been able to charge forward to punch still causing him to lose. He was just out matched at this point in the series.
I also feel like Bakugou still has that spark haha The undaunted, tenacious, ambitious (albeit somewhat selfish and naive) quality that comes with youth Unlike Endeavor who decides to settle for no. 2 and create Todoroki as a way to knock off the no. 1, Bakugou has that won't-settle-for-less, absolute victory ideology with him. ! SPOILER ! Even though there was that low moment in the Deku & Bakugou vs All Might Fight, Bakugou gets his sht together real quick and goes right back at it. One of the main reasons I respect the guy so much tbh :)
I love this fight. Deku and Shoto are just great characters. It kinda bugs me, though, that this is kinda the height of Todoroki's development. After this arc... he stays in the main cast (alongside Deku, Bakugou, Ochako, and Ida) but he never gives me the same chills I got in throughout the tournament. Still, I never get tired of watching him gear up those flames for his final attack. I also love that ya'll (except Rana and Nahid) seem to be warming up to Bakugou and acknowledged that he COULD have been like Endeavor but he has his classmates around to keep him in check.
Fox Sin Meh Shoto is still the best Todoroki. He definitely gets more depth. And then there is the TetsuTetsu fight. Can’t wait for it to be animated. I love Endeavor but Todoroki is not only about chills but about feels. Some of his smallest lines are some of the most heartfelt and pure. All this when Todoroki didn’t even have a huge 1 vs 1 battle after this arc. But boy does he get more complicated and deeper. His reaction to Endy fighting squeezed my heart. And showed he is just a little kid who does care or want to hope for his dad.
Honestly I tell this to everyone but Todoroki is probably my all time favorite character and that is certainly not because of how badass he is. If Hori wanted to just focus on that rather than the complexity then he would have won in ep 12. He is op but not perfect. He is actually suffering from the effects of long term abuse in how hesitant he is in expressing himself and how difficult it is to connect. But he still tries and often his imperfections and his belief and understanding in others force them to act (Momo/ Iida). He is someone who can be amazing and is happy to take the back seat and let others shine. I know people who want to see the cool awesome Todoroki back but it is his imperfections that really makes him relatable and his struggle to get out of his cycle of abuse that much more palpable. Just think for a bit. Todoroki’s struggles with his powers, the others perception of him as this cold guy are all of Todoroki’s own making, his own helpless rage against not being able to do anything. And he is realizing that he isn’t faultless and though justified did many things wrong but is still trying his best. He is slowly finding heroic passion, finding and healing himself. Which is a much better arc than having him give chills whenever he is onscreen and be a badass. He is someone who could be the cool genius trope. But Todoroki breaks those tropes with how flawed he is, how mature he is and how he observes and tries to reach out to his fellow classmates but isn’t called inspiring or lauded by the class. He is called pretty boy sure but don’t think that matters to him lol
6:38-7:35 If they're shocked about what Endeavour did to Shoto, just wait till they see what Endeavour did to his Eldest Son(Assuming if the Theory is Correct)
Nahid is mad about the fact that Deku might actually win had they not stopped the fight, kind of like some of the guys from Blindwave's complaint. But I do agree with the others, Deku wouldn't have won now, but he might in the near future. He's still trying to adjust from the quirk he just got and he's fighting someone who has been abusively trained since he was a kid. the difference in experience already says a lot. Great reaction, guys! That remote control drop tho. HAHAHAHA! Became a patron for this reaction! Great job, you guys! Just a question, where do I go if I got anime suggestions for you guys????
Marie Hancock if. For this ep that’s like someone saying well if him continuously using ice didn’t slow him down and make his ice weaker he would have beaten deku before it got to the final clash.
@@kingzgaming3467 lol if we are playing in ifs todoroki would have destroyed deku without blinking if all might didn't give deku his power... Point being it doesint matter about ifs the fact is he brakes bones using his power so he lost. Discounting weaknesses is stupid in an argument and that serves as a reason for deku to train harder.
My desire for every reactor in existence to watch Mob Psycho 100 goes up to ??? % !! Im not here to start a ONE-war but I appreciate MP100 more than OPM...
Todoroki loves his mom though. It isn’t really clear yet but when talking to Midoriya he says Endeavor hurt his mom, and the quirk marriage. He tells Midoriya about his mom pouring the boiling water but tells Midoriya that he won’t be a tool for his scumbag of a father. It shows what he considers important in all the abuse that happened. Not his shitty training though he really has dark ass memories of that but what happened to his mom
7:14 In the sub he says "Where are you looking at" The dub is equally as badass. But Izuku calling todoroki out for not focusing on the match, is seriously chilling
