In all fairness to this campground's owners, I camped here in May of 2022 while attending the Overland Expo, and was very satisfied with my stay. No major complaints whatsoever. I came here with no preconceived notions as I did not vet its reviews beforehand. I'm glad I didn't, as it could have tainted my impressions and expectations. I totally agree with your assessment. I used to live in Flagstaff and have stayed at this KOA a few times, always in the primitive tent section. It is windy by Flagstaff standards. I suspect that that part of the campground funnels the wind in a strange way because I noticed other parts of the campground weren't as bad.
My boss picked on me once for camping in my backyard… I had to remind him my backyard was 130 acres… For some reason your question reminded me of that 👍
The developers encroached on the KOA, not the other way around. Twenty years ago, none of these houses were there. The question should be, Why would anyone build a home behind and next to a KOA campground? Also, the grounds around the campground used to be level. It appears they never leveled the dirt that builders pushed over onto the campground while building those homes.
It's so hot in Phoenix that just to go up north in cooler weather is sometimes all you need. You can be outside up there in June July and Aug when you can't in phx.

HAHAHA first rule on the bouncer is NO SHOES. We had to laugh at your highway comments - for us the term KOA translates to Highway or Rail Road nearby and if the latter, then definitely a midnight train horn. Nice honest assessment.

lol. My husband and our kids were full-time RVers and worked at this KOA for a year. You went here after we left there and it is under new management. It was very un level. In all fairness, it is built at the base of a mountain and open all year. When it snows, we had to plow off the roads and it made the sites un level😂. I did a camp trip to Yosemite in 94. My wife and 3 year old were in the tent. I’m at the picnic table reading with my Coleman gas lantern. My daughter flies outta the tent. 100mph. I love KOAs. It's funny to remember that when I was a kid (70 years ago) my parents, who grew up very poor in the Great Depression, wouldn't consider staying in a KOA because they were too expensive. But when I finally got to a point in my adult life where I could afford them, they became my favorite places to stay. I’ve been staying at this KOA since the 70s! We have never had a bad experience, and the office people have always been friendly, helpful and attentive. The only problem we have ever had was the old playground with the jungle gym of death, the treehouse of death, and the swing set of death. It has since been replaced with a bounce structure that is covered with laughing kids from open to close. I have the feeling the people who complain would still bitch at a luxury RV park. Prices are in line with the area and slightly higher on weekends. We were there literally a week ago and as always the personnel was helpful, accommodating and extremely friendly. The park was packed with people from around the world and everyone I spoke to was enjoying themselves. We recommended several local spots to neighbors who ended up having a great time. We literally took a neighbor with us to the Lava Tube and he enjoyed it immensely. I highly recommend Flagstaff KOA.
If you have stayed please leave a review! I like to leave detailed, honest reviews anywhere we eat or stay as it helps others! Don’t let the fake reviews ruin a business!
The price of KOA now is ridiculous. $48 bucks, so basically $50 bucks. I remember back in the day when many KOA's were $20-$25 bucks for a tent sight with electric. No WiFi though....it hadnt been invented yet!!!😂🤣😅😆🤣😅
It looked nice to me. At age 70 the man could get a card from the Federal Park System/National Parks where camping is half price during the week. He could have gone there. They are a whole lot darker and creepier.
We’ve stayed at this KOA many times for roughly a week at a time. We didn’t experience any issues and were aware it is close to a housing development. Our grandchildren love the jumping pillow and the train they run around the campground pulled by a golf cart. It’s convenient, it has full hookups and I’ve always felt safe there.
Last fall I spent a night at this KOA. The truth is I enjoyed it. They also filled one of my propane tanks and hooked it up for me. My dog enjoy the dog park too.
Most places are not as bad as most people think. We stayed at a campground that my biggest complaint was no campfires after 10:00 p.m. . Well in the summer it is not dark until after 9:00 so we could not have any campfires. I would not go to that site ever again just because of that but everything else was really great.
well at least there were no complaints about house parties going on until the early morning from the row of houses behind the campground. seemed alright, but lets be real can almost get a cheap motel for 48 bucks. good for an rv I suppose (except the unlevel bit) but otherwise naw.
