- Hey! Let's learn this iconic intro together for one of Rock and Roll's greatest anthems of all time. A new format I would like to explore and I am anxious to get your thoughts. Short videos with great guitar ideas in between our regular bi-weekly detailed videos. Nuggets - bite size! Let me know what you think and I'll start pumping them out. Cheers!
In this video I am using the Audigo wireless mic and iPhone app - Learn more at www.audigolabs.com/gaw
* Audigo makes high quality recording simple and easy. And you can use it anywhere. The Audigo mic records directly to on-board memory and transfers audio to the iPhone app after recording, so no drop-outs or Bluetooth quality issues. Audio and video shot in the app are automatically synced. You can adjust stereo width, add reverb and EQ, and mix multitrack recordings.

Fabulous - thank you Stevie! Shane
This was always one of my favorite songs to strum on the guitar, but the intro was always over my head. This was the first video that really helped me put it together, much appreciated!
Very glad to hear that - have fun with it! Shane
Great video lesson Shane, many thanks 🙂
Thank you David - very glad you enjoyed it and hope you have a ton of fun with this song. Shane

Fabulous - very glad! Thanks for that. Shane
I like these nuggets! You can tell Jack knows music, because his head perked up went you played all the way through at the end :)
Thank you Shane! This bite size is awesome! You really make this sound easy. At age 65 and been playing guitar for 40 plus years, I’m learning so much from you and your videos. Where were you 40 years ago? LOL! You would have made my playing so much easier . Going back and watching all your videos. Will be signing up for your Patreon. ❤🎸
Thank you Joseph - glad to have you here with us. I appreciate the encouragement. My best to you! Shane
Hey that was perfect, I've been wanting to learn this and can't believe how simple it was. Old age setting in, good stuff Shane!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed. Shane
Absolutely, I love al your lessons.@@GuitarAtWork
You are a fabulous teacher Shane, just found your channel last night and learned so much. I'm a 55 year old father close to retirement and just really getting into guitar, I'm sticking with you! I will be a paying customer soon, just need a bit more gear, purchased a Fender Telecaster last week and a fender champ amp, now I need one of your loop pedals and drum / metronome pedals you've mentioned and yes will be using discount code . Thanks for everything ! J... Toronto , Canada
Hey thanks J - very encouraging. Glad to have you here with us and very happy you’re enjoying. Cheers! Shane 🇨🇦
Thank you Shane!! Great idea!!
Fabulous - thanks Ken - I appreciate you weighing in on this one. Glad to have you here with us. Cheers, Shane
Love this guy, best guitar teacher on TH-cam!
Thank you David - greatly appreciated! Shane
Hi Shane, I have been playing this song for many years now and in my own interpretation I have found that It also sounds nice in drop D and adding a nice drop d bass drone before moving into the Intro .. Thanks for all you do, greatly appreciate it !!!
Love these "nuggets" !
Hi Shane
Great idea for teaching various riffs, verses or specific techniques. Jack is looking great. Audigo is interesting new product looking fwd to learning more about it . Take care Rick
Thank you Rick - always appreciate your input. The Audigo is incredible. Wow. Let me know how you're doing with everything. Cheers, Shane (and Jack)
Brilliant idea! I know that when I'm working on a full song, it'd be nice to also have an iconic riff, intro, or lead that can be quickly picked up. For those like me that are not as advanced, it's a great motivator when I can master something immediately recognizable while I'm also learning a full song. Oh, and wouldn't mind seeing more of your pup!
That's super - thank you Frank - that's exactly what I had in mind. Fun little distractions while you're pecking away at tougher stuff. Pup's name is Jack - he's fabulous! Cheers, Shane
The short videos are good If you already know how to play and try to find out what you might be doing wrong. thank you Shane.. You have mucho respect from me
Great info
Thank you - glad you enjoyed, Shane
Awesome instructor
Thank you Rick - very glad to have you here with us! Shane
I liked it - and I really like how your dog was watching you.
Ha! OK thank you Blaine - my puppy Jack is a tough audience.....he doesn't miss a thing. Very glad you liked it and thanks for taking the time to talk. Cheers, Shane
Such a cute doggie Shane😍 he’s such a great sidekick
Thank you Kyla - Jack is super. Thanks for being here and hope you're doing well as can be! Shane
Hi Shane, I've always wanted to learn that lick. I'm glad and happy I subscribed to support your TH-cam channel. Thx Rick from Ottawa.✌👍🎶🎸
Thanks Rick - glad to have you with us! Shane
Nice ! Thank you . Gotta learn this now , I‘m in the mood to .
Lovely Taylor, aren’t they ? Love my 214ce .
Thanks Michael. Love this guitar. Cheers, Shane
Thank you Shane , gentleman 👍
Thank you my friend. I hope you have fun with it and thanks for being here with us. Cheers, Shane
@@GuitarAtWork once again thank you I always loved the intro to this classic... I'm getting to work on it right now 👍
The freeze frame at the end 😂
One of my all time favorite songs … might actually have to pick up my guitar after many months of neglect.
I hope you do pick up your guitar Dena - it's such a great instrument. Hope you have fun with it, Shane
Yeah interesting concept, keep it going mate 👍🏻 👌
Thanks Russ - much appreciate that. You've been here since the very beginning - Cheers! Shane