Thing with this particular fight is, Deku wasn't trying to win by about the halfway point. Deku realistically would of won the fight, if Todoroki went on never using his fire. Midoriya's entire motivation for the fight was getting Shoto to stop holding back, and getting him to use all of his power. He couldn't stand watching Shoto purposefully limit himself, while every other student was giving it their all. If this fight went the other way, and Deku just tried winning, Shoto might still be the same as he was before, and eventually have the possibility of becoming a villain. Todoroki starts working towards being the best hero he can be after this point, and tries reconciling things with his father. He also shows up to help with things like Stain, and helping rescue Bakugo in season 3. All of which never would have happened, if Midoriya hadn't helped Todoroki.
Endeavor made LITERALLY the perfect combination of quirks "Quirk's are physical abilities" "They have to have some kind of limit" But Todoroki, at full power with both sides, keeps autoregulating himself so he has literally no limit to the time he can use his quirk for He could exert ice and fire infinitely Also Todoroki has siblings because quirks combine in weird ways and Endeavor wanted specifically a child that has BOTH quirks, not a combination of the two To put an example the two quirks could make you have water powers or steam powers instead of ice and fire (just so you understand what i mean) So todoroki is the youngest sibling (endeavor had no purpose in having more childs after him)
Todoroki built an ice wall behind himself because he knew that his move was going to cause a huge explosion (and to protect the audience from the shrapnel caused by it). I feel like that would've prevented Midoriya from ever getting close to him in the first place, but the ice would've at least slowed his launch from the ring, whereas his explosion would've absolutely knocked Midoriya out with no way for him to stop himself. I feel like in any situation, Todoroki would've won because he's just better equipped in every way.
Even if Deku won...he would have broken fucking bones everywhere and would have to be disqualified from the tournament meaning Todoroki would advance by default
This is the episode that had me tear up a bit. I mean my heart broke for Todoroki and his family. The thing he says? "I don't want to be someone who bullies you"? Is a very accurate portrayal of the anxieties and fears abuse victims have, they are afraid of becoming like their abuser. Tho I don't think Todoroki would because he knows better. He understands that his father's behaviour isn't good and that this is a pathology. That normal family is not, should not be like this. I also like how Izuku tells him to accept his power, but there is no lesson that he should forgive and welcome his father back to his life. I was cheering when I saw it first because this is such a good lesson. It tells you to live your life and not let past rule it, but that it doesn't mean you have to instantly forgive people who hurt you.Even if they are your parents. It's not really common in media. Media usually tells us that family is most important and that you should forgive them everything because they are your family. Because they still love you or something, no matter how they act. Um no. Abuse is NOT love.
Elsa had a mental breakdown, she was talking about leaving the household as she coudnt handle Endeavor and the other kids anymore, and Shoto her favorite reminded her too much of Endeavor due to his left side. When Shoto peeked through the door (with only his left side visible) she panicked thinking it was Endeavor about to beat her for thinking of leaving, so she defended herself prematurely by tossing the boiling water.
Mirio is much more powerful, todoroki isn't powerful if he keeps relying on his quirk. Hell even his father uses his fire quirk to climb walls and melt literal metal to his advantage.. At this point deku is the most over powered character, in the manga he tapped into another quirk that was passed down from one for all.. So spite having the super strengh he now has these blackish tentacles that can protect him.
FATMIC PRODUCTIONS I wasn’t even @ing you so idk what your talking about. But if you didn’t know, because you clearly don’t 3 weeks doesn’t equate to a month.
If you pay attention to the moment of the clash. You can see that todorokis attack had a bigger explosion so he won before they even showed it. Just noticed it.
The whole explosion was generated by Todoroki, Midoriya was the only thing he did was play for Todoroki, that gust of wind that he sent was cold air that when he connected with the hot Todoroki air, the explosion occurred.
Fox Sin just like one grapple on a scrub and uses his strength to break Bakugou out in another panel. If that is what shine is then yeh ok. Aoyama though got some amazing character focus. He saved Tokoyami in camp, brought together the entire class to pass the provisional, despite having a really bad quirk. He is low key one of my favorites
No that’s just a stupid translational error, when Endeavor said hospital he meant a mental hospital, not that he beat her so bad that she had to go to the hospital. In fact I’m pretty Endeavor actually never physically abused his wife, he only emotionally, psychologically and perhaps verbally abused her, and as you’ll later see in the magna through sporadic flashbacks we see that before they got married they seemed pretty happy with one another and were on good terms.
Dell12 16 Yea horikoshi even gave a statement after this scene happened in the manga when it was first translated to english; he said it was his fault for the miss communication. It’s really shitty that people sent death threats to him over it tho.