@@michaelbowers5675 Good luck finding a motel room for $48 in Flagstaff. Last time I stayed there, the cheapest place I found was $140 a night--and it was basically a dump
A KOA in Montana (where KOA started btw!) got a bad review a few years ago for “allowing bears on the property.” 😂😂😂 that’s why they tell you to bear-proof your site. No one was injured, I’m not even sure there was property damage, just people mad that the KOA refuses to really get tough with wild bears! (FYI, you cannot prevent bears from wandering in bear country. The bears can climb fences and everything)
You have to go to these overpriced campgrounds because Flagstaff has closed all free camping within 10 miles of the city. Go to williams or down to Sedona.
we camped there for a completely full weekend this summer. were terribly happy with everything we experienced, including the very clean bathrooms and showers. Not sure where all the 1 stars are coming from.
😂😂😂 You crack me up! The banana bike was the best! You didn’t take your shoes off on the bouncy pillow - FOR SHAME. 😆 Darn no creepy guys at the bathroom either. Shower was a bit icky though. 🤢Subscribed! ❤
Yes please keep them coming. Your comments are hilarious. And please have Kelly join a few. I think both of you together on these would be awesome cause she is just as funny!
We just returned from staying there. We had a really good stay. Our only complaint is that our RV site was not very level and we had a hard time leveling our 5th wheel. This was also an issue with a number of other rigs that we saw. However, even with that, I would certainly return and recommend.
stayed here with my family when I was a kid several times. So a long time ago. I do remember hiking up the mountain behind there, that was good. I also remember several non-campers roaming through there asking for money and just hanging around. I wouldnt leave anything valuable around, its too close to town.
My wife and I stayed there on our way to Moab. It was fine. A bit too expensive, our site was decently level. Nothing special it was just a stop off for one night on the way up. Full disclosure, we would always rather disperse camp. Fun video. Great job!
Stayed at this campground once a few years ago. My only complaint about it is that the campground is more suburban than I would have liked. Perhaps when it was built it was considered away from the city, but now its adjacent to a busy highway, a couple of housing areas, and a number of retail establishments. On one hand you don't have to walk far for snacks and soda, but on the other... I guess when I go camping, I prefer to be further from the sprawl than this campground is. Plenty of trails and nature behind the campground though, so its not completely urbanized. As far as the staff and cleanliness was concerned, the facility itself was pretty clean and appeared well-maintained. Staff was friendly and nice. Overall a decent campground, just not a great location if you're looking for nature.
The rock on the tent was probably somebody trying to keep the tent from blowing away in the wind, the wind probably doing the damage. The guy with the knives in the cup at the bathroom was probably just washing his silverware and waiting for his old lady to come out.
I was there 6 nights May 9th thru the 14th Yes Park could use some help Staff was so great it made up for the few problems! I generally like KOA's. I have camped at several. As an older female that many time travels alone I like the option of their camping cabins. Years ago camped at the Flagstaff one and it didn't have as many amenities but I felt safe there.
We've stayed at that KOA ONE time. It is a one star campground in large part to the weirdos that camp there. Some of them LONG TERM. You are stacked right on top of each other as well and people have their dogs running wild.
We stayed there in an RV last spring. Didn't need to use the showers, it was fine other than the landscaping being a little rough. Certainly not a 1 star experience.
I would expect to see men carrying sheathed knives in a camp ground, that's normal. Knives are camping tools. Some dude went with his wife, to the bathroom & is waiting out side with a cup of coffee & he's deranged. In AZ, in campgrounds expect men to open carry pistols also. Those bikes are for kids. Any adult with common sense would not ride that bike. I would give that camp ground a 1 star rating. 48 bucks to look at someones back yard.
We RTT from Seattle to Virginia and stayed roughly at 20 or so Koa’s. We liked that we could book day of reservations, had laundry, some had free breakfast, dog friendly and things for kids. We only drove away from 1 which I think was is SD because the grouchy old man said it was law that we backed in… which we didn’t want to do because of an awning. ( he was super rude about it). Although I would rather camp with no one around, koas are extremely conveniently located.
We've stayed there a couple of times and have had no issues. It is definitely not a destination camping location...but it serves well as a spot to dip into for the night as you make your way across the Southwest on I-40.
I’ve stayed at that KOA several times. The spots can be uneven, but hey…it’s at the base of a mountain people! It’s actually great if you have kids and you want to camp with the family or large group. It’s very clean every time and the staff is always kind. Beware of Karen reviews always.
Did it have the little trailer where you could buy breakfast? If so I've overnighted at that KOA and would give it the same review as you. Thanks for sharing.
