Now, I'm second guessing whether I should return the X-T200 in favor of the X-T30. For a complete beginner, the X-T200 is perfect. It's simple to use, yet it alowes for fully manual operation and it has ''that Fujifilm feel''. You can learn digital photography with this camera, while you can still use automated functions to take pictures when you want to make things simple. The LCD is also touch screen and alowes for smartphone like experience. Lastly the X-T200 makes beautiful JPEG picutres with many of the popular Fujifilm film simulations and other features. You can also shoot in RAW and edit stuff later. I shoot JPEG+RAW.

Or do I absolutely need the 55mm F2 lens for portraits and that background blur?
The X-T200 is my least favourite Fujifilm model (I thought that was clear in this video). If you must have Fujifilm and want an inexpensive purchase, look for a used X-T20 - which would be a better choice. Same for the lens, it is a cheap plastic substitute for a real lens. Check the used camera market - lots of people buy entry level Canon cameras and never use them. (there are 3 numbers in the name). Again, the cheap kit lens isn't worth owning, but their 50mm primes are good as well as inexpensive. They should be able to take excellent portraits.

Thanks for the kind words. Both can be easy in the right hands. Depending on your interests, needs and proclivities, all of those could be good choices. I don't keep track of prices.
I'm thinking of buying my first semi prof camera. Struggling between the Fuji T30 Sony a6400 and maybe Nikon Z50. The only thing witch is holding me back is the weather and dust issue. Appreciate any advice✌️😎
Unless you are abnormally careless, accident prone or headed to sone inhospitable climate, I wouldn't give "weather sealing" a second thought. Any camera is weather-proof enough to withstand a day at the beach and a sprinkling of rain. No camera is weather proof enough under severe conditions unless extra precautions are taken. There is an industry standard for weather sealing (the IP - ingression protection -standard) No camera provides sufficient weather proofing to even be rated.
Is fuji xt200 good for cinematic video taking? And what's the size of the lens that comes with the kit?(am looking at third party lenses hence I need the size). Hope you'll reply soon :)
The X-T200 comes near the bottom of the list of cameras I'd consider for video. If you don't want a lens with the camera, buy body only. Any lens with an x-mount can be used on this camera.
I did loved the video, as it helped me a lot. Please, if possible, can you give me some advice? I am migrating from my Nikon D7000 to Fuji. At this time I am between the XT-200 and the XT-30 (less expensives than XT-3 or XT-4) and wish to know wich of them has the best results for low light (less noise for high iso). I like night shoots and some star shotings. Thank you very very much for your help.
The X-T30 offers higher ISOs, and the image quality at those settings is better than average. However, there are other cameras that offer better low light performance but I'm assuming they're out of your price range. Have you considered using a flash?
@@MaartenHeilbron The flash is not an option when taking night sky photos (stars). This is why I need to choose the minimum noise as possible. And yes, unfortunately the price is importante, at this time.
“[The x-trans sensor] should give the X-T30 the edge in color purity...” what does that mean? If the sensor in the X-T30 is anything like the on in the X-T2 (which is what I own), then it’s colors are probably worse than the X-T200. I base that of my knowledge of the X-T100 which I also own. Here is the thing that makes me say that: Color definition on smaller details are worse on the x-trans sensors I’ve used. They look more washed out and have a tint of the surrounding colors to them. The X-T100 produces much better results in this regard. I hope that did not sound too confrontational or something. I was just something that stuck out to me. I really like this video and how in depth you go. :)
It means that the pixel configuration of the X-Trans sensor has the potential to capture colour more accurately. I'm surprised by your comments, but of course, everyone's perception and appreciation of colour and colour accuracy is different.
Hi, Which camera is good, xt200 or Lumix g85. The best thing about g85 is ibis which is also good for lowlight where i can shoot at lower shutter speed with lower iso. But xt200 is apsc and has better lowlight quality. Also i don't take 4k vids nor im not into videography. Im buying either camera for social media purposes only and for printing. So which one is good?
Hello! I have a big question for you all. I can buy X-T200 kit with 15-45 lens for 650 USD(600 USD body only). And I can buy X-T30 body used for 700 USD. What should I do? It will be my first dedicated camera, I have GoPro 9 for quick videos, so I mainly interested in stills. What you can suggest?
@@MaartenHeilbron Thank you. I decided to wait for New Year and buy X-S10 instead. Totally forgot about that camera. Much better camera and more well rounded then X-T30 for my needs. Thank you for response.
@@reunmalba5367 They are both Sony sensors, the difference is the Bayer array vs X-Trans. There are some small differences, but colour reproduction is nearly identical. I notice more difference in the slightly higher contrast of the X-Trans.
Hi! I'm an architect and wish to use xt200 for my profession (interior photography, exterior views, streetscape, cityscape) as well as a hobby. Is it a better choice from DSLR? Is 15-45mm sufficient? Not considering XT 300 only due to budget constraints
@@MaartenHeilbron budget is my priority because I just want to keep track of site progress and some samples of interior views for my clients. I can compromise a bit on the quality part (for now).
@@TheSuved 1) It is not a better choice. It is an alternative choice. 2) No, you want a wider angle than 15mm for interiors. However, if the most important factor is the cost, then my guidance is likely not helpful. For this purpose I would recommend a full frame camera, as that will improve the selection and quality of lenses and make it easier to get the wide angle view you need.
Nice detailed review!!. I was surprised that XT200 iso starts 400 when shooting movie. and start iso 200 when take photos. Thanks to you, I found out there's iso 100 for photos with only jpg. Thanks.
Thanks Maarten, for the great (methodical) review and comparison. Would you recommend the X-T200 as a pocket/messenger bag camera for (a less seasoned amateur enthusiast's) daily use in multiple bright and low light situations? Currently a local seller has a special deal for a few days (~ 700 USD with the XC15-45mmF3.5-5.6 lens). Thanks and best regards.
@@MaartenHeilbron If I may ask further, would you mind recommending something else in the compact (below 1000 USD) category? Would it be better to invest in the X-T30 for an extra 400? Would Canon (G5x or G7x) or Sony ZV-1 or some of the offerings from Olympus be better choices? Fujifilm's X-T4 and X100V are currently out of my range. I hope to get one of those (or a comparable Nikon) as a main camera sometime next year. PS: I am currently outside of North America and B&H photos do not ship here. Thus my interest in the local dealer's discount. Even if the X-T200 is not your favorite, is it a bad choice? Please advise if possible.
@@AK-ou7it First, I would suggest that the plan to purchase an inferior camera this year and a better one next year is faulty. you tell about very similar image quality between X T30 and X T200 but they have different type of sensors - x-trans and bayer. it should influence on Image quality (i mean color science\shades). if we talk about this criterion what will be your choiсe and why?
I posted more photos on flickr - I leave it to you to examine them in detail. It should have an influence, but it's in Fujifilm's interest to make them as similar as possible. If there was a clear and obvious benefit to X-Trans, everyone would have transitioned, but.

