    Reminder for everyone to just get out and do something on your project.. anything, if you just dedicate a few minutes of your time a night you will be months ahead on your project. One "thing" accomplished today after work will translate to a lot being accomplished overtime

      Even just get out into your garage and clean/organize; it'll get you thinking about what needs to get done. Just dedicate an hour twice a week or more and stuff will get done.

    I really appreciate that you're keeping the solid rear axle. Don't use a panhard bar. Use a watts linkage. Panhard bars are good if you need a lot of travel, but they cause the axle to move side to side throughout the travel of the suspension. A watts linkage keeps the axle centered, as long as there is not a ton of travel. I'm not an engineer or anything, just a teenager who has done a lot of research on solid axles because I'm slightly obsessed with them. Keep up the great work!

    • @delavarzarnegar8170
      @delavarzarnegar8170 ปีที่แล้ว

      I second this! Watts link is way cooler and almost 0 side to side movement

    • @Finnspin_unicycles
      @Finnspin_unicycles ปีที่แล้ว

      The counterpoint is always: once you go "real racecar", you don't see much suspension travel. So then it becomes a question of whether the extra complexity and unsprung weight of a watts link is worth preventing a few mm (or even less) of sideways axle movement..

  • @codyhoran2479
    @codyhoran2479 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Try do a watts linkage instead of a pan hard bar for the rear end may help with drifting with a solid rear end

I just dont want you to run into overcentering tie rod issues, which im pretty sure you already have. ❤️ fantastic work as always!

    Love how well the front end turned out but I feel like a cantilever suspension for the rear running a solid axle is just looking a for a ton of headaches compared to adapting a rear subframe from an s chassis. And parts availability and aftermarket support will be even greater when something gets torn up which will happen in drifting.

    an honest recommendation to an already badass build, instead of a normal panhard bar, try out a Watts Link setup, it'll keep the rear axle perfectly in line up and down. It would just add another level of different to an already out of the box style drift car/truck.

    Caleb, you do great work! ...you have completely rebuilt the front of the truck, and it looks awesome! ...Why not notch the Front subframe & relocate the Steering rack?! ...those spacers are VERY unreliable, and are for ppl who have no inclination to fabricate ...you are capable of doing the rack relocation. The loading that the rack end threads will be put thru is quite brutal ...and many racks have split and caused wrecks. If you've followed Jimmy Oakes/AdamLZ in the last 5 years, you would see how many times they've had to replace their racks.

    At 17:19 when you're bolting that tie rod on? The bolt should always be pointing down, not up. That way in case the nut vibrates off or another failure, gravity will hold the bolt in place. And you'll still be able to steer!! lol It's like an aircraft standard. Bolts always face down, or away from the direction of travel, for safety.
