As a fellow maker, I hear ya on the grand caravan, don't knock em till you try em! I have 184,000+ miles on my 2010 and I've hauled more things in that thing than most people do in their trucks. I haul lumber, firewood, minibike, plywood/drywall, boulders for my backyard pond build, table saw, my 3 kids, etc.... those stow and go seats are great, haul the kids one minute and haul some gear the next minute. Price was right when I bought it back in the day. Anyway, nice video and build! Sorry for the minivan rant, they get a bad rap and everybody makes fun of em until they have one 😉
Man I totally agree . I hauled a 45'' wide 13 horse snowblower in mine . I've had 3 whitewater kayaks inside with myself and the other 2 paddlers , I once hauled 1600lbs of laminate flooring in it which was maybe a bit much I've camped in it . it has 320,000 miles and I keep thinking I should get another vehicle soon and all I can think is its going to have to be another grand caravan lol
@blackspruce1861 heck yeah man. I can't believe you hit 320,000, that's awesome! Last time I was changing my oil I noticed the frame is rusting pretty good (Pennsylvania winters and salt on the road, which I'm sure you know what I'm talking about up in Michigan). I'm still surprised they stopped making the grand caravan back in 2019. I'm more than likely getting another one too. Anyway, keep up the videos and getting your money's worth out of that mini van!
Hey fun content. I like, No frills, Waiting for more. You need a bucket of sawdust and a scoop in there. Throw a scoop in and nooooo smell and it decomposes .
Ryan, love the repurposed log siding outhouse. I pay attention to the little things that you do that makes the place classy. Very kool, hope to see more projects! Enjoyed the video!
Wow, this turned out incredible. Great design, great planning, fantastic video with tips and helpful hints! Oh and the dog is fun. Love to see the dog antics!
Ryan this turned out very nice indeed! Get your dog an excavator & let him / her dig! The thing about outhouses you have to consider 1) Location 2) Comfort 3) Ventilation 4) Lights 1) Location - looks like a good spot 2) Comfort - looks about the right size, not too small. Air Spray, plenty of T.P., adult wipes & lime, for decomposing waste. $8 toilet seat, hey as long as your wife is happy. 3) Ventilation - looks like you might need more. How about adding a Solar Powered Exhaust Fan & maybe a timer? 4) The clear panel roof is great, consider solar lights outlining your outhouses location & a 12 volt light inside for those midnight trips out. Hey if the wife isn't happy....
Love your builds! Those were some scary cuts on the table saw though. Maybe make a little jig and / or stand to the side next time in case it kicks back? Keep up the great work
Thanks !! thats for sure I really do push it with the table saw sometimes ,and I really should know better lol . years ago I was finishing my first house and making a stupid little notch cut on the table saw it shot that piece out so hard it gave me a huge bruise on my side and broke my truck topper window that was probably 20 feet behind me . some people never learn lol
Well, that’s an awful nice place to go when ya gotta go! Great job with the cash, I could hardly believe it, that’s probably the best part. Absolutely loved the dog and the digging, pretty funny!
Well you 2 bros are remarkable lads. I love your channels and the simplicity along with ingenuity is so incredible to watch. Great work Ryan. I'd be more than happy to be busy on your throne, sir. 🇦🇺🤗👍✌️👏💞🙏🇺🇲
thanks but his has much more room . I built with these scrap logs because they were free and I thought it would look cool but they were so short that it had to be a small building . it looks nice and works but kinda cramped lol
No wreszcie jest kibelek 😉Niewielu budowniczych chat w swoich filmach ujawnia ten aspekt swojej działalności, a przecież możliwość załatwiania swoich potrzeb fizjlogicznych w cywilizowanym miejscu to podstawa. Na samą myśl o kucaniu pod krzaczkiem robi mi się słabo😉 Jak zwykle całość dokładnie przemyślana i super wykonana. Mój angielski jest bardzo słaby, ale i tak uwielbiam oglądać Pana filmy. Pozdrawiam 🙂
Thanks!! I’m not really worried about it no . They’re treating ground contact wood and it’s Sandy good draining soil I think it should last quite a while
Hi, did not realize I didn’t ring the bell for any videos so I am watching them all now. Lol. Question, how are you able to build the outhouse with a hole? I am in Michigan also, close to you area, I think, and my township is not allowed? I have a port a Jon that I would love to get rid of the service call on$. Any advice? Enjoy your videos and look forward to many more😀
a good friend of mine put a septic tank in at his cabin built an outhouse on it basically a vault toilet you would still have to have it pumped but no rental fee . but as far as legality I have no idea
Great video Ryan ! I knew you had some talent when Dave had u on his channel for his outhouse build ! Most important building on the property ! Lol. Seeing all that sandy soil made me wonder if your camp is anywhere near Dave’s ? I know he said it’s really sandy up north. Take care bud
Thanks ! it sure is! no I would love to get some property in that area one of my favorite places but its probably something that will have to wait a while. you too ! and im really happy you're enjoying the channel
Good morning buddy how are ya? That’s is one classy out house hehehe. I like how ya prebuilt it got it all figured out before you hauled out to the property. It takes for thought on how ya want to build it. Good job buddy. Looking forward to any and all videos you produce. By the way what camera and editing software do you use. I’m thinking of starting a (sawmill/ build it) channel. God bless you and yours.
Why build an outhouse in the middle of nowhere? I don't get its purpose? Or am I missing something.? Great video though 👍 another quick question, don't these things smell really bad, I mean it's basically just pooping in an open hole over and over again.?
So the idea of going out there in the freezing cold is a hard pass. Anyway to put some heat out there? The seat has to be ice cold in the winter. Are you putting lye in the hole? How are you dealing with that? I know they have stuff to break down the waste. What about a composting toilet inside the cabin? The moon and tree probably bring in cold, maybe polycarb on the inside to keep the cold out?
@@blackspruce1861 You would have to remind me where, but my guess is probably not. I've lived in Wisconsin all my life. I am enjoying your videos though! Been watching your brother for quite some time now. found you through him.
Until you see a 6ft rattler coiled around your seat. I grew up with an out-house and l cannot tell you how many times we found rattlers in there. Not Good.
A word to the wise. Put screen over the moon and tree to keep snakes out. Cement any crawlie holes around the house bottom. You have not lived until you gotta
How is that thing so beautiful? When you build something, you really build it!
lol ! thank you !

