Did Keegan get one of those "I helped build this" shirts? Man was putting in some time! Stoked for the next video
Haha yeah seriously!
tiny suggestion, you could make a rear mesh in between the original height of the bed and the new higher one, that way hot air from the radiator has a way of coming out when you are street driving and the top panel is on, that way the top panel can be completelly flat and nothing small on the load falls through
I was going to comment the same thing! I also think it would look way better in the long run and not have a chance of stuff fall through onto the radiator.
Might not look good because you'd then have to cut the bed door
I think he means that solid strip in the back could be mesh that way he doesn’t have to mess with the tailgate
Tip
Don’t mig weld near your nice new aluminium radiator!
The welding sparks that can be tiny or even much larger than a grain of salt can find their way into inconvenient places. If they are very hot they can stick to the very thin walls of the core and create a weak spot when they come loose, or they can stay there and cause corrosion eating away the alloy.
Was thinking the same the whole time was stressing me out
Very good point
I’ve been watching your videos for quite a few years now gingium and I love the progression you’ve had with the channel. Even with your toughest time probably being your move to your new state, you still pumped out videos of building/working on your cars and it really just made me think of when you were in your parents garage. Anyway you’re one of the most genuine TH-camrs out there man keep up the good work!👍
Thank you so much for the kind words. I appreciate the support a ton!!
I'm sure it's a lil late for this one but some dimple die holes in the back wall would not only look cool but will also help with air flow when the floor plates are on, and you could do matching ones in the tail gate so it flows all the way through
you can still do the dimple dies by using an impact to drive a nut and bolt through the middle for the clamping force
Yeaaaaah that would’ve been cool 😢
@@chrismichaelyoung I meant late as in maybe he already did it depending on how far ahead he is on videos
@@_Gingium_ you can still do it if it's something you wanna do
Totally agree. Some dimple dies along the back wall would help alleviate any airflow build up while driving with the top covered. Great idea!
For the flooring thats going over the radiator, have you considered doing a grate instead of a solid piece with air vents? That way, it would be visible even when its in street mode, and the air flow will remain solid.
that's a grate idea
Yes I think that’s exactly what I’ll do actually!!
Nice! @@_Gingium_
@@chrismichaelyoungmy kind of humor 😄
Keegan's shop slides going hard
man Keegen has grown up soooo fast I remember watching the quad bike videos and now he's soooo big
Someone get this man one of those contour tools that tile layers use to get perfect fit cut tiles!
Seriously tho, kinda amazed how well you can follow a contour without one. And definitely a little jealous of Keegan getting that Gingium instruction time!
Love that your showing Keegan some knowledge!
lil' Keegan ain't that little no more. great to see him taking his first steps in the fabium world
Good to see you teaching the young man!
man you really deserve more views for the quality of work and videos you put out. hope you're enjoying starfield, i've been playing it too much so i haven't caught any live streams yet
Haha I appreciate it! Definitely been enjoying Starfield. Maybe a little too much 😂
Caleb making this whole giant process look as easy as a simple arts and crafts project. well done dude
I absolutely love that you're teaching the next generation in the best possible way. Great job for real.
Wait a minute... Gingium has a son 👌 keep that bloke on,killing it on the welding
Awesome to see Keegan again! Hope to see him back more often to learn from you Ging! :D
Young Keegan was doing a great job with that welder! nice one dude 👌👍 , that truck is dreamy man I’m loving it I’d love to be annoying my neighbours with that 😂
Gingium and Prizzamike are my top 2 favorite car channels.. will I ever use what I learn from them on my own projects? Maybe 🤷♂️ but it's 100% inspiration and influence towards my aspirations
wait till you go down the rabbit hole that is "bad obsession motorsport"👍
I maintain that you have the most unique car builds on TH-cam
Idea for the cooling. Cut the backside plates you put in the bed and cut lower side of the tailgate if the hinges dont go to that part. With this way you could use the bed and you wont lose any cooling. :)
Quick suggestion. You should get the bed sandblasted. It'd clean up the old rubber coating, rust, and paint and make it so much easier to just quickly prep and SteelIT the whole thing gray.
