@@Evadann Each fight is emotional sure but for different reasons, I think a lot of people resonate especially with deku vs todoroki because of the message it carries to move past your trauma and forgive yourself for your powerlessness, to embrace your potential and move forward. I don't think he was downplaying it, he is just being honest for himself about what moved him the most.
@@Evadann No one is downplaying anything. I love this series. Everything you listed are incredible fights. Todoroki for the first time in his life was told he can do something for himself and it's ok. Midoriya saved somebody without using his fists. He couldn't know it at the time, but like Nana Shimura said, if you have to save someone, you're not just saving them, you're saving their heart too. For a kid born with everything and still have nothing, he finally realized how much he had in a friend he never expected. That's not to downplay any fight that precedes this one, all of our thoughts on this beautiful series is subjective.
I watched it up to this thinking I'm enjoying the show and find it funny and charming but then this happened and the drama kicked in and everything we love about anime comes together in this episode, we all witnessed something incredible and were strapped in.
This episode never ceases to make me feel some type of way. The way Shotos mom said "You are not a prisoner of your lineage." Is so powerful, especially Deku's "It's yours! Your quirk, not his!" is so impactful.
he was going for the win but also wanted todoroki to fight with all his power and wanted to save him from endeavors hold so he used the fight as an opportunity. i just wanted deku to yell shut up at endeavor when he was yelling that shoto used his fire lol

It's always so interesting to see reaction from the people who don't know any spoilers and how the show'll go. I try not to spoil anything, but yeah, Endeavour character development gonna be crazy (one of the best I've ever seen honestly). And I'm always curious how people will react to Todorokis part of the plot because I love it so much. Their situation is very complicated and has so many aspects. (It doesn't excuse Enji's action as well). Also dub makes some lines sound ruder than it was in the original, probably due to the translator. MHA dub is not that bad, but the meaning may feel different some time. I understand why you watch in dubbed version though

Its not that Deku knew he was gonna loose, he wanted to win knowing full well how far he could push his current skills, but it was mostly to open up a new path for Todoroki, like All Might said, to save him from the path he was traversing, that, combined with bits and pieces of Todorokl's past gave us one of the best MHA fights overall
Deku and Bakugo both only want to win knowing that their opponent was at their best. That way there can’t be doubts as to whether or not they’d win if both sides went all out.

Todoroki is absolutely OP, but he really starts coming out of his shell little by little after this. He's a sweetheart through and through, he's my second fav character.
So during the match you mentioned Deku wasn't hitting him with full power punches. He is doing that on purpose through concentration not because he's tired, although that could be part of it. The main reason he's holding back is he is afraid he will hurt/kill someone with a full force smash, not to mention damage himself. Bro was trying to win, trying to save/motivate Todoroki, and trying not to hurt anyone while doing all that. Deku really out here being a hero!
I remember this episode. This is where animation levelled up across the entire industry of anime. You see how everything turned into blocks at the moment of impact? (when Cemetoss put up the barriers that got obliterated), making it feel more forceful and powerful. That was NOT a thing before MHA (iirc), the animators set a standard in this episode.
Nah it was already a thing, pretty sure it was a stylistic trend by the same animator in FMAB too. MHA just got it to be known more, since I don't think it was used in a popular worldwide new anime ever since FMAB.

As crazy as it is how that fight ended, I am of the opinion Deku would’ve won in the collision. Deku used 3 limbs of OFA at once, face planted through 3 walls of concrete and flew backwards more than a full football field backwards. Which is what. 10 stories standing up? If he can do that, I think he could take the fire/ice explosion combo which made a similar impact on his side of the field. Todoroki DEFINITELY wouldn’t be able to take 3 limbs of OFA though. He’s not built to handle the full force of what consistently tore through his maximum ice power.

I like to think Deku lost due to Midnight's sleeping gas quirk and bounced back from the shockwave that was created.
Endeavor and Bakugo have the best character arcs in the show. It takes awhile, but their arcs are so well done
