Phantom Paper Jam - Fix Epson Printer Paper Loaded Halfway then Fake Jam

- How to solve a fake paper jam for the Epson printer: The printer will feed a half-page of paper and then complain about a paper feed problem. We checked the remaining paper, and paper eject sensor (PE Sensor). Eventually, we found the problem is interference from the fax module. We cleaned the fax queue and thus fixed the problem. The same problem may exist in Epson l120, I3110, I220, and other WorkForce printers.

THANK YOU! The little pesky lever in the back was stuck up. LOL. Once I gently pulled it down, I finally saw the home screen again. Yeah. I have been fighting with this for 2 days.

THANK YOU for posting. Turns out mine was caused by the clear plastic strip (runs along the belt) had come detached on the right side from the notch. Reattached and everything works well!

Thank you. Finally!!!!!! I found a small round label blocking the center PE sensor (even though the user said she could account for all labels and none were missing). The label was white and looked like a part (very small). So I grabbed a small screw driver (like in your video 2:04). I was this close to throwing this printer out the window!!!!

For some reason this only happens when I use cardstock. It has worked perfectly in the past with the same cardstock, but now it's doing the half in fake paper jam. Other papers still work fine. I have an ET-15000.
wow, the little lever was flicked up on my printer, exposing the sensor and creating the issue! I disassembled it for nothing haha! Thank you so much!!
Thanks have an epson ET 3600 and paper jam message kept on coming , tried everything but i opened the top then switched it on and it worked ! not really sure whether staring at it angrily made it work !

Thanks again Kevin. I'm keeping my xp-520 functioning by using your tips each time something new goes wrong. This time you mentioned the plastic strip at the back and I checked and ink had splashed on there. not a lot but when I carefully wiped it away the paper did not jam anymore.
I spoke too soon. I did one test print and it was fine. Then I copied a page but it only printed a centre strip about 1 12" wide. I tried again to make a copy and the paper jammed in the back as before. The xp-520 doesn't look like the one you are working on, can you show me or tell me where the PE sensor is?
I just replaced the inky plastic strip GMNA030 1611329-00 with the same strip from my previous XP-520 BUT now it slams into the right side! And I watched more of your videos and looked more closely, the encoding strip was twisted on the left side of the carriage but not the right. I was able to move it and it clicked into place. Now the printer prints from the test page from the PC controls and prints from my phone BUT will not print copy of anything on the scanner!!!!!! Paper Jam message!!!!

Thank you Kevin great video. I am having a paper jam error only when printing on both sides. One side prints satisfactorily but when printing the other side paper liads half way and stops and gives paper jam. Please help

Hi Kevin, I have WF7710. I had a paper jam at rear. I unscrewed the paper stopper assembly and got the last bit of ripped paper out. Unfortunately the compression springs fell out in my hand and I think I lost one.. I could hear a rattle inside. Do I need to get replacement part or just springs please.

I am having same problem and have seen it fail some 20x's repetitively when printing. I did find that Copy works without an issue (or at least the one time I tried). I will continue using your guide and let you know the results. I'm just printing one side using paper tray.
Not sure why but when I went to test his scenario, my printer just started working again. I had an old document in the cue that failed to print due to paper jam but this morning it worked and it's continuing to work. Want to test Kevin's method but didn't need to. Hello Kevin, almost the same problem with WF-7211 single function printer, you have had cleared the system print que (thru facsimile) within the printer itself, what can I do, my printer print on both trays 1 and 2 but not on the rear paper feeder. I tried all possible solution but nothing works hope you have another idea that will work.
I hear a clicking noise when printing from tray 2 on my wf7720 but other trays prints just fine with no noise. The error message says "no paper in cassette 2" but it clearly is. I pull out tray and see the paper is jammed but it doesn't give me an error message that says "paper jam". How I fix that? It seems like a false reading telling me it's out of paper but it's actually a paper jam issue.

i have wf3540 and have checked rollers and the black lever all seem ok cleaned the plastic strip and still the same , only does it on two sided printing andthere is no jam if i push he stop button it ejects the paper no jams driveing me mad
It also appear that the spring needs to be pushed back into the correct position on it.