@@Scott-ql2kx never heard of hyperbole, have we?
The thing is deku jumped to put more force into his punch even if he didn't jump he still would have been launched back past the edge with how far he was blown back because he didn't have anything to hold him in place any ways the only way he would have been able to stay in the ring was if he used one for all in his feet and planted them into the ring but then that would have broke his legs and he wouldn't have been able to charge forward to punch still causing him to lose. He was just out matched at this point in the series.
Todoroki may have won... But deku won our hearts
Enigma Deku is bae
Todoroki won my heart too
Meh Todoroki won my heart too
damn right he did
Wait but they both won my hearts ✋😭
Hey Normies todorokis mom was put in a psychiatric ward of a hospital for mental health just so there is no confusion

@@ronniedeezy4831 ah, that's hot loved that fight.
Endeavor is basically an older undeveloped Bakugo.
Key word: Undeveloped
I also feel like Bakugou still has that spark haha
The undaunted, tenacious, ambitious (albeit somewhat selfish and naive) quality that comes with youth
Unlike Endeavor who decides to settle for no.
And he becomes the best character in the show after chapter 185
I just like come here once in a while to see this iconic reaction so many memories attached to this ep❤
I was waiting for this reaction since 2x03 but that remote, it seems that devil himself made it.
IDK If you keeping up with the manga but recently Shoto's development has been subtle and properly will explode into something big in the later arc

Nahid can be a brat sometimes and it gets on my nerves. Glad that some people call him out on his shit sometimes.
Nikka Marie Urayan Patreon most likely
This fight wasnt about who won it wad about shoto's character development
I like how the stakes in this fight were made real by Todoroki's past, it went from being a tournament arc to a therapy session
It's been more than a year and the remote still makes me laugh to tears
It doesn't matter if Midoriya landed that blow. Todoroki prepared huge ice barriers just in case it would've happened
run them cheeks can’t stand todoroki fan boys deku would obviously beat todoroki if he didn’t break his arms when he uses his power
Marie Hancock if. For this ep that’s like someone saying well if him continuously using ice didn’t slow him down and make his ice weaker he would have beaten deku before it got to the final clash.
@@kingzgaming3467 either way he would still be in the hospital even if he won.

TaiLow yea it’s so stupid that Horikoshi got Death Threats over his Arc.
13:07 So that's why the uncut de-synced. :'D ...
Midoriya if I wanted to win, don't lie. That's why Midoriya cries with All Might. Because he wanted to win too.
Endeavor made LITERALLY the perfect combination of quirks
"Quirk's are physical abilities"
"They have to have some kind of limit"
But Todoroki, at full power with both sides, keeps autoregulating himself so he has literally no limit to the time he can use his quirk for
He could exert ice and fire infinitely
Also Todoroki has siblings because quirks combine in weird ways and Endeavor wanted specifically a child that has BOTH quirks, not a combination of the two
To put an example the two quirks could make you have water powers or steam powers instead of ice and fire (just so you understand what i mean)
So todoroki is the youngest sibling (endeavor had no purpose in having more childs after him)
@@1999bazz im pretty sure his limit is temperature of his body we never saw him get tired
Could be wrong tho
KEZ nope, that statement is for when he used one side continuously.
Micky has clearly Lowkey googled or seen it already
Todoroki built an ice wall behind himself because he knew that his move was going to cause a huge explosion (and to protect the audience from the shrapnel caused by it). I feel like that would've prevented Midoriya from ever getting close to him in the first place, but the ice would've at least slowed his launch from the ring, whereas his explosion would've absolutely knocked Midoriya out with no way for him to stop himself. I feel like in any situation, Todoroki would've won because he's just better equipped in every way.
Here before it blows up. Currently at 4k views... REMEMBER MEE

Out of ALL of your reactions, this is the best lol
What they said about Endeavor being a hero, ties in perfectly w the next arc
Holy shit I fucking died with that pause lmao
drops the remote*
OH No!
everybody else: The world is fuckin ending bro!?!?!?
Elsa had a mental breakdown, she was talking about leaving the household as she coudnt handle Endeavor and the other kids anymore, and Shoto her favorite reminded her too much of Endeavor due to his left side. When Shoto peeked through the door (with only his left side visible) she panicked thinking it was Endeavor about to beat her for thinking of leaving, so she defended herself prematurely by tossing the boiling water.
I will say Todoroki is pretty OP
Mirio is much more powerful, todoroki isn't powerful if he keeps relying on his quirk. Hell even his father uses his fire quirk to climb walls and melt literal metal to his advantage.. At this point deku is the most over powered character, in the manga he tapped into another quirk that was passed down from one for all.. So spite having the super strengh he now has these blackish tentacles that can protect him.
QsM__ redpanda Woah Woah Woah hold up! You can’t go spoiling stuff in the comments what’s wrong with you???!?

QsM__ redpanda you do realize mirio has more training. 3rd year deku, bakugo, and shoto will look more impressive. Same with tokoyami.
The best part about this show is that every character plays a role in the story at some point or another.
Except invisible Girl and Sugar guy ^^ Those 2 are still useless even tho we reached the equivalent of season 5 in the manga lol
Great reaction but there is way too much audio peaking. The audio needs better balancing - or at least a headphone warning.
