  • One of the most common questions we are asked. There is a great deal of misinformation out there, particularly from certain states and territories themselves.
Make sure you understand the law and your rights to freedom of movement between the states and territories of Australia.

Karl, can I just take a moment and thank you for all the good you do for us visa holders. Most of the times it feels like these states are constantly after us, treating us like cattle for their own benefits but the service you provide by making these videos is just unthinkable. Also the timing of your videos are just in sync for when I need the information. Once again I thank you from the bottom of my heart and I wish you all the best. Hi Karl. I'm an admin for one of the biggest skilled migration groups in Facebook. I have been following your work for close to 4 years now. Although I personally do not use an agent for my visas, I have seen throughout the years your dedication to help, sharing of knowledge, your transparency and professionalism. This is why you're one out of two agencies I trust and recommend when people ask me for recommendations (although I don't tell them to refer my name to you). I want you to know that the way you and your associates present yourselves through these videos / your website, people including myself can tell you're genuine and that sets you apart from the rest. Keep doing what you're doing. Kudos.

Dear Karl, We are ever so grateful for your informative clarification on the subject. Like many others below we are uncertain whether moving away from the region that nominated us would have any implications in terms of 191 application. You mentioned that you have made a movie about this subject so I am diving to search for it now. Many thanks again for your commitment and support throughout the years.

Thank you Karl for empowering us to make decisions without being in constant fear. It's unfortunate that States have to result to bullying and intimidation to pursuade migrants to stay. I agree that fear is not the most strategic method to attract migrants, other incentives including tax benefits, housing affordability and other supports are equally important. Your videos are so inspiring thank you.

The golden ticket we have all been waiting for.
Out of interest, if you are offshore and are awarded the 491 Skilled Regional VISA, on your first entry into Australia, is there an obligation to fly in and report to the state that awarded the VISA, or can you settle at an eligible designated regional area of your choosing anywhere in the country?

Hello Karl, could you please help me with a few questions relating to 491-sbo QLD program, thank you very much
Currently I’m running a business which was previously purchased for 100k, and I have the intention to apply for QLD 491-sbo, I have a few questions hope to be cleared:
    - As mentioned by Migration QLD, I cannot relocate or sell the business before receiving QLD approval. Currently, the business is not doing so well, so I’m looking for opportunity to sell the business. Can I sell the business right from the moment I get nomination from QLD, or I have to wait for visa grant, which probably takes a further 6 - 8 months?
    - Migration QLD also mentioned that I need to operate the business for 3 years from visa grant, does it mean it must be the same business, if yes I found it’s contrary to what they mentioned earlier? Can I sell this one and relocate?
Once again, thanks for your time. I’d appreciate your response.

You are giving always good information.
we can move the state after the visa grant at 190 visas. And live in any metropolitan state for example Melbourne or Sydney. But they affect the future application such as
it could affect your Citizenship application in the future
it could affect your future visa applications to sponsor a spouse, etc, and your overall immigration history.

Now that 491 processing times have increased a lot (reaching up to 20+ months) Could you also clarify about the ones that have already received nomination/already applied for visa but have not yet been granted?
Would they also be free to move from the state that have sponsored them until they await to the visa grant to be process/outcome?

Thank you for your informative video.

Thanks for putting out such great content. It’s very informative and helpful. Thanks for the video. My question is, once your visa was granted, you travel to Australia within the year that you you were given in order to activate the visa and then you have up to five years to move to Australia. So, my doubt is what if you do not go to the state that sponsored you for whatever reason, lets say Queensland, while offshore you find one in Victoria and you stay there. The five years have passed and you have the chance to either apply to the Resident Return visa or Australian Citizenship, so what happens there, is the state that sponsored you involve in that process? Does the state have the power to block your citizenship application or resident return visa?