@@robertrobert7631 Focus capability equivalent to Sony. Unlimited video recording along with improved overheating control. Fully swivelling screen. That's a personal preference, and I feel that I could tune either to provide the same results - however Sony's colour profiles and picture profiles offer much more capability than Fujifilm's film simulations and their limited fine tuning.
@@MaartenHeilbron 1. sony color science (c) is not appropriate meme for a6400? did you see difference between a6000 and a6400 in this criterion? sony color science is the most favorite theme of sony haters in internet, nikon makes photos with green tints, canon with yellow etc. maybe it's ridiculous but i noticed that 600d made photos with yellow tint a little bit and this is not info from internet but it's my personal observation. what do i mean? if you make photo with a6000 and other camera it will be two different photos with the same white balance

Nice detailed comparison. I don't understand why the XT30 has a 2.5mm mic jack - I have three mics and none of them have a 2.5mm. Reason enough for me to avoid this camera.
Really? Sounds like you're looking for excuses. There are better reasons to avoid it. Fujifilm does sell a mic with a 2.5mm plug, but adapters are inexpensive and readily available. The 2.5mm makes it compatible with Fujifilm's remote release, a functionality you don't find elsewhere.
I would not use either of these cameras for video or vlogging. Although the X-T200 seems suitable, it's short recording time and overheating make it less thank ideal.

Thanks for a lovely review. I have a question. Which is easier to use mirrorless or DSLR camera? Which camera do you recommend under 1000 usd? Or one of these camera Nikon d7500, d5600, Sony a6000, Sony a6300 and canon 250d ?