I'm so proud of you because you woke up and started using metric
As I was watching this, I still can't believe your content went from sticker-bombing the interior bits of Fred the Focus to this. I love your channel and its been an incredible ride
Edit to say it was super cool to see Keegan again and how much he has grown! He put in some serious work this video and its cool to see you teach him the ropes and give him the chance to do things. Gonna give this kid the passion and skills to do what you do in no time. Keep it up!!
Just a hint, you can check if a level indicates correctly by putting it on something that's somewhat close to level, take note of where the plum is, turn the level 180 degrees around and put it in the same spot again. If the plum is in the same spot, your level is good. If it's in a different spot, your level is bad.
I think some "speed holes" in the very back would look awesome and help with cooling
You should definitely do tie bars from the bottom of the bed sides to the bed because the bed side will flex and bend without them. Also should drill holes between the old bed height and the new floor so you can vent the hot air put when the floor cover is on by opening the tailgate when driving
Crazy asl to think I remember u not even knowing how to weld and now u have come to be full on fabricator and its crazy killin the game
Love that the tacks look like rivets!
That bed looks like it finna be STURDY
i just love how this channel transitioned slowly from a gaming channel to an automotive channel
You should rethink below the tailgate and make that a vent for the radiator. Either active flaps or just speed holes like you do on bumpers to release captured air.
I'm so glad I found this channel, I love when actual car TH-camrs really working on their own cars 👏🏾👍🏽. Keep it up bro 💯
Back panel by suspension and radiator should be a light smoked plexiglass panel
you inspired my mini drift truck build love this
Consider making the removable plates out of aluminum for weight reasons. Get ya-self some of that diamond pattern aluminum plate.
2 things... 1 are you sure it's a good idea to put the fuel tank right over the drive shaft with nothing to protect it if the shaft breaks. 2 are you going to put some vent holes in the bed or back panel of the bed floor to help hot air escape from under the bed cause I feel like you might have overheating issues if you don't
14:15 though. Just amazing
Drift truck looking insane 😍
Put vents in the rear vertical piece in addition to the bed plate.
You should also cut holes and add rubber flaps into the fan shroud for better airflow when the fans are off. Look at Flyin Miata's higher end fan shrouds for inspiration.
honestly some round holes in the vertical plate after the radiator and the gate of hte bed not only would look sick but also provide some airflow when you have the top cover on
lil Bro growing up!
Food for thought, when you make the "cover plates" and complete the bed. Look into doing the structural rolls that most truck beds have. You can use a thinner gauge metal to save on weight while keeping that rigidity and usefulness.
Not only is gingium making this build functional for a purpose he originally designed it not to do he is also making it have more strength for wall taps lol but great thinking having removable plates in the bed for cooling and just overall making it look sick
Yet again, another superb quality video. My prayer for you is that your chancel gets the recognition it deserves brother 💪
absolutely love this project
@gingium I think you should drill speed holes in the rear plate behind the radiator to help with air flow while the floor plates are in
Absolutely amazing work man! So fun to watch. Keep it up!!
Some old school hot rod style louvers would be a nice way to get a little air flow on that back plate by the tail gate. Keeps it low profile and you could maybe even us em over the top of the rad
Dope video, that bed looks unreal!
Safety glasses, gloves, ear defenders and sliders 😂😂
19:19 drill some holes and dimple this peace so there can be airflow when cover is on
bruh I happened to come a cross your videos in the middle of when you first started the rally Miata and I've loved them, and now your videos are hella sick and can't get enough of the builds no matter which build. hell yeah man
Love that you have realised metric is the only way to go
You could make some tool storage in the bed, could be useful
Make sure you add some good thick shielding between your drive shaft and fuel tank!
This car is becoming so good!
Keep it up!
Maybe a louvered tailgate, they look great with the right look, and if you vent the raised bed it could dissipate heat
I think the level you threw away is the correct one 🤣
Good to see you get some more help in the shop!
Instead of a removable plate, you ships do a strong mesh screen for the radiator fans to breath through but also durable enough to put shit on top of
Maaaaaaaaan the bed is looking so nice, it really does transform it form a messy set of pipes to a purposeful display of fabrication. Keep pushing through ging 💪
What are you going to do in terms of painting the frame? Powdercoating, flat black or durabak?
