One of my favorite Nog episodes is Treachery, Faith, and the Great River (S7, Ep. 6) where Nog introduces Chief O'Brien to the Great Material Continuum.
"Treachery, Faith, and the Great River" really showed what the Ferengi way of life could offer when disconnected from the toxic greed that was so common throughout the society, I think that episode showed a good preview of what Moogie/Rom where destined to bring to society later in the series.

So Nog was promoted to Lt within a year of graduating the academy as an Ensign. Harry Kim spent 7 years on Voyager as an Ensign doing a Lt Cmdr's job (Head of Operations). Even as someone who liked Ezri I agree, Sisko wanted her because he wanted his friend back, but Ezri was only a junior counselor before she got Dax and after Dax she should have taken the time to get her head on straight before resuming her career.
@@vamp_bat_chomp Yeah... I liked Ezri too, but the fact she only had one season to be introduced and integrated into the cast/crew did not do the character any favors. The Ferengi were a terrible species before DS9 and even the first season didn't do much in their favor. But the writers did the difficult job of laying the groundwork to make them more well rounded and the actors and directors pulled it off beautifully. Afterwards, Quark, Rom, and Nog together with the appearance of others along the way made them an amazing three dimensional addition to Star Trek lore.

This was an excellent video!!! Thank you soooo much! Nog was my favorite character from DS 9. I was very saddened to learn of Aron Eisenbergs passing. He was a brilliant actor who faced a challenging role and pulled it off with remarkable success. The Ferengi were my least favorite people when introduced in TNG. All those playing Ferengi in DS 9 shows changed that over time but particularly the character if Nog. Aron will be missed as an actor in the world of sci fi media but left us with a great collection of film to enjoy. Thank you again for documenting this!

I used to play a few years ago, have two admiral characters but the grind to get better ships got very boring for me tbh, I might go back and play it some more at some point. I saw they added Aron to the plaque in Earth Spacedock and got the feels.
The idea that Nog might have had a role in the development of the Chimera seems very likely and logical, as he later became Captain of said starship. Why? Because this would have given him technical knowledge of the vessel, and possible quirks. Also, this fits perfectly with the fact that Sisko was involved in design of the Defiant, and then later became (the first?) of this vessel.
A wonderful video... Thank you sir for making it. As a simple man moving into his older years, I am grateful to have witnessed good story telling on the small screen.
Nog was *refused* first by Sisko - and not Accepted. Only after Nog broke down and revealed his Intentions to be true Sisko accepted - because, Nogs Words were something he whished for his Son who did not wanted to and also - mainly - of himself and his Fathers Buisness he sought to escape from, joining Star Fleet. Nogs Words were - without knowing - the exact Words Sisko told his Pa as he left in a quarrel for not returning a long Time, both holding somewhat of a Grudge. And Nog is practically a "Veteran" before his Career begins, as his first Battles are the worst and he was everytime all in the Fray and completelea out of his Zone - and yet he fought through. Thus, after his Wound, his PTSD kicked in fully - and by overcoming it, he became one of the greatest and most fierce and fearless Starfleet Offices. He may not have the Lobes, but his Balls are made from hardened Latinum and the Heart he has is bigger than a Targs.
One thing that needs to be added is there just before the end of the Dominion war (although it took place inside a holosuite program) he found a rather innovative use for his hyper sensitive hearing as a safecracker.
Well, you didn't capitalized on the events, but this was so good, it should've been released sooner, really good, cheers mate, and let's celebrate life with that character, A. Eisenberg was a genius, not only on Nog, everything he played.
Nog is one of my very favourite Star Trek characters. He just had such an inspiring and deeply fleshed-out character arc, despite starting out as a very minor supporting character, and Aron Eisenberg was such a superb actor.
I liked Nog on DS9 (well enough). But Quark was definitely my favorite Ferengi (an even better character). Quark was inevitably infected by Hue-Mon values, he was always stiil was a traditional Ferengi at heart.
The first character I made in STO was Ferengi. It wasn't specifically Nog related, but rather a combination of everything that had happened to their culture. Rom being Nagas, Nog being the first in to Starfleet, etc, allowed for the people to realize that they could have differently focused lives than just the pursuit of Profit.
I think Mewtwo’s quote applies to Nog; "I see now that the Circumstances of one's birth are irrelevant. It is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are."
I really enjoyed the episode when Nog explaned the great material continum. It was so good that he dervived value from not much. So good! Also A great character throughout DS9! I love watching star trek I always feel like I learn something even now, so many years later :)
Don't forget another spectacular Nog episode, "Treachery, Faith, and the Great River" which let Nog give us a window into the beautiful spirituality underneath Ferengi Culture's ruthless pursuit of profit and also how Nog was able to adapt his faith in that belief system to serve the needs of his crew. It's a showcase of how his culture rather than being just about greed, had something worthwhile to add to Starfleet and the Federation.
I loved NOG. DS9 was the best spin off from TNG. I'm glad the writers put in characters like NOG and his dad. Demonstrated that weren't always about profit with Ferengi, there was family, honor and compassion. NOG befriending Jake helped show that. I thought he was really a kid in real life until I saw he passed away. That's a testament to his acting. He always dominated the scene whenever it was with Jake. This makes me so sad. Rest In Peace.
Nog may not have had the piles of gold pressed latinum to have a high standing among his people, but the backing of Starfleet and his Ferengi cunning always gave him the upper hand. A diamond in the rough as all great Starfleet officers, and well deserved for the character and the actor who played him to be remembered forever.
Great video 👍 enjoy watching Nog growing up on DS9 it's so sad 😢 Aron Eisenberg "Nog" died so young. Again great video looking forward to seeing next video.

