It’s best to gently tug on the hawk & dig around it before pulling it out of the ground. You never know when it’ll be trapped by the paw & still be alive - easy for them to escape. If u feel/see movement of the hawk, it’s still alive & u need to dig it out with a shovel then manually kill it.

I bought one from ACE yesterday and caught one about two hours later. The nice thing is that it’s easy to install without afraid to snap my fingers and easy to drop off the dead moles without touch it, it’s the best trap that I ever had.

This is the only thing that worked to eliminate my gopher problem. Worth the investment!

Well the problem I’m running into with it is that my entire lawn soil is all soft. It’s well watered. So everywhere I stick the probe it’s soft. Hard to tell where the run is even poking around the holes

Been fighting with a victor trap for a week now, time to invest in a gopherhawk. The victor trap is almost impossible for me to set up without the help of my husband, which angers me to no end. Don't like being dependent but the Victor trap definitely shows you your limitations.

    gopher or mole?

This is a big, nope. You need moist/damp soil to get this in the ground. I live in a desert. Very hard dry ground Once I finally got it set up...... Well. I use the long rod with a handle to look for tunnels. The rest of the trap went to the dump.

appreciate the vid, thank you. i have a golf course lawn and deal with moles every year. this may be the ticket for along the boarder edges of the grass

  • @russshaber8071

I got a long auger to drill the holes. It's a little smaller than the trap, but easy to widen with the tool.

I like my gopherhawk. I got lucky; 1st time catch! It is a great tool, but like every tool, it is all about application.

I'm sure I'll be fighting gophers soon. We're building a homestead basically down the road from you in Overton and just started our channel. Good to see other folks in our area on this journey!

Bought this week ago put it in the ground ten minutes later caught one caught second one not long after, I bought just the trap alone no probe which all I do is shove the water hose in the hole for minute then set the hawk at a 45° angle & presto you catch a varment in a short time.
