Thanks for doing these comparisons for notebooks that meet similar requirements even if they are different in size or specs. It's tremendously helpful when shopping for a new product.
Also I love that you include practical features such as USB-C PD charging, support for DP alt mode, quality of the keyboard / touchpad etc. in your reviews, rather than just comparing specs and performance. These details matter so much in daily use, yet many reviewers don't bother to address them.

I went from a 2020 G14 (R7/1660Ti) to a 2022 G15 (R7/3060), and omfg the slight differences made the experience much better! Larger 1440p screen, webcam and better battery made it from having a near-perfect laptop to a perfect laptop!

Have had the 3080 G15 for nearly a year now, and have been exceptionally pleased with it. It's not the most powerful gaming laptop in terms of FPS but plays most demanding titles effortlessly, and with it's sleek looks and well built chassis, it was my number one choice. My only criticism is the keys on the white model are sometimes difficult to see.

I have the G14 2022 model with 6800S and 1200p screen. It's great! My only issues have been some dodgy bios/software from ASUS that has since been corrected.
Edited for more on the G14 2022 in general. :
The battery life (with the latest bios) is excellent. No Nvidia or Intel based laptop is going to come close. So this is a massive consideration if you're actually going to be using your laptop on the go. Similarly, the power draw is lower and you can run it even lower while still getting enough performance to play certain games. This makes it better for USB-C charging while in use and also if (like me who is currently vanlife travelling) overall power use is a concern.
The 16:10 screen is the future. It's just soooo much better than 16:9 and there's very little downside, especially if you have the 1200p screen model. I haven't done any photo or video editing on it yet but the colours seem good enough. Came from a 15" 16:9 screen and haven't missed it at all, this seems barely smaller.
Overall build quality is excellent. Better than I expected. Very solid. Keyboard feels great. No noticeable flex. No screen wobble, probably because of the screen foot lever design, as sometimes the screen might fall down if you pick up the laptop.
Port selection is good enough but a placement is a little annoying. I wish there were USB-A on each side instead of next to each other. Also, would be better if the power port was on the back instead of the side. Windows Hello camera works fine, my personal preference would be a fingerprint scanner instead.
Regarding power, heat, and battery. You can use the Armoury software to tweak a few things but the standard power preset options seem fine. I've noticed that the performance difference between "Performance" and "Turbo" is minimal, but the fan volume is incredibly noticeable. So, I just keep it on Performance mode when gaming. The auto-switching to Silent mode and low screen hz on battery is an amazing feature that every laptop should have.
The only real 'enthusiast' tweaking I did was using a program called "Boost Manager" (found it on the G14 reddit, it's available on GitHub) to disable CPU boost in most situations (You can also manually turn it off). With normal use and gaming, disabling CPU boost drops your temps by 10-20'c (along with the related fan noise drop) and I've seen basically no performance drop (occasionally improved performance due to the lower temp). However you may see performance drops with CPU heavy appllications if needed for work or content creation, which is why Boost Manager is great because you can just re-enable whenever you want.

Also: 6800S despite the "8" is actually a smaller chip. Even among Radeon chips the 6800S has fewer render cores than the 6700m, and likewise, the 6700S has the same number of render cores as the 6600m. Note the "S" designation has more to do with how much VRAM is there than the outright power (more like just lower power vis a vis the render core count). My guess is some professional rendering might actually use the VRAM. This won't show up in benchmarks in doing a final render over time, but more like how if you're designing a digital image the higher VRAM will allow for it to not get laggy as you progress.

Despite I really like my G14 (2020), a quality is a problem. I had RMA for HDMI and random double clicks on the keyboard. They repaired it but after my warranty has gone the HDMI had a different problem (motherboard repair cost ca. 150 $ ... 3rd party service because ASUS service is horrible), double clicks appeared again and now the GPU fan started rattling. I red in forums that the fan problem is also presented for 2021 version so expect it for sure for 2022 version too. So guys, these devices are really revolutionary but regarding the price we are not getting the premium quality... BTW my comment had 1 or 2 double clicks ;)

Having lived with my top-of-the-line G14 for several months. I am finding it less than ideal for casual use. It's too hot to sit on my lap for more than ten minutes. The keyboard is not as nice as on a ThinkPad or Yoga. The glare from the keyboard backlighting leaking around the keys is much brighter than the light coming through the keys, making it difficult to use in the dark and simply irritating. The touchpad comes too close to the edge and so can too easily be touched.
The G14 is fine on a desk in a well-lit room with a mouse and maybe an external keyboard. I'd rate it 7/10, despite its wonderful screen and screaming performance.