Thank you Tom - glad you enjoyed. My pup Jack is super. Cheers, Shane
Fun lesson!

I enjoyed this video. Lots of little tips thrown in too. Great idea. Although I did like seeing your canine friend I would have preferred a closer shot of the guitar. Great stuff Shane.

Love that the doggo is in the video!
Thank you CJ - hope you're doing as many gigs as you can there - so great. My pup Jack is amazing. Cheers, Shane
@@GuitarAtWork bah. I dislocated my middle finger on my left hand about 6 weeks ago so I am just getting back to starting to play again. Soon...
Hi Shane, I like the suggestion to keep my strumming hand on the bridge for the picking part. Thanks again!
Very glad that helped - glad to have you here. Shane
Hi Shane.
I like the idea of the short videos, learn some neat parts or riffs and give you something to go to when you need a change up from other songs you might be working on.
BTW, love the pup.
Take care
Hey thanks Wally - I'm glad you like the idea. I thought it would be fun to lighten things up here and there. Thanks for being here for so long lad. Hope you're well - Cheers! Shane
Keep ‘em going please
Will do - thanks! Shane
That was terrific Shane & a welcomed change! Would enjoy seeing more like this! Always loved that song. BTW, loved seeing the pooch in the video! What's his/her name? Keep up the great work! 👍👍🎸🎸🐶🐶
Thank you Steve - always happy to hear from you - I really appreciate the feedback. Glad you like the new format idea - it's looking like I'll keep it rolling in between more detailed videos we do every other week. Pup's name is Jack - he's two and a half and is super! Cheers, Shane
I haven't played this song on guitar in over 20 years but I don't remember playing it quite like you do.
I vaguely remember learning the song from tab decades ago. Possibly it was in Guitar Player as I subscribed to that rag decades ago.
What I do know is it's still a great acoustic guitar song. I may have to pickup a guitar and see if I can remember the old licks.
Hope you have fun with it! Shane
Lots to cover here in my comment. First nice cocker, very cute!🐶 Next, l like your haircut, it suits you!👱♂️
Third, l love the microphone for many reasons but mainly because it sounds good and it’s not intimidating to set up and use. Lastly, l love this format! It allows for me to practice the intro before getting into the body of the song which is usually the easier part. Thanks a bunch! 💐🙏🏻
What a fabulous comment Jade - thank you so very much. I hope you know how much it helps me at my end to hear your thoughts and suggestions. I read every single one. Very glad you enjoyed and my Puppy Jack will hopefully consent to doing more cameos. Cheers, Shane
Great video lesson, Shane. I think the tid-bit concept is a great one. You can often find the chords for reasonable "campfire" versions of songs (yes, I know ;) ) but licks and intros and such are much harder to find.
Thanks Chris - always good to hear from you. Hope you’re doing well. I appreciate the feedback. Cheers!
Shane
Hi Shane! Really great short and sweet lesson on the intro to "Wanted, Dead or Alive." I thought your whole setup was great. I'm interested in seeing more of these "shorts" from you but to be fair I have been watching a few of your fuller lessons and they're not too bad in length time wise. (IMO)... I was wondering on the Audigo mic, .. Does it run on a battery or do you charge it and how long does it last? Thanks for your lessons. You're one of my "go to" guys for certain tunes that I've always loved.
Thanks Michael - very glad you’re enjoying. The battery in the Audigo is rechargeable and lasts up to 4 hours. Amazing! Best to you, Shane
I love your dog❤
Thank you - his name is Jack and he’s super! Shane
@@GuitarAtWork precious!!!! I am watching your videos and learning too!!! I'm a beginner 😂
Love the quick 9 min so keep em coming. Any discount code for audiolog?
Thank you Sean - that’s great feedback. No discount code as of yet (thank you for asking), but I am hoping I will be a regular Affiliate/Advocate soon. It’s an absolutely amazing device. I can’t wait until the snow melts here so I can record outside with this thing. Thumbs way up. Shane