You can't always judge a place by the comments people leave. Some people, like my wife, are never satisfied or happy with their experiences due to unreasonable expectations and/or because, let's face it, some people are just plain ole curmudgeons.
I find that there is a certain generation who needs things catered and curated. I once read a review on driving the Alaskan highway that said, "Beautiful drive, mountains, trees, rivers, it was gorgeous. One star because we didn't see any bears." p.s. knife wielding man was more than likely a guy washing dishes and keeping the silverware in a cup. Gotta love those millennial reviews.
Used to work security and grounds keeping here up until a couple years ago. Great place and people just poorly managed up until about a year ago when the owners booted out the old GM. The new GM seems to be improving things for sure.
Just curious… Why do you show so much content using reverse images? All the text on t-shirts is backwards, your steering wheel is on the wrong side etc…
I died when I seen the ‘banana bikes’. I’ve not heard that term before and was picturing maybe a regular bike with a banana seat? “Last time an adult rode one of those it broke” That wording leads me to believe they are mostly for kids to begin with. Not only that, but they are barely above the ground. “My dad was on the ground!!” as if he fell from a bicycle? 😂 Lady, your dad was ALREADY on the ground to begin with. He fell about three inches!
A KOA in Flag? Why?? Been camping on Flagstaff's west side off HWY 180 for years! Am I gonna quad in town or in a campground? Am I gonna see bear, elk n deer in town? 1/2 mile west of Belmont is forest Rt 171, go to the Lave River Cave 5 miles north on 171. Dont need no stinking K O A!
I really enjoyed your video. I love doing "investigative reporting " like this!!! I love proving people wrong. For example, the 70 year old man took money out of his wallet to pay for that, broke it, and blamed it on the "bike"? Not level-- loved it with the "two rocks." By the way, I'm a Senior, too.
Good grief, I’m at the beginning & that campground already looks awful, at least your spot does. Brick wall and a house right behind you? Ugh. 😮😮😮 you gave that place five stars?
I live in this collage town. The KOA has changed hands at least 3 times in my 24 years of life (Probably more in my mom's lifetime) most of the reviews are for previous owners. They didn't used to have a Jump Pillow or a park at the entrance. The laundry facilities are a bit expensive but you're paying for convenience. They have 100% put money back into the place. The problem is a lot of people living under the poverty line used to live there and rent their spot. For decades. The new owners are hiking up prices and running those people out of there in an attempt to get rich retired glampers with 5th wheels to come in. But our KOA isn't good enough for rich people to stay at when Williams AZ has a KOA with cabins, teepees, a cart race track, banana bike rentals, and so so much more. Williams is like 45 minutes from Flag so at the end of the day if you're going glamping.. Just drive a bit farther and go to Williams.
This campground being given even 1 star is 1 star too much. Overpopulated, with a busy street out front it's more like a residential mobile home park except with campers and RVs. It's obvious Miss Altitude in the front office thinks she's too busy to care about the moldy, hairy showers, yuck👎! And at $48 a pop is $40 too much to stay even one night at a campground that looks more ground than anything else.
My husband and I use KOA all the time. Sites are rarely 100% level no matter where you are. Those bikes are for kids. They shouldn’t be renting them for adults to ride. Creepy knife wielding man was probably a camper and so was the one who threw a rock at the tent. I personally don’t blame the company for when other campers are jerks. We never expect to have good WiFi because it’s rarely great. My husband and I use a hotspot.
My wife and I have stayed many times at this KOA. In our experiences, the staff was very nice and helpful. Uneven campsites, yes, to some extent. But our 25 foot Class C motorhome didn't have any problems with the levelers. I can say that I have stayed at state and county parks in Arizona and the slope was absolutely unreal. But anytime a person is in the mountains, you can expect some type of slope (generally). The whole thing about showers and security is a bigger deal in the generations since this campground (and other campgrounds) was established. Most women do not want a shower room in which preditors can enter through a common door. Newer campgrounds have single shower rooms with a secure door. But the hookups were great. I have gone to campgrounds where the 30amp outlet doesn't work. I have had ones where my surge protector said "no way". I have found one campground where the sewer line overflowed. Nothing like this was at this campground. My kids are adults and live out of the area, so I cannot comment on the amenities for children. I cannot comment on the bicycle accident either. But from what I would rate this campground is five stars for the staff and four stars for the campsites and amenities.