I never realized how much he accomplished. I'm glad I watched this. I think he and Jake were my favorites, and Odo too.
What a sparkling career
I think Mewtwo’s quote applies to Nog;
"I see now that the Circumstances of one's birth are irrelevant. It is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are."
I really enjoyed the episode when Nog explaned the great material continum. It was so good that he dervived value from not much. So good! Also A great character throughout DS9! I love watching star trek I always feel like I learn something even now, so many years later :)
What a great tribute! Well timed and very thoughtful.
Thank you for the wonderful tribute.
My favorite character from DS9. Talk about character arc. Well written and well acted. RIP Aron Eisenberg.
I hope, someday, we get a main Canon reference to Captain Nog, in a Star Trek series... He deserves that much. RIP Aron.
Fuckles! That guy died?! I just met him! :(
He had a lot to say about Nog, told stories, and was just a great guy to have lunch with! Damn, yo!
looks like he did something worthwhile.
Great video 👍 enjoy watching Nog growing up on DS9 it's so sad 😢 Aron Eisenberg "Nog" died so young. Again great video looking forward to seeing next video.
My eyes are watering. Thank you.
The boldest and most influential Ferengi i've ever known! Long live Nog!
Great tribute to a great character and great actor. Thanks
When I finally watched DS9 I thought to myself “wow this kid that plays Nog is so talented!” And I wanted to watch him in everything he had ever been in. That’s when I found out that he was no longer with us.
Legend has it that the only piece of gold pressed latinum Nog has is his Starfleet Insignia.
This was an excellent wrap up of Nog’s life
Nog was one of the best ds9 characters! In fact all its ferengi were great...
while its sad the actor for nog has passed away, I have always believed that while actors and actresses are finite. the characters they portrayed are forever so long as they are remembered. so I encourage all to continue weighting storeys that feature charaters whose actors have passed.
I loved the little shout-out with the USS Nog in Disco
"A person's actions dictate their position in life, not their position in birth"
Genius
Nog has been one of my favorite characters.
R.I.P. Aron Eisenberg. You left us much too soon.
Thank you for this, and rest in peace Aron
I praise you for adding the 'tribute'.
You're only human and thought about this guy, well ... because of the obvious. You have done well, in my opinion.
Sometimes the best of us, when confronted by something they cannot grasp need to be reminded of who they are.
So it was for Nog after his injury.
NGL it wouldn't surprise me one bit if Nog just ended up as an admiral
It's an excellent tribute to a wonderful character.
New respect for Captain Nog.
RIP of the first ferengi of the federation
That's a great title when you read it.
Nog's appeal to Sisko to join Starfleet was one of the best scenes in the series, imo. A real breakout character.