Hi Kevin I have a wf-3640 and it shows a false paper jam when printing over WiFi from any device but if I print from a sd card on the printer it prints just fine
Dear Sir Thank you for your video, my Epson Xp-750 I can copy color and BW no problem but when I print from My computer MacBook, or my smartphone paper Jam.
I have the epson wf 7620 I had this troubled problem I found the main problems to the ink cover and a fake paper jam. There's a white clip at the bottom right corner that clips on to the ink head this sometimes gets jammed and stops the print head moving from its usual boot up moves left to right etc.etc I had to force the main print head to the right this is the default position of the main print head . How ever this clip also goes up and and down which approx 2 inch guides to the left but it doesn't always go down when it's supposed to do so to release the head to print this is the main culprit to print failure

I have an Epson wf7720 that will load the paper all the way, pops, then gives paper jam error message. No paper clogged anywhere. No broken parts that I see.

i have same issue paper that is stops right there exactly but keeps saying rear nothing in there it will print reports and everything but always says paper jam paper comes out nothing else will print.
Hi Kevin. Thanks for the very helpful videos. I have a WF-3620 which prints single sided without a problem but fails every time to print double sided. The first side prints fine, and goes back into the duplexor. On the way out it jams in the rollers. Is there any way to fix this?

@@markcrickett7455 No. Someone I asked to look at it concluded it was probably a motherboard fault. I sold the printer with the disclosed fault.

I have an Epson 9890. I use the large 700ml cartridges. I have a never used Light Black but the printer won't read the chip. I get a Red X. I have other cartridges. Is there any way to reprogram, or buy replacement chips for these? Thanks. I'm a long time Epson use since the first Epson Photo.
Have you checked the chip contact points, and make sure the ECB board pins are good?

hello Kevin, my Epson WF7710 pulls regular copy paper fine, but when it comes to card stock or (1) sided photo paper it'll get jam. Opening the back it's ALWAY bent on the RIGHT (looking into the back of the printer). i have photos - please HELP!!! wasted 20+ photo paper. Also i've printed many of these same prints and it starting to jam !!!

Hi Kevin, great videos. I have an Epson Workforce 4630 and it's showing a paper jam message. I have looked and there is no paper jam. My trouble is that I can't clear the error message and get back to the home screen. Any tips on factory reset or perhaps just to get my home screen back? Thanks.
Same model, same problem. I held down the grey and white piece under the adf cover and it got passed the phantom jam error. Hope it helps🤞🏾✌🏾

Kevin, thank you so much! I have a jam i have not seen, but it happened a year ago and was solved, but now i can't figure it out. Calls to epson did not help (You need replace/repair). My jam happens ONLY when i'm trying to do duplex (2-sided) printing. It used to be fine. But now, it prints first side, takes the paper back in, and gives Jam error. Opening top shows the paper showing about 1-2inches. I pull it out, and it tries again, and same. Any ideas? Someone I found said changing out the maintenance box fixed his. I've not tried this. Any ideas? Thank you!

I have the same problem with Epson WF-2750. I can print to standard quality without any problems but not high quality, which makes phantom paper jam. I have tried to disable the printing port's bidirectional support but no help.
I also tried to change printer driver to "Epson Universal printer driver" but no difference it prints standard prints fine but high quality print stucks the printer.
Really exellent software engineering by epson there. Its almost like they want the printers to malfunction

Kevin wd 3640 paper jammed .i removed the paper causing the issue but still saids paper jam. I checked everywere for paper but nothing. I do notice that the ink carriage do not move at all when turning primter on.i do hear a roller move when i turn it on then the error comes on. It did do a strange noise when the paper got jam. I am taking it apart how do i make sure i put everything 0 or in sync..thanks
I have a epson 7720and its only loading the page half way then error 000071 shows on the screen and says turn off then back on if problem persist contact epson . Do you know what that code means ive searched and searched and cant find it. Ive checked the gears, timing belt is clean, theres no debree, it will print if i manually feed through rear feeder but wont auto feed from the trays. Any help would be appreciated

I have found this only happens when I print from one device, all my other divices print ok. all my devices are wireless.
please help I just inherited my dad's house and inside he has a Mac computer with an older I think because it's still in the box and he lived here for 11 years but anyway it's an Epson XP 410 and it had the original ink cartridges to put in I know how to do this so I did it and whenever I try to run the printer the printer seems to work perfectly except that the paper comes through and seems to veer left and get caught in the wheels so I don't know what the problem is I don't see any dust inside I can't imagine what the problem could be unless I've somehow installed the somehow my dog's getting sick okay so unless I've somehow installed the ink wrong or there's something going terribly wrong with my printer itself please help

Yes, i have same problem. Maybe its a memory or power problem that happen just before printing and trigger paper jam.
Same here, shows fake paper jam error when set to hight quality, doesn't happen when set to standard quality
Still cannot print on mine. Everything is clear, its a brand new printer and there are no fax reports. Great.

Man, this is the 3rd Epson printer I've had, and I have to say - they've all had stupid issues. When they actually PRINT, the quality is great. But Epson printers are just too finicky. Do yourself a favor. Don't buy Epson, don't buy HP, don't buy Canon.. Buy a BROTHER printer....