The frame itself? Probably black Steel It
love this series fr
I love the finesser shirt 😂😂😂😂
I've been watching your channel for a long time, and I must say, your build quality and attention to detail has drastically improved. Not that it was bad before.... Awesome work!
I really hope u drive this a lot when it’s done , take part in some comps or something
2:42 Giving you a thumbs up just for that.
i have that same fuel cell in my d21. if the fuel level is below 3/4-1/2 the fuel will go away from the pickup when you turn and fuel starve the engine. before events i just fill it 100%. better for weight distribution any ways.
Anti slosh foam or tank baffles with a sock on the pump feed tube will mitigate that problem
This channel deserves more sub.💖
You always leave me wondering how the hell you do this stuff. Absolutely amazing is honestly an understatement with your work.
This looks so awesome
Just do a front mount rad that’s really wide/deep, but not very tall, so it basically fits the grill space, then duct/vent it out the hood in the space above/in front of the battery pack/motor.
Love the roast of the Imperial units 😂😂😂
good to see u making progress🛻
I think you can officially say that this car has more math into building it than Oppenheimer did with project Manhattan.
Are you worried about weight at all with all this extra metal?
I cut out more than I added
These videos are so easy to watch for them being longer videos. Very nice work 🫶🏼
Check out Devin Niemela as well. A bit more of a nut and bolt guy (he can knock out an engine swap in a day from broken to first start) however he just AWD K swapped an FK8 Type R. I'm excited to see what he does next given everything he learned doing that.
Gingium is probably my favorite fab TH-camr though. Got to meet him twice at MATG this year and he's an awesome guy.
Been watching since you were working on your wrx out of your garage.
Caleb-ium, what are you going to do if (when) you tap something with the bed? Way too custom now. Maybe just replace outer panel portions? Or just rock the damage? Sick build either way man!
Good way to check a level is reading ture level is turning it 180 and seeing if it still reads the same
Looks awesome
I just came back to your channel after having unsubscribed for quite a while and have to say......BIG IMPROVEMENTS!! resubscribed ! keep up the good work. + your cm/mm anti imperial remark sealed the deal 🤣
Looks great now I started throwing some frame jacks
10:32 Some houses have weaker foundations then that frame there that you build. Definitely overkilled it😃
Awesome solution. Maybe you already did off camera, but those bed mounts will be way stronger in compression if you weld up the corners that you had slotted for bending.
You need one of them there laser level doohickey
I'd really like to see the front fenders done in a way somewhat similar to some Group B homologation cars. The seam/crease/line or whatever it's called right above the wheel arch seems like the perfect place to just put new metal in and widen the front.
Just a suggestion, but if you put some speed holes in the vertical portion at the rear. With some matching vents in the tailgate, you maybe wouldn't have to add vents to the floor and risk any material falling through. Cheers
Love the vids man cant wait to meet you one day
Nice work ❤️ 👍🏾
Make a spare set of covers for the suspension and Axel made of plexiglass or something clear for when you take it to car shows
I’m so excited to see this thing done!!! and paint or wrap whatever you it’s gonna be so 🔥🔥
I am never dissapointed with these vides bro! Keep up the hard work! Lookin hella sick! :D
GOOD MORNING BEAST GINGUM MOLLY TH-cam CANADA ONTARIO VIDEO MISSISSAUGA TRANSIT 🇨🇦🇨🇦🍀🍀🍀🍀🐈🐈
Diamond plate would've been cool for the bed floor, durable and little risk of oil canning
7:21
I was there 3000 years ago in an other TH-cam life.
Caleb the secret Canadian!
Never clicked on a video so fast.

street trucks with chopped beds are not my cup of tea. If there isn't at least some practicality retained its just a boxy car. Props for keeping it functional!
Hey Gigium i been watching ur video from few good time , and have idea for v2 drift track and for garage . 1. Put under truck some carbon or aluminum plates whit air tunels for air burbble effect. 2. U neeed asap good 3D printer for custom bits, 3d prindet vortex generation xd and more costum things
