The Lasers were being shot directly at Luffy's head. But that isn't the point. Luffy didn't just dodge those wildly, he used observation haki to wait at the last second to dodge them. In other words he knew exactly when they'd reach him and moved at that exact second in VERY short intervals. And Sanji (at the time) was thought to have better control of observation haki.
Yes, and Luffy did it with his eyes closed lmao.

Even Lee may be stronger in his Eight Gate form, he isnt a sensory ninja so he wouldnt be able to locate a target that moves so fast and also can turn invisible as Sanji.
Sanji could just turn invisible and let Lee waste his temporal power boost to win the fight.
PD: Might Guy managed to greatly injure Madara .... with the help of Minato, Kakashi, Gaara and Lee. Without them and Madara´s overconfidence, he wouldnt have gone that far.
5:35 aw~ but you see: he did dodge. as they explained later a strong universal power only controlled by the few who know of it called "Haki" is in play. the ability to read your opponent's every move and dodging said attacks is just one of 3 the Sanji can use, even if he is better than the basic one: Observation Haki. the ability is so great that if a User is trained well and long enough in battle they can see in the future to a degree, like seeing moments play out minutes before it happens. so Luffy isn't just dodging them: he is reading the attacks, seeing how fast they are coming and dodges those actions before anything happens.
it's like the Spider Sense.
If it were a race your view on the speed feat would have more water, but in a fight simply moving a limb or a part of your body is a legit reaction feat.
Sanji has gotten WAYYYYYYYY stronger after this episode of Death Battle came out. As a matter of fact he himself he himself destroyed his raid suit be cause he's just that much stronger without it. Sanji has got a Wolverine style exoskeleton and healing factor, he was able to regenarate most of his broken bones and internal organs in seconds, his Diable Jambe got uppgraded to Ifrit Jambe a blue fire with electric plasma comming out of his leg, his kicks are strong enough to send one of the lead commanders of the most powerful creature in the One Piece word flying miles away with just a single kick. He can also turn invisible with his sheer speed.
Just to clarify, the Broly they focused on is the Dragon Ball Super version (frequently agreed to be the better one).
True, and the original one plus Kale was used for more information to back up the new Broly, because the new one was only in 1 movie.
So far I wanna say that Ris has gotten every Death Battle correct.
I got Miles VS Static wrong, and the Seven Battle Royale (if you wanna count that). But...this season, at least, those are the only ones that jump to mind! So yay!

The one thing that annoys me about this fight is that Lee gets upset with Sanjis food. Like lee likes all food. I dont really care who won, but that detail really bothered me
I was underwhelmed with this episode when it came out because I wanted Sanji on death battle for years. The analysis for Sanji left so many of his best feats out.

The next ones the s7 Finale. But I think you should also know hulk vs broly is the 10 year anniversary episode! Nearly 10 years ago when it released boba fett vs samus aran came out! S8 is a little different in the Matchup selection since it's dedicated to celebrating 10 years with all 16 episodes having some form of history whether it be a popular request, a classic schoolyard debate, or a returning character coming back
Fights Started over food this season: 5
#4 was Red Hood vs Winter Soldier but I forgot to write a comment, and TECHNICALLY it wasn't directly interrupted, but kinda was still.
Honestly, this was a really close fight and for this being my very first One Piece win even though I should've had it when Zoro beat Erza but I ended up rooting for the latter in that one but hey I got one with Sanji.
Well here you are, you made it to the Season 7 Finale and that means you will be hitting Season 8 pretty soon which there's a lot of bangers in that one but one thing I should mention about how they are using Broly, given that he has a good amount of movies to look at, the primary source for him is the one that appeared in the 2018 movie, Dragon Ball Super: Broly as that is the official canon for Broly whereas his appearance in original movies from 1993 is supporting material for him. With that, I will be back for your reaction to the Season 7 Finale next week.
The way they used Broly seemed weird to me. As someone who isn't a Dragonball fan and hasn't seen any of his movies i didn't get too good of a grasp of his character and i've been told that his Z depiction is very diffrent from his Super depiction in terms of personality. Kinda reminds me of how they handled characters in earlier seasons such as putting a lot of focus on Kirby Right back at ya! when talking about Kirby or in DK vs Knuckles where the supposed stupidity of both characters is taken exclusively from how they were depicted in cartoons (while i don't know DK well enough to know how accurate being that dumb is to his game self, even i as someone who hasn't played a single DK Country game could tell pretty easilly that every example they used of DK being an idiot was taken directly from the cartoon, and it's even worse in Knuckles' case because i actually know that that isn't what he's like in any continuity other then Sonic Boom despite what the internet likes to think of him).
One thing about the animation that I didn't like was Sanji telling Lee that he'd make him cough up all the food he ate. For Sanji appreciating and finishing your food is part of his character, so long as it's edible he'd make you finish the food whether you like it or not.
Also it's weird how they word Luffy dodging the lasers like as if it's purely a reaction feat when in truth it was a demonstration of Luffy's Observation Haki so he timed those lasers.
Actually, didn't they say that Luffy dodging those laser was a movement speed feat? In the end analysis, they said: "To pull this off, Luffy would've had to move 13 times faster than light." Nothing about reaction
Also, it would still count as a speed feat. Observation Haki allowed Luffy to predict the lasers, but he still had to dodge

