1:22 i had a joke before about this strange inclusion, but now im sure it must actually be a meta joke of Shrek leaving the game and falling inside of the Gamecube, into reality. he cant really escape, suddenly you cant pause and any cheats that were on no longer work? sounds like reality to me!
The purple lunchbox has been around for 20 years, and there's still a lot to uncover.
I'm glad they mentioned E. Gadd's localized Spanish names, one for Latin America, and one for Spain, this is important, since Mario games are (and are still) localized with two different Spanish audiences for two different regions.

For the curious the French European one is Professor Karl Tastroff and is most of the time abridged to K.Tastroff, which is a pun on catastrophe (because in French it's pronounced the same).

Just a random thought: I'm guessing the Gamecube room in Shrek is just a fun "anti-cheat" so to speak, implying you've cheated so much, you've gone outside of the game into the real world where cheats and game logic no longer work, and since you're stuck in a gamecube, you can no longer escape. Not as a "this is why you shouldn't cheat" and more "remember to take the right left at Albuquerque." I'm probably just thinking too much into it, but that's what I'd like to imagine.
That's a good theory, but I personally think the developers suck Shrek + the camera out of the game and they're actually inside of the cheater's GC. Only issue is I don't have a GameCube so I can't test this

more like it was in the software development kit as an example of how to make a room up, with something like 0 for its id, which if the developer don't overwrite or if they start at 1 because lists typically start at 1 not 0, except when you are programming something, which they didn't know beforehand, then whenever the player does something that necessitates a load but the load is undefined as it was unexpected so it defaults to 0 instead of NaN (not a number).
It makes me so happy to see Wario World get some love and attention. Super underrated game, everybody always praises the other Wario games but no one seems to ever even mention World, which is a shame! I've been really hoping for it to be, if not ported, straight rebooted on Switch with more games coming for the series

That Shrek GameCube "easter egg" is the weirdest thing I've ever seen 🤣🤣. Why the hell do you land in the insides of a GameCube when you fall out of the bounds of a level? And who even had so much time on their hands to model such a detailed GameCube when its the result of a glitch lmao.

My guess is that the Gamecube model was originally for a showcase of some sort and was for whatever reason within this game's data.
If it was the original base that they started with when making the game, it's possible the game didn't know what to do and sent the player to the first location it could find in its memory.
I think it's that shrek fell out of the disc and into the internals as the game would be in your disc tray at the time.
I guess maybe someone had extra time to model it or something?
Though I think the reason why you go there is cause it's a failsafe made by the devs. If the game doesn't know what to do, it'll load the area in and trap you there to force a reset. Something similar happens in Sonic 3D Blast where it loads a level select screen when it doesn't know what to load anymore.
I’m not a pro or anything, but it’s probably not all that difficult to model a GameCube. It’s not like it’s rigged anything. It’s just a bunch of geometric shapes.
I hope they re-release Chibi-Robo someday. I loved that game.
They almost did, in the Wii New Play series. For some reason, it was the only one to not get a North America release.

Shrek on the Xbox has its own version of the Gamecube easter egg.
If you get out of bounds in that version, you're dropped into an inescapable dungeon room full of chickens. All cheats and the pause button will be disabled just like the Gamecube version.

@DYKG a couple of trivias you forgot to mention in the prototype version of Sonic Mega Collection, first one is that the Sonic OVA Episodes 1&2 were planned to be included, and the version of Sonic Spinball that was used is the Beta version which used the license Dreams Come True intro music, I have the prototype version btw if you’re interested.
You know it's going to be good when the video starts with a Shrek game.

Last week I found a pawn store that would not buy GameCubes or GameCube games, they said there was no market for them and that no one wanted them, oh how wrong they are.
The first movie that pops into my head when asked best movie is Rush Hour 2. If I think about it more I'll come up with more choices but Rush Hour 2 has a special place in my heart and is honestly a really well rounded fun movie.
Still got mine. One of the most robust systems ever made. Interestingly when Sony ported over Resident Evil to the GameCube, they were startled to find the graphics upgraded somehow and weren't quite sure how. This was in an article in Playstation magazine.
Still have mine, but it started having trouble reading disc Q_Q
Lasted longer than my Wii did at least.

@@El_Chuchuca I've tried that and it doesn't seem to help. That would make sense of what probably caused the problem though as I live in a very dusty attic.

