    Thanks for the video. I have caught many with mine and it’s fairly straightened out. I have one that has triggered it twice with no catch. I have tried curving them while holding the spring in. Your video is gonna the fix much easier.

    And don't forget to clean them after touching them with your hands.
    Also, they are replaceable, you can buy new ones too put on your trap

    Excellent video, but just a note of caution: at the very end of the video, you push the thin, small wire (the "tripwire" essentially ), located inside the actual metal trap part to demonstrate how to get the trap part back inside.
    Be VERRRRRRRY careful, because if you're uncoordinated like I am, it hurts like a bitch when the trap unexpectedly springs back on its own - with tremendous force - and catches your finger in it. OUCH!!

      @TheBlueberryFarmer  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ritajensen7277 hey Rita thanks for your comment. Yeah you definitely don’t want your fingers anywhere around the trip wire part unless the spring is released. Dang I bet that did hurt.

    Dry firing the trap can ruin the catch wires. To unload a set trap, hold the bottom of the trap (near the catch end) and push the top of the trap tight against your body, trip the trap and let it up easy. Also, a little fresh carrot at the bottom of the trap hole before inserting the trap is sometimes helpful in catching stubborn dirt rats.

    This really helps (I hope). Gonna try it. No other video covers this aspect (fixing the trap basket). I think mine is bent . No luck all year. The other issue is setting it in sand. I live within a mile of the beach and our soil is very sandy. Easy to find the tunnels, easy to see their diggings, but also easy for them to dig around the trap, I think. If anyone has tips on this I'd appreciate it.

    • @TheBlueberryFarmer
      @TheBlueberryFarmer  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah that sand is tough some times. I seem to do better after it has rained. Definitely check those little straps on the trap. Mine doesn’t catch them very well if they don’t spread out good. Thanks for the comment 👍

    Maybe when not in use, you can also undue the spring and leave the end out so it doesn't lose shape. Don't know if directions say this.

    Thanks for making this video, it’s reall helpful. Do you think it’s ok if it’s at a little bit of an angle when it’s in the ground? I put it in where I have bougainvillea growing and they are so thorny and dense that I can’t get the trap to go straight up…Im wondering if it will work

      @@TheBlueberryFarmer - It depends on the situation, but what I often do is dig out a hole at the center of the mole hill and find one of the openings to that mound. Then when I put the probe into the ground I can find how well centered the probe is. That way I end up very close to being centered on that tunnel. After I the trap set I just throw the dirt I dug out back in the hole and wait......I use three different traps and this is the best by far. 😄

    • @TheBlueberryFarmer
      @TheBlueberryFarmer  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Greg those darn things are tricky. Make sure the trap is deep enough and there’s no light getting around it and those wires are spread enough. I’m not able to catch any moles with mine due to them making shallow tunnels. And if the ground is too hard I can’t get them deep enough for the gophers either. 🤦‍♂️