That dog is a riot! Used to have a lab that would dig like that.

yup a good outhouse is peaceful
what a lovely dog!
thanks ! he's been a lot of fun to have around
You build back houses like a Downeaster from Maine. Frugal and effective. Enjoy your builds. Keep 'em coming
Thanks! frugal was the name of the game on this one. will do!
That looks great! When we built ours, we put in a vent pipe. Does anyone else do that?
I could see where it would be a good idea

I want to see some updates on your cabin love the style
I definitely plan to do a cabin update video . there are few things I want to add so it might be a little bit
How deep do you dig the outhouse hole, and do you eventually have to move the outhouse to another location, or does it somehow naturally compost?
I think its around 4 and a half to 5 feet it hasn't seen a ton of use because this is just a getaway cabin , but you would eventually have to move it
If ever come to Route 66 in Northern Az. Swing by And you can throw me one up real quick LoL. Nicely done.
Lol so sorry way to hot for me to build there. Thanks
And again it's my pleasure to enjoy your video. Greetings from Germany ... Christian K

me too!! he' so much fun!
Nice work, maybe a TP roll holder.
it's in a coffee can for now so mice don't get it
Hey this looks amazing! also how long on average does it take to do projects like this?
Thanks ! this took a little while because ripping the logs in half with the table saw is slow . if you used normal materials probably a day
Thank you 💞
you are very welcome ! glad you enjoyed
More amazing work ..My question is what did u put underneath the tolit sit for the waste? And can creatures get in there? I'm terrified of snakes
a hole in the ground . I don't think that really a normal place to find snakes they shouldn't be a problem

Looks good! No reason the same type of approach with the ripped log siding couldn't be used on a woodshed or similar structure, either.
Thanks ! yeah it would definitely work but I wouldn't want to use 2 foot pieces lol

probably between 75 and 100 feet

Next time you might want to borrow Dave's sawmill to rip the logs to save time and effort.