That Shrek Xbox (and later GameCube) game has very poor grasp of it's source material. For examples: None of the actors returned to voice their characters, it has a different story and Lord Farquaard (you know, the main villian of the original movie) is only in the "ENTER NAME" screen and he's replaced with a generic villian named Merlin (Not the Merlin from Shrek The Third)
The game was rushed, for one.
Best movie ever made was Lion King. (Original, not the travesty of CGI)

@@greenhowie Artistic license means they probably weren't siblings. Scar was still welcome in the Pride before he turned traitor, Hera wasn't Hercules's (or Heracles's) mother in the original myths, "Pocahontas" has historical inaccuracies up the wazoo, and many Disney adaptations had their endings rewritten to be less...let's say, depressing.
Even if they were intended as such, that's just being realistic to nature.
My GCN was the single most durable main system I had. I took it to my Memaw's home twice a year since I got it, only packing games & cords, using the handle and nothing bad happened. I took my Wii to my friend's house twice (tucked safely in it's carrying case) & the damn thing got clogged up & had to be sent to CA for repairs TWICE! Both times cost more than $100 to repair! 👿

That laugh seems more likely to have been used for a Poe from The Legend of Zelda, even if it is identical to a Boo from Mario. Probably cut because there was nothing Poe related in Termina Bay. At least that I can remember.
Either way you shouldn't suspect it to come from Tingle just because the file name shares a few letters with his name. I personally have no clue as to what "TKLE" could mean or be though, but I wouldn't think it means Tingle at all.
Maybe captain keeta would have shown up on the map, and it stands for Termina Keeta Laugh Enter
I think the laugh is Skull Kid. It's a Majoras Mask level and he is the antagonist

Best movie ever made? For me, Napoleon Dynamite. The distinct humor in that movie is something I've never seen replicated, I could watch that movie over and over again.
*Unpopular Opinion:* GC's first party offerings left a lot to be desired. It was very well-rounded, but lacked the GENERATIONAL type games that were the DEFINITIVE games of an entire generation that Nintendo usually has.
They had some games that are highlights of their series like Metroid Prime, Paper Mario: TTYD & F-Zero GX, but those didn't universally define the generation.
N64 had less first & third party games, but games like Super Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, Goldeneye, etc. were definitely generational games, along with Final Fantasy VII, Metal Gear Solid, Crash Bandicoot, etc.
And when it came to new IP's, the GC got some good 1st/2nd party ones like Luigi's Mansion, Pikmin, Battalion Wars and a personal favorite - Eternal Darkness, but the N64 created Super Smash Bros, Animal Crossing, Mario Party, Paper Mario, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Banjo, etc.
I'd still go back to GC far more often than N64, and the games have aged better due to not being first gen 3D titles. But when it comes to what their libraries did for the time, the GC played it too safe & didn't offer many unique experiences for the time.
How is Metroid Prime not a generation defininf game
People have some weird concepts of what makes something generational. You seem to expect both originality and popularity, while quoting 3 Mario games(an already well established name in Nintendo, so not original), a mashup of every major IP in Nintendo, and a game literally based on a movie(which, though an outlier in this case, are categorically some of the worst games ever).
Idk man it just feels elitist and condescending.

Oh man, I remember getting the Japanese Sonic Gems collection, specifically because the English version didn't include so much stuff, I still have it, along with a copy of Zoids: Full Metal Crash, A pretty fun Zoids Fighting game exclusive to Japan. the only 2 Japanese GC games i own XD

Wonderful memories with the 'Cube with games like Luigi's Mansion, Pikmin 1 and 2, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Mario Sunshine, Zelda: The Wind Waker, Pokemon Colosseum, Wario World, Mario Power Tennis, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, Star Fox Assault and Chibi-Robo. Good times!

Still so much to learn after all these years. I’d imagine they dropped Nintendo All-Stars because the titles would be too long, or to bring it more in line with the international releases.
This is probably the real answer, but I choose to believe it's because they included Ice Climbers. :) "All-Stars" didn't fit anymore.

@@jr2904 Nah, the SNES takes it for me, easy. And if we're counting handhelds, the original Game Boy was definitely a juggernaut. And the NES essentially saved the western gaming market all on its own. The GameCube had some amazing games, sure, but not to the same extent as some of the others. It is better than the N64, at least.
