Wanted to add some missing laptops that I should have included/wished I could include: Aorus 17X, Alienware X16, Alienware M16, Zephyrus Duo 16, Blade 16--this video focused mainly on the larger devices with the theoretical higher GPU TDP and mostly 17/18 inchers + a couple smaller laptops that compete well vs larger machines. I will have to do another video on the most powerful 16" laptops once I have tested a few more of them. I just don't have access to all the laptops I really want to be able to draw these comparisons.

Usually 4090 laptops are only 200--500 dollars more expensive. Tbh looking at a lot of data, it's actually worth more ptp (price to performance), so essentially the 4090 has better price to performance compared to the 4080 models e.g. Legion Pro 7i. I'm not talking about Razer and those $3500+ though.

Can I get your thoughts of the Asus ROG Scar 18 with the rtx 4090? Minus the coil whine because I'll probably play through it, it may go away on it's own, there might be a bios update that may fix it or it's probably the case of "not buying the first batch" and just waiting till later.

Scar 18 fans are fairly loud, but can get good performance in quieter fans if tuned right. I like the Scar 18 too, just wish it had the miniled the Scar 16 has.

Omen 17 or Legion Pro 7i for best value, though those do not have a 100% adobergb display, just 100% srgb.

Yes, neo was connected to water. I usually get good temps on my Blade 18

Hey @gizmo Can we remove the Battery or just unplug it and keep it inside , in case we gonna always or most of the time use the laptop pluged in (Electrical outlet) ? to save the battery life for whenever we are outdoors ?
Its best to save battery longevity by keeping it charged to 50%. If you unplug entirely, it will likely drain lower than 50% and damage the battery over time.
If you can, use the laptop control software to set it to 50-80%

I was in the same boat. I went for the blade 18. Its performance and quality is why I got it. Was close to getting the gt77hx for the screen but I realised I would end up running the game in 1440p so the 4k oled was pointless.

Hi to everybody. I have questions. Can you please advise me/ help me to choose between MSI GT77 4090 & Asus ROG Strix 18” but with 4080. I’m in big need to know how big difference between them. I need laptop for games & watching movies. Thanks.
The Strix G18 is a great laptop for the money, though the speakers are not as good if you are planning on watching movies without headphones. If you want a better audio experience for movies the Legion Pro 7i did well in that department for the price, the Legion Pro 5, not so much. The GT77 would be an amazing movie watching experience for 4K movie content, though it will be large to keep in your lap. The Blade 18 would be a better fit for speakers and some portablity, though the downward firing speakers make the Blade18 audio inconsistent in bed on my belly. Awesome audio on a table though.
Honestly, the best movie watching experience is an iPad with the new keyboard stand from Apple. The iPad 12.9" literally just hovers in front of your face and the audio is better than any gaming laptop currently (yes, better than the Blade 18, by a bit, though not a huge margin). But a laptop is more versatile product if you just want to be able to do everything with a single device.

Scar 16/18 performance should be essentially identical. The scar 16 had more updated drivers and slightly better performance, which is why I used the Scar 16.
What's surprising? 16 inch has Nebula screens, 18 inch doesnt.

You can go HIDEvolution especially if you are interested in their warranty service or extra features like a repaste job or monitor checks for dead pixels. But overall, I am unlikley to buy from them again simply because their price is a little higher than most retailers prices.

Yeah I saw the price when I finished putting in the configurations I wanted which added up to $6000, but as someone staying way outside of the U.S, I don't mind as I'm coming from a HP Pavilion 15 and this is going to be my first official gaming laptop. Plus the 2 yearwarranty, the thermal paste job, screen calibration and not to even mention they'll undo the raid 0 for you and I can get an 8tb SSD(4TB AND 4TB as I want to go into content creating and gaming)

The HP Omen 17 4090 seems to be doesn’t have that lower price point like you said anymore. I’ve checked their website and the price even higher the legion pro 7i for the same specs
But why so?
It all depends on if the base specs are sold out or not. When HP sells out of a baseline spec, the option disappears and the baseline price increases.