First of your videos I've seen. I enjoy your delivery. Gotcherself a new subscriber. I am often left scratching my head when people leave their comfortable home to go camping and get back to Nature. Only to complain about terrain and other characteristics of Nature. Amenities are also a bit odd. Why complain about the lack thereof? As you clearly stated, there are woods and a trail. Granted, though, if you provide an amenity, it should not fall apart. I think a whole lot of people should have a better understanding of what camping is.
This KOA's 3 miles from my house, I drive past it almost daily. There's a bunch of great campgrounds around the Flagstaff area, don't stay at one in town.
05:42 - They _did_ openly warn / advise him that "The last time an adult rode one of those, it broke" regarding the "Banana Bikes" (actually quadricycles).

The park was packed with people from around the world and everyone I spoke to was enjoying themselves. We recommended several local spots to neighbors who ended up having a great time. We literally took a neighbor with us to the Lava Tube and he enjoyed it immensely. I highly recommend Flagstaff KOA.
$48 is crazy for "camping" next to a house😂
Free stuff from the gov'ment is COMMUNISM!
Yeah there’s quite a few cool things and the people were great when I was there
Great review. I'm looking forward to more KOA reviews.
Thanks for watching
I've hiked that trail. Pretty epic and there are Geocaches everywhere!!
Most places are not as bad as most people think. We stayed at a campground that my biggest complaint was no campfires after 10:00 p.m. . Well in the summer it is not dark until after 9:00 so we could not have any campfires. I would not go to that site ever again just because of that but everything else was really great.
$48 a night with houses right behind you? Doesn't really seem like real camping. Great review though!
Yeah exactly. Its insane
well at least there were no complaints about house parties going on until the early morning from the row of houses behind the campground.
seemed alright, but lets be real can almost get a cheap motel for 48 bucks. good for an rv I suppose (except the unlevel bit) but otherwise naw.
It's a KOA! They're the overnight motel of the camping world. Nobody goes to one to actually camp.
@@michaelbowers5675 Good luck finding a motel room for $48 in Flagstaff. Last time I stayed there, the cheapest place I found was $140 a night--and it was basically a dump
When has ever spending a night at a KOA been real camping?
Men of working age are always treated better then the elderly or a women by herself. Its very very obvious in many places.
Wow 😂. Lets vote to ban bears from KOAs from now on! 😏
I didn’t read the rules. Shame on me I know 😂
Thanks for watching and subscribing
Yes please keep them coming. Your comments are hilarious. And please have Kelly join a few. I think both of you together on these would be awesome cause she is just as funny!
You got it.
Clark, let's just stay here it's got a pool and everything
😂❤
My wife and I stayed there on our way to Moab. It was fine. A bit too expensive, our site was decently level. Nothing special it was just a stop off for one night on the way up. Full disclosure, we would always rather disperse camp. Fun video. Great job!
Stayed at this campground several times. Always had a nice stay. I think some people expect a Waldof Astoria experience at a KOA.
I think so too 😂
7:54 😂🤣🤣 If you brought a knife 🔪 to the bathroom, someone would probably post another 1 ⭐️ review about it 🤣👍
True lol
People over exaggerat..I had no problems with koa...there just like any other campgrounds maybe even better then some....
Really, weeds and ground not being level? You guys don’t know what camping is 😂
And there were trees 🌲 everywhere & bugs !!! Lol
@@davestevens4263 lol!

So we stayed at the Flagstaff KOA AND the Williams KOA when we went through and the kids enjoyed them both. Didn't realize it was so poorly reviewed.
I feel like some ppl leave reviews to show off their artistic vocabulary and grammar 😂
I was there 6 nights May 9th thru the 14th Yes Park could use some help Staff was so great it made up for the few problems! Level sites are a bit of a problem. we hand no issues all the campers were friendly and price was not bad 5/9/2024 - 5/10/2024 $59.00 / Night 1 $59.00

This was for Full hook up
I generally like KOA's. I have camped at several. As an older female that many time travels alone I like the option of their camping cabins. Years ago camped at the Flagstaff one and it didn't have as many amenities but I felt safe there.
OK, this was a fun video. I really enjoyed your approach and would love to see more like it! Subbed!
Thank you so much. I’ll have some more coming out soon
We've stayed at that KOA ONE time. It is a one star campground in large part to the weirdos that camp there. Some of them LONG TERM. You are stacked right on top of each other as well and people have their dogs running wild.