My only gripe is we never get much AMD machines this year. And most of the machines still uses older 6x00m series rather than 6x50m or even the XTs. Either stock shortages is the issue or laptop manufacturers are not confident in the Radeon graphics. Which is a shame.

Thanks for making this video! I've seen a few other people with this question recently, so I figured I'd ask here in case you can provide some feedback:
Currently, the G14 (6700S model) and the G15 (3060 model) are the exact same price of $1099. Both seem like a great deal, and I'm torn on which is the better buy. My priorities in a laptop are generally battery life, performance (at both productivity and gaming) and build quality/feel of mouse and keyboard.
It seems like the G14 has better battery life, slightly better build quality, and better performance on battery at the cost of less performance in productivity (something I plan to do quite a bit of) and a smaller display. In contrast, the G15 seems to have less battery life, but a larger display and a more powerful GPU.
Any recommendations in my situation? Both seem like great buys and it's tough to decide. Thanks for the video as always!

I had a Ryzen + 3080 G15 for two years. A white laptop turns heads everywhere and I managed to keep it clean. What also stood out where the great speakers. What made me sell it was the loud fan noise even under minimal load and the display glare. It had good power but with Ryzen Controller software limiting the temps to 80 degrees to keep the noise down it throttled hard and not much performance was left. Not even cooling mods and a big DIY coolingpad could really help it. I got a MSI GS67HX this year, I miss the great build quality of the Asus but its much more usable with a good cooling solution :)

I really loved seeing the improvements of this year's g14 it's a beautiful laptop but there are many things that discouraged me the laptop changed the direction it had this year and simply now points to a much more premium quality, if before it aimed to compete in a way more generally with mid-high range laptops today its main rival is the razer blade which is not bad but dedicating yourself to just competing with that premium range raised its price much more and not to mention the details that you do not discover until you have that laptop.
note: This laptop is simply beautiful too bad the competition in this world is so fierce. (DEFINITELY THE ANIMATRIX IS THE BEST THING THAT COULD EXIST IN THIS LIFE AND IF IN THE FUTURE YOU WILL HAVE OR ALREADY HAVE RGB PREPARENCE TO BUY THIS LAPTOP)

Sorry this reply is very late but the g14 has a great screen for movies / portable gaming. Of course you won’t get the same performance as a MacBook / rtx gpu but it’s pretty good nonetheless. I’d recommend using the laptop on balanced mode and not turbo as the performance difference between that and the silent aren’t worth the extra noise. Also the 8gb vram will last you longer in the long run (just make sure to keep the laptop ventilated) and imo best part about it is that it has usb4 (Thunderbolt 3 equivalent). So overall I highly recommend it in my opinion, and it has a better screen than the g15 which is less bright although a bit bigger.

After watching your and Ben's laptop videos, and many components and build videos, I've noticed that if you are patient enough, laptops will be discounted according to their "weakest link," regardless of how good the rest of the components might be.
    For example, in July 2022, I bought a Gigabyte G5 GD Gaming Laptop with i5-11400H CPU, 16GB RAM, 15.6" 144Hz 1080p, and RTX 3060M.
First, since then, even with Black Friday Sales, I haven't seen it for less than $800, and second, for $700, I could not build a PC with comparable performance.
I expect the G5 to last me a few years, and being to get a dramatically better laptop for under a grand in 2025.

I would like to request an additional battery life test, "light load". For example, you could run a video editing software and cut some videos in 4K quality and render them. In some tests, Macbooks were able to get almost five times as much battery life compared to Windows laptops and even have better performance too. I feel that's something people really need to be aware of, that you cannot use windows laptops for anything other than Office and Web Browsing if you are on battery and this kinda defeats the purpose of having a portable laptop. Those 600 minutes of 720p playback will quickly turn into 150 minutes of doing anything remotely demanding and I think latter is the more realistic scenario. I suspect dramatic changes will occur there in the coming years and documenting them with such a test would be useful.