In the UK it's looking like the Legion wins for price - under 3k for 4090 with 1tb sad and 32gb. Whereas the HP is 3.7k.

Not sure if you said this, but I've only seen one reviewer that dares to speak it... but I'd like to hear a ballpark fair price for a 4090 laptop... just say "around $3,500" or whatever... it doesn't need to be exact. Say "if you can find this for under $3,000, snag it". Reviewers seem to be getting as afraid as doctors worried about malpractice (talking about possibilities of death), if they talk about actual costs. I neeeeeed to know! That one reviewer that mentioned the pricing, I subscribed.
Prices shift so fast, ans youtubers like making their content timeless, so not mentioning specific costs helps. I deal in specific costs a lot. If you can get a 4090 for around $2700 or so in Legion Pro 7i or Omen 17, thats the best value-although not the most premium 4090 option out there

G14 miniled is 600 nits, so not as bright, but still an excellent display with high contrast. M16 has brighter display, but isnt as portable.
What about Asus Zephyrus Duo 2023?
why wasnt the msi raider ge78hx and asus rog scar 18 placing the scar 16 to give fairer performance tests?
Scar 16 actually performed better than the Scar 18 due to driver updates. The GE78 i have is a 4080 version, so not apples to apples performance to these 4090

I just bought the mercury razer blade 18 rtx 4090 ☺️
I have a gt77 4080 titan. My reasoning for that purchase was that I wanted the best cooling for longevity. I had a bad experience with an Alienware m15 r4 before the upgrade. Ran too hot. 4090 models for 1k more didn’t seem worth it to me with most 4k titles needing DLSS frame gen anyway on both cards to be playable at high frame rates. I use a high refresh 1440p gsync monitor - and with Optimus off I really enjoy performance across the board as a desktop replacement. I bring my laptop to work every day and really enjoy all the other nice features of the 77. In a couple years when next gen GPUs really can hammer 4k, maybe I’ll consider a next upgrade. But 2k gaming is the performance sweet spot with the 4080/90 cards to date. I chose the monitor over the 4090 upgrade expense for the lack of gsync and limiting HTZ.
Also I’d like to include on a 4080 GT77 I was still getting a timespy score up to 19,500. Not a huge performance gap to the 90 for me

@@Dawg99999 eh 1k more for 15% better gpu performance. Not really needed if I’m using DLSS in all my 4k games. 1440p has no real major impact between the two GPUs
legion 7i pro is good get the 4080, the 4090 is not worth it, unless you have no need for the ir sensor or finger print the legion is better than most@@Samdevay

I'm in market to buy my first gaming laptop. Im I'm debating between. 2023 msi gt 77 4090 titan or the. Amd 4090 asus scar 17 2023. I want most powerful don't care abut Mobility.
Scar 17 is more value for the money, but screen is biggest difference between those two. Thr GT77 mini led is much brighter, but has slight ghosting, so not as good for e-sports.
about Oasis drain. Well i never drain it :D i buyed abs case ( like for weapon or profesional tools) and move it in case :D everyday to work ,no need to unscreew tube, drain or nothing. Same with laptop it self never drain it :D no problems (yes instructios sayed its RECOMENDET) and last think 6400 MHz ram well. I get mine 2x16 GB Hybix 5600 cl 46 to 6400 cl 46 with no problem on 1.2 volts :D and UV is HUGE -150/-100/-100 in my model. Im now addicted to silence when im gaming on laptop :D. Like always great video cant w8 for another. CPU on overboost in stress CINEBENCH r23 and furmark avr 80W and 92 C gpu 175 W and 72 C with NO fanboost .

Used my XMG Neo 17 with 4090, 32GB 5600mhz and Cherry MX Keys for a week since I got it for 3719€ thanks to the Caggtus Deals they have.
Very nice performance out the box didnt undervolt or anything, the fans arent that loud at least to me.
You can set may things in the Control Center, like Maximum CPU Temperature which is very nice if you dont want to get it in the 90+c range but still output very nice performance.
Very quiet while idling, while comparing to the x370 I had before, which had many problems and then I returned it, this is just like a whole another world of quietness.
Always repeated your video of the Neo while waiting for it to arrive, it was so worth it.
I watch reviews of tech products too while waiting for my order to arrive lol!

