- Finger exercises are very useful for developing your guitar technique, but they can be time consuming, and, let's face it, they're not very musical. You won't use them in your playing.
Here is a simple hammer-on and pull-off exercise that will help develop both your technique and your rhythm, and can actually be used in your solos/improvisation.

Damian, really great video. I think these videos are incredibly useful especially when you try to revisit some of the skill drills to make sure it's being done correctly. I felt like I was sitting directly across from you receiving your usual high quality teachings. Cool guitar too!
Thank you very much. I'm glad you found it useful. Yes, the guitar is lovely. Michael Kelly "Patriot" with Bare Knuckle "The Mule" pickups. 🎸🔥
I am getting better at the finger exercises. I will have to employ the hammer/strike patterns as I am learning to improvise to my songs. Spider drill RULES!!!! Pentatonic scales are such a good tool to have.
Yes, pentatonic scales never stop being useful! Lol, I may have to practice the spider drill more, though.
I like the style of your teaching Damian. I think rhythm is key and turning that into clean playing so I can play with my heart is gonna help unlock things for me! Cheers!
Thank you so much. I really appreciate your comment. Yes, rhythm is absolutely key. In fact, check out the video I'm releasing today. It's all about the importance of rhythm, and how it pertains not only to chord comping, but also soloing/melodic phrasing. 🎸👍
Thank you for another Excellent lesson!
Thank you so much for watching. Glad you liked it. 😸🎸
Great video. Certainly a lot more fun to practice this way.
Thank you very much. Yes, exercises are useful, but not much fun to practice, and not very applicable to playing real music.
Great lesson! Thank you Damian 😊
Thank you so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed it. 🎸👍
This is very useful information. Exercises are always better when they can be directly applied to our playing.
Thank you. I totally agree!
BRILLLIANT ! ! !
Thank you so much! I'm glad you found it helpful. 🎸👍
Thanks Damian, excellent advice! This one develops your ear training, as well as finger strength/technique and rhythm precision. Awesome!
Thank you very much. I'm really glad you found it useful. 🎸👍
VERY kool lesson, Thank you GJ Best of luck and scaling to you.
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it. 🎸👍
Really clear--thanks!
Thank you so much for watching! 🎸🎸
Another great, very useful video. As always, very informative and useful information. These videos are excellent.
Thanks Damian!
Thank you for watching! I'm glad you found it useful.
Great elucidation of drills that can be fun and make true music, not just practice boredom.
Thank you very much. I'm glad you found it useful. 👍🎸
Great video. That's a nice guitar!
Hey, thank you so much for the comment. I do appreciate it. And yes, the guitar is a beauty. It's a Michael Kelly "Patriot," with Bare Knuckle "Mule" pickups. Not a super expensive guitar, but it plays and sounds terrific.
Lots of finger strength is needed for these practices. Still working on that!
Keep at it. You can do it!
Id like exercises that help in chording, cause my muscles need working if that makes sense.
Also, i wonder if there are exercises germaine to acoustic guitar.
Hi. I definitely think this exercise is appropriate for acoustic guitar.
As far as exercises for chording, are you working on open chords, barre chords, or more complex chords? Maybe I can suggest a couple of ideas, or even shoot a video about chord exercises specifically.