My 20 star review: "Bug in muh eye...xtra protein yall!"
Ha! Thank you youtube algorithm for serving up this awesome video. This has been done already but ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ + 👍
Excellent video Mr Karrpool
Ayyyeee so glad the Algorithm sent it to you. Thanks for watching
Yeah I didn’t think it was bad at all
Same. I've stayed there several times while passing through. Never had an issue.
I was looking forward to that back flip #letdown lol but the banana bike ride was pretty hilarious lol
What do you mean? I nailed that backflip
Banana bike ride ftw definitely. just needed a boombox (or at least a mini speaker ) to be big ballin' while riding it
@@karrpoollane haha!
I’ve stayed at that KOA several times. The spots can be uneven, but hey…it’s at the base of a mountain people! It’s actually great if you have kids and you want to camp with the family or large group. It’s very clean every time and the staff is always kind. Beware of Karen reviews always.
Totally agree!
This video got you an immediate follow! Camping in Flagstaff right now, but not at the KOA.
Glad to hear it. Thank you so much for watching
Did it have the little trailer where you could buy breakfast? If so I've overnighted at that KOA and would give it the same review as you. Thanks for sharing.
Nooo the Kamp kitchen was closed. I was sad
You can't always judge a place by the comments people leave. Some people, like my wife, are never satisfied or happy with their experiences due to unreasonable expectations and/or because, let's face it, some people are just plain ole curmudgeons.
Amen 😂
Imagine paying 48$ a night to "camp" and then complaining about how "uneven" the ground is.
😂
I find that there is a certain generation who needs things catered and curated. I once read a review on driving the Alaskan highway that said, "Beautiful drive, mountains, trees, rivers, it was gorgeous. One star because we didn't see any bears." p.s. knife wielding man was more than likely a guy washing dishes and keeping the silverware in a cup. Gotta love those millennial reviews.
😂
Stayed there twice when I was a kid. We had a blast! Loved it!
Sounds like a lot of the 1 star reviews were Karens 😂
Used to work security and grounds keeping here up until a couple years ago. Great place and people just poorly managed up until about a year ago when the owners booted out the old GM. The new GM seems to be improving things for sure.
Good to know. It seemed great there
Dude, the first rule on the bouncing pillow sign was "NO footwear"! Other than that, good review.
I didn’t read the rules. 1 star behavior on my part.
Just curious… Why do you show so much content using reverse images? All the text on t-shirts is backwards, your steering wheel is on the wrong side etc…
Cell phone, selfie camera does that...
Yup, these are awesome. Great job Jordan. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thanks Jason!
$48 for a tent site. I can get a motel outside of Flagstaff for $52. Real price on Priceline.
I agree
We loved our stay at Flagstaff KOA...Great Hiking behind the campground. We give them 5*️⃣,s We were there before the official camping season started.
I died when I seen the ‘banana bikes’. I’ve not heard that term before and was picturing maybe a regular bike with a banana seat?
“Last time an adult rode one of those it broke”
That wording leads me to believe they are mostly for kids to begin with. Not only that, but they are barely above the ground. “My dad was on the ground!!” as if he fell from a bicycle? 😂 Lady, your dad was ALREADY on the ground to begin with. He fell about three inches!
In all fairness, It's a KOA so we should already expect it to be a way overpriced garbage campground.
Omg, the houses! Nothing like camping in someone's backyard, lol.
Circle Pines KOA in Williams is about 30 minutes from that KOA and it’s GREAT!!!
Flagstaff KOA is terrible. The KOA is Williams is a 5 star campground.
Thank you so much
And very possibly 200lbs which would be way over the limit. I liked that they were honest about a bike breaking from the last adult renter.
Dispersed camping is always undefeated.
I agree
I stayed at flagstaff RV park quarter mile north of this KOA. Looked at this park, glad I stayed out of there. Pretty low standards for KOA.
Why would you let a 70 year old ride a *KIDS Banana Bike* ?? no wonder it broke ........ geez People are stupid
The rules said “No Shoes” on the jumping pillows. Maybe things are breaking because people are breaking the rules. 😂
$48? That’s cheap compared to KOA prices on the east coast
Dang! For a tent site?
You should check out Lo Lo Mai in Page Springs. About an hour from where you're at now. Beautiful camp ground.
I delivered Bridgford items (sandwiches, cheese...) to that park in the early 2000s.
Rock on yent means it was blowing away. They helped that person...