It’s ‘Audigo’ not ‘Audiolog’ cheers, Shane
@@GuitarAtWork hate auto correct. Sounds like a great mic concept
@@teamportsmouth7618 I’m with you Sean - I fight auto correct all day long. Glad to have you here. Cheers, Shane
i love this concept, Question ..Is there an easy way to find the second half with the remainder of the song ? Thank you
Прекрасный урок!
Прекраснейшая ТЕМА!
Я очень внимательно Вас слушал.
Спасибо огромное!
Thank you - my very best to you! Shane
Your dog is fascinated here
I don't care for the "official" YT shorts per se, but this type you did was fine. I can't believe your friend on the couch wasn't more interested ? LOLs and THANKS.
Ha! My puppy Jack is a tough audience for sure - thanks for the feedback. Glad you liked and I'm thinking more to come. Cheers, Shane
Hey shane, during the intro on the official video it sounds like sambora is playing a D shape chord on the 5th and 6th chord progression and it sounds like he goes from the open D to the E string and then the B instead of back to the G string. I've looked around and can't seem to find any lessons that do it that way. What do you think?
Brilliant Shane, another well constructed lesson. Love you Dog, so much like my Son’s Dog ‘Reggie’ who I look after a couple of days a week, same colour and ‘attitude’! What breed is He/She? Take care and best wishes from the UK. Alan.
Thanks Alan - glad you enjoyed and happy to have you here. Pup’s name is Jack. He’s about 2 and a half years old now. American Cocker Spaniel. Wonderful little guy. Cheers, Shane
@@GuitarAtWork Thank you you for replying Shane. Jack, the same name as my Son!! Take care. Alan.
Bit of a random one, but the missus asked me to learn Right Direction by En Vogue and I cannot figure it out. Seems like a nice acoustic guitar part!
Fun fun fun ;))
Very glad - happy to hear! Cheers, Shane
Shane can you get into the strumming thank you Sir....
Could you teach Magnolia Wind
Great suggestion Rick - thanks! Shane
0:23 Look how the dog's looking at him. As far as the dog's aware, the guy is talking to himself. You can see his expression. He's thinking 'my owner is as mad as a box of frogs.'
Your dog keeps looking at you like he doesn't believe you... :-)
Quite a decent tutorial for the intro. Unfortunately once again another tutorial on this song that claims you repeat the first part of the intro without explaining that you play the open D whilst sliding back to the 13/14 position on the B & E string creating a pause between the 1st and second note. Other than that short sharp and fairly accurate. 8/10
Love that song. Yes the short videos I can see more and understand what you are teaching. Its more to the point and I can understand you better. The beat buddy and the loop distracts me. There both good don't get me wrong but these little one on one is like sitting down and playing together. I enlarged my screen so I can see where your fingers were going as you went down the neck. I practice this and its much easier to retain. I would love to see more of these one on one with us. Like I said its like we are playing the song together. Keep the music coming. Would love to learn the The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald by Gordon Lightfoot.th-cam.com/video/9UnZ7aIdwBw/w-d-xo.html
Thank you Robert - great feedback. Very glad you like and I think I'll be doing more like this in between the more detailed videos I do every other week. Cheers, Shane
Edmones has easy cords asus4, Em, G,D Would like to hear the way you could teach us. I tried it along time ago but forgot that it was capo on 2nd fret. I would love to hear you play and teach it.
That can't be an open e at the end of the big cowboy lick sounds like an open d
It is an open D if I follow what you mean James. Cheers, Shane
Hey Shane, Your dog is looking at you like you lost your mind....
Ha! It’s totally true James - I think he was wondering who I was talking to. Cheers! Shane
Dog : Who is he talking to ?