someone predicting a bullet doesn't make them as fast as a bullet. The same logic applies to lasers especially at such a distance, plus it's hard to figure out how fast the laser actually since they always appear slower than any laser in our world and only by statements do we have to believe it.
@@tldoesntlikebread It was confirmed the lasers were moving at light speed. Luffy may ahve seen them coming with observation haki but it still takes some serious reaction speed to dodge light speed ANYTHING

Ris, if you read this, Hulk vs Broly is one of my most wanted matchup several years ago, so I'm hype about this, you might gonna love this fight, and remember: Dragon Ball Z Legendary Super Saiyan movie (where Broly was in) are not canon, Dragon Ball Super Broly is canon, but here's a fun: Death Battle release Hulk vs Broly (in YT) on December 28, get this, that was Stan Lee's birthday (Co-creator of Hulk and Marvel)! :D

Yeeeeeah~ not gonna spoil anything if you ever get into One Piece but let's just say: nearly a year since this videos release, Sanji got a pretty big boost in power/durability without the Raid Suit. grant it, both fighters can still get stronger since Boruto isn't over and One Piece is coming to a end in creator's, Oda, own words but still Rock Lee has barely beaten he's own foes, a lot of them that are are from filler and the biggest feat i swear is from a movie, not to say Sanji's being compared to Zoro's isn't either but hey: If Zoro is able to cut Pica who was on size terms with larger meteorites and Sanji is able to square up to him: who am i to judge.
but yeah the fight might be a bit outdated even more so now a days.
of course comparing Sanji to Luffy and Lee or Naruto is hard to compare since Naruto was on a much higher level than pretty much anyone in the series (even more so than the guy who only kicks/punches really hard) while Luffy isn't exactly the absolute beast of the OP world and Sanji is at least on par with him to a degree.
I mean, I wouldn't call it outdated if the result is "The guy who won wins even more now."
@@comicking428 well I'm just saying that he wouldn't have lost that leg Lee broke. hell, Lee may not have even left a mark at all.
@@crcoghill Not really as entertaining if there's no tension or close calls. If we went by that logic a lot of DBs would end with the loser not getting a hit or making much of an impact on their foe, which sucks for anyone who's a fan of them. Even with Sanji's current stats they'd still probably portray the fight similarly to how they did here.
@@comicking428 i just think Rock Lee would have trouble hitting him or doing damage. the fight could go on as long as the original, i just the the outcome would be different.

Remember what you said about Batgirl vs Spider-Gwen and how someone spoiled it to you? Well, the same thing happened to me with this next timey where i was debating about the outcome and then one overenthusiastic fan of the winner (not gonna spoil anything for you) who saw it before i did basically told me something among the lines of "Ha, suck it, this guy won!". I think you can relate to how much it sucks when someone spoils an outcome for you like that.

Funny; Sanji refuses to punch because it "dirties his hands," but he's perfectly fine touching used cigarettes and the ground.
I think it's more so he doesn't want to risk damaging his hands where the ground is nowhere near as dangerous as his opponents.

Many of death battle voices differ from the original depiction.
Lee's voiced by RDCworld1, who's a very popular black anime youtuber. So if Lee sounded "very black", that's why.
He's just saying he didn't associate that voice with Lee from the anime
The writer of Naruto set up these characters with no pay off im soo disappointed what he did with Lee, Neji, ect.
First of all, they undermined sanji’s capabilities immensely here and highballed and gave what if feat to rock Lee which is complete bs. Even then, this version of Sanji would low diff rock Lee and now that Sanji has gotten so much stronger in the manga, Sanji no diffs.
Most of the time, they really downplay a character.
Even before the ifrit jambe and the exoskeleton feat that Sanji got, his armament haki is really durable.
Sure we've seen his bone crack when he was fighting Vergo, but we didn't see him use haki at that time. And somehow his legs didn't react on it afterwards.
And with the raid suit? I just don't think Sanji should've lost his leg on this battle. But still, he won, so I guess I'm happy. Lol
I agree with the result, however, I still really dislike this episode. The animation was just as bad as Batgirl vs Spider-Gwen, if not worse, and both Sanji and Lee were super out of character. One of the worst episodes in the whole show in my opinion.
My only problem was the lack of detail for the analysis, I needed to have more understanding of Sanji’s superiority.

Yeah, the general consensus is this is a weak episode in comparison to episodes before it, as well as many that followed.
It's fair to say that Lee "sounds black" here, as his voice actor in the battle IS black. He does more or less sound like that in the dub, just... not black.