Looking to get a L style grip for the X-T200, any idea if the X-T accessories would work for it? Mainly looking to get a larger front grip.
No idea. Have you googled? Asked Fujifilm?
@@MaartenHeilbron I've browsed the web but haven't seen many that are specific to the xt200.
Dear Maarten, which one do you think is better for vlogging? The Sony zv-1 or the fuji xt200?
As the X-T200 overheats (did you watch the video?) I'd suggest the ZV-1.
Great video 😍👏🏼 I’m stuck between Fujifilm XT30 or Osmo pocket 2 , which one would you suggest for beginner in creating content?
The X-T30 is a real camera, with interchangeable lenses and a wide range of settings and features.
Im excited to buy a xt200 this september.thank you for the reviews
Have fun! Thanks for your kind words.
Hi,
Which camera is good, xt200 or Lumix g85.
Both are good. Don't set your expectations too high for stabilization. For better lowlight consider faster lenses or a tripod.
@@MaartenHeilbron which are the best faster lens that won't brake the bank for fuji
@@munawrsa The 23mmF2 seems a good choice.
Hello! I have a big question for you all. I can buy X-T200 kit with
15-45 lens for 650 USD(600 USD body only). And I can buy X-T30 body
used for 700 USD. What should I do? It will be my first dedicated
camera, I have GoPro 9 for quick videos, so I mainly interested in
stills. What you can suggest?
You should buy the X-T30, a substantially better camera - I thought that would be obvious in this video.
@@MaartenHeilbron Thank you. I decided to wait for New Year and buy X-S10 instead. Totally forgot about that camera. Much better camera and more well rounded then X-T30 for my needs. Thank you for response.
@@JeansUA Always nice to know my videos have been helpful, thanks for commenting.
Hi, Do you know if the X-t30 have HLG profile?
It does not.
I'm a beginner. I bought x-t200 with xf16mm 2.8 but I regret it (x-t30 , x-t200) How much difference is there in the quality of the picture?
Image quality is nearly identical, as they all have Fujifilm APS-C sensors.
@@MaartenHeilbron
x-t30 (x trans)
x-t200(sony sensor)
Is the color similar to the picture?
@@reunmalba5367 They are both Sony sensors, the difference is the Bayer array vs X-Trans. There are some small differences, but colour reproduction is nearly identical. I notice more difference in the slightly higher contrast of the X-Trans.
Hi! I'm an architect and wish to use xt200 for my profession (interior photography, exterior views, streetscape, cityscape) as well as a hobby.
Is it a better choice from DSLR? Is 15-45mm sufficient?
Not considering XT 300 only due to budget constraints
You must consider whether your budget or the quality of your images is most important to you.
@@MaartenHeilbron budget is my priority because I just want to keep track of site progress and some samples of interior views for my clients. I can compromise a bit on the quality part (for now).
@@TheSuved Then that should make your decision for you.
@@MaartenHeilbron still didn't answer my questions
@@TheSuved 1) It is not a better choice. It is an alternative choice. 2) No, you want a wider angle than 15mm for interiors. However, if the most important factor is the cost, then my guidance is likely not helpful. For this purpose I would recommend a full frame camera, as that will improve the selection and quality of lenses and make it easier to get the wide angle view you need.
Hello Maarten, Thank you for the video 👏 The Xt200 review in the relevant videos area goes to the XT30, check it
Checked and fixed! Thanks for the note.
Very meaningful and useful video for me. Thank you so much Sir 💓
Most welcome, I appreciate your kind words.

Fantastic video as always!
Thanks, always nice to read kind words.
Xt20 vs xt200,which should i buy as a begineer?
The X-T20 is the better camera
Thanks Maarten, for the great (methodical) review and comparison. Would you recommend the X-T200 as a pocket/messenger bag camera for (a less seasoned amateur enthusiast's) daily use in multiple bright and low light situations?
Currently a local seller has a special deal for a few days
(~ 700 USD with the XC15-45mmF3.5-5.6 lens).
Thanks and best regards.
Yes, although it's not my favourite, it's suitable for that purpose
@@MaartenHeilbron
If I may ask further, would you mind recommending something else in the compact (below 1000 USD) category?
If you want an inexpensive camera to try your hand, look for a used entry level Canon (Rebel or whatever they're called where you are) even new they're in the $500 dollar range). They may be older and not as full featured, but they will help you decide how much you enjoy photography.

you tell about very similar image quality between X T30 and X T200 but they have different type of sensors - x-trans and bayer. it should influence on Image quality (i mean color science\shades).
if we talk about this criterion what will be your choiсe and why?
I posted more photos on flickr - I leave it to you to examine them in detail. It should have an influence, but it's in Fujifilm's interest to make them as similar as possible. If there was a clear and obvious benefit to X-Trans, everyone would have transitioned, but.
@@MaartenHeilbron what are your wishes for the next x tX0 camera in all aspects? Do you have some complaints maybe?
Question #2: A6400 or x t30 if we talk about sooc jpeg?

I would disagree with that assessment, as the X-T200 has a Bayer sensor and the X-T4 has X-Trans. Although both are high quality, they are clearly not the same.
@@MaartenHeilbron well checking dpreviews studio scene comparison u can see that xa7 (xt200 same sensor) has abit sharper images but abit more noise than xt4,and xt4 has abit less noise but not as sharp images probably cos its applies abit more noise reduction at like 3200 iso