Went looking at specs on their sites. The HP Omen maxes out at an i7 13700HX? It doesn't even offer an i9... that's unexpected and a deal breaker.

No chance bruh, this year 4090 only equal to the 3090ti from last generation, the 4090 desktop variant smokes this 4090 laptop (4080 desktop but with less power).
They arent close, laptop 4080 still cant match an undervolted 4070 Ti, and 4080 beats 4090M by 20% percent, that's quite a gap.

I would disagree if it isn't on sale, or if both the Omen 17 and Legion Pro 7i are on sale at the same time. But I would agree if the Legion Pro 7i is on sale, and the Omen 17 is not. Then definitely the Legion Pro 7i in that scenario since it would actually be cheaper than the Omen 17.

Couldn’t get them all in this one video. Aorus 17x too. I will have to do an updated version of this video in the future. And I am sure others in theory like the Alienware M16/X16 and others… i do wish I had been clearer on this. I will need to make a pinned comment.

And for the dying light duo bug.. the reason there was sudden low fps was due to the fact that 2nd screen is directly connected with integrated gfx. So the moment duo option is selected system is confused as 4090 is pushing 1st screen and integrated is pushing 2nd screen. Technical fault.

Imo the best value is getting 4080 instead of 4090.

One mistake in yout review is that the Legion pro 7i is not FULL metal build. Technically the keyboard deck is plastic which is a downgrade from the 2022/2021 variants those of which are FULL metal build especially the 2022 version which i think the most premium legion flagship ever made. They also cut down all the premium features to lower the price, you can check Jarrod’s tech channel for comparison to the 2022 version.
Nobody cares about what they downgraded, it is still a bad ass laptop in its own right. People gotta let this go and focus on what it provides today vs cost.

@@thaibinh6585 cheers, if it's important to you then it matters. To me having Titan performance at $2k less was the biggest factor. Everyone knocks the legion this year, but it is definitely better built than the scar (I owned both for a solid week to compare), yet nobody faults the Scar.

why you don't focus on quality? what is the point of buying a high voltage rgb lamp that stops working in 1 year? you should compare the quality of motherboards, durability, port connectivity quality, heat solution, motherboard design, electrical interferes, spill, shock, and voltage tests. what is the point of talking about kid things?
Alienware bad temperatures are not due to bad paste job. Year after year their temperature are terrible. They have one of the worst build in the market for a few years now.
Why on earth would someone care about "smallest package" when comparing freaking 4090 17-inch laptops? Come on... It's still gonna be a pain in the ass to transport anyway, might as well just take it, who cares... At that point I want the biggest beefiest one that will probably have the best thermals and therefore the longest lifespan.
The Blade 18 is not a pain to transport. Fits into smaller backpacks and doesn't take up nearly as much volume, and really, it isn't that much heavy than most 16" laptops, especially since the power adapter is much smaller and lighter weight than most power adapters this year. I go to tech conferences and walk around filming literally 14 hours straight. I don't think I could do that with the GT77 as easily as the Blade 18 since the GT77/Scar 18/Alienware M18 would require a larger back pack than my filming bag allows (literally sticks out the side because the zipper can't close.). So that's why I consider the Blade 18 more portable than most of the 17/18" laptops out there.
I actually used to have a Clevo that weighed 13 lbs + 2x huge power bricks with a desktop six core CPU when laptops didn't have more than 4 cores typically. It was awesome, but it killed my back taking that sucker to classrooms during college. I would have no problems hauling the Blade 18 all day back in college by comparison, so I am very appreciative of the amazing power we now have in such smaller packages. It's nuts.

2023 was the year of the high and low end 40 series. mid tier was overpriced and not good value. prolly cause next year we will get the 4070TI versions
