Kingdom Hearts is one of those series that really sounds like it started with a sentence that began "Wouldn't it be cool if..."
Well, it was proposed in a literal elevator pitch..... so you're not far off there.
They DID say it was Roxas's heart.... but said heart came in a brand new Replica body that it carried with it the entire trip and was supposedly just as capable as Roxas's original body was. So from their logic it checks out..... this was toward the end of KH3 btw.
For elaboration on the Zeus thing.... at the start of KH3, Zeus was getting pinned by the Rock, Ice, and Storm Titans... which then became a boss fight for Sora.
Well, Kill La Kill is almost like Devil May Cry, with red vs blue.
Get this though, Ris, Ryuko is Shadow's favorite anime character.
He mentioned it on Sonic takeover Twitter.
It's actually canon.
I FINALLY CAUGHT UP TO EVERY REACTION SINCE DEAN CAME BACK....
This death battle in particular I liked due to how light hearted it felt. Not only that the ending was funny in my opinion.

I was a little surprised they used Mickey if only because he doesn't have a ton of feats attributed directly to him even though he can be compared directly to other wielders of similar power who do have a ton of feats (for instance Sora).
I'll answer a few of your questions. Kingdom Hearts spoilers below in case that bothers anyone (I'll try to keep it brief)
18:50 That use of the Stopza spell (Tier 4 [which is high level] localized time stop magic) they mentioned and showed at 11:21 was notable because each of the 12 enemies present, 11 of whom he successfully held in Stop for the duration of a boss battle, were "final boss" level foes or in other words were each individually at least as powerful as Mickey if not way more so. In gameplay but perhaps not lore most bosses of any caliber had historically been immune to such magic.
18:24 The person targeted by the spell is significantly more powerful than Mickey and as you can see at 11:30 successfully countered Ultima with his own Stopza spell resulting in no damage to the pillar.
13:26 In earlier games where Sora is far, far below Mickey's level he not only regularly faces his friend Herc in official competitions but he's also defeated Hades himself in such a competition in his very first adventure and in his second he defeated Hades in a proper fight within his own Underworld where Hades is supposedly immortal/untouchable and all Heroes are cursed to be "zeroes". Sora's also beaten the Titans both individually as early as his first adventure and is pictured here 13:27 defeating all of them at at the same time despite being in a weakened state relative to his then Mickey comparable power. And those are only the feats from Olympus.
24:19 To drastically oversimplify: Roxas' Heart travelled to that mentioned distant world, possessed his physical body which was there, and then his Heart and Body now together traveled back all without a vessel and in a matter of seconds.
19:15 Sora. Not sure about others off the top of my head.
- I kinda feel like the x-blade's explosion could've been enough of a feat to scale with, considering how far out into the Lanes Between it launched Mickey and his two allies. Then again, the Titans ARE able to match with the Olympians, and Sora has often matched with them (in KH and KH3), so...
- Oh, uh, the x-blade is a sword that acts as a key to Kingdom Hearts, the heart of all worlds. It inspired the creation of the Keyblades that everyone uses. Xehanort has made to attempts to forge new x-blades by making Keyblade wielders clash.
- The quickness feat, I think, applies more to Xemnas (leader of Organization XIII, and Terra-Xehanort's* Nobody), who had to dodge Roxas's entry (which was more likely from Radiant Garden's "lifeboat" devices or whatever). Mickey and co. ARE able to fight at equal paces with Xemnas, though, so it still fits.
- There is a bit of misinterpretation regarding Heartless. They're actually creatures made of darkness that trap hearts. Whether or not they behave to their hearts' will depends - but if Sora and Ansem (and maybe Scar) are any indication, those hearts would have to be pretty strong.
- I'm still shocked that the battle itself didn't make use of Stopza. Then again, I guess that would've been overkill.
- Anyhoo, Mickey Mouse vs. Bugs Bunny is planned for some future episode, and I imagine they'll be using literally everything at their disposals - which would mean they'd so evenly matched (given toon force immortality and all), the little differences will really matter.
* Um...right. Xehanort's heart and soul took over the body of a young man named Terra, and that amalgam got split into the Heartless "Ansem" and the Nobody "Xemnas". Xehanort came back together when Ansem and Xemnas were defeated (post-KH2), making their "essences" come back together, essentially. So did Terra, kinda, but his heart was still trapped in a Heartless, and his soul was somewhere else and not in this mix - so Xehanort used a sliver of his own heart to sorta "re-possess" his body for the upcoming events. Errr...do you want me to explain the whole thing about injecting heart slivers into others?

reason for the next matchup:
shadow was asked on twitter if he liked any anime. and he answered Kill la Kill, saying he basically has a crush on Ryuko
S8 is the 10 year anniversary season. Each matchup has a reason to happen. For this one, Ben has joked about both being banned for years. So this was fitting since they've they have been talked about for so long.
As for shadow vs ryuko, there's surprisingly a lot of similarities between them in their stories. The legacy being the crew loves kill la kill and has wanted to introduce it for years. As for Shadow, he's been on twice, once in S1 against Vegeta. In S3 against Mewtwo. With this being the most popular request for both.
Shadow vs Ryuko is a very special fight. After two humiliating losses to Vegeta and Mewtwo, Shadow tries to redeem himself, but he has to kill his favourite anime waifu. Will he be emotiomally prepared? Find out next time on Ris Grestar's DB reactions.

Yeah it's tricky to have direct feats for characters who are powerful but only seen fighting a few times.

Season 8 is famous in my opinion for a good amount of reasons, but my favorite is the season 8 shots. there's always one shot in the fight that everybody virtually agrees is the best or one of the best parts of it. So remember if you see a part that sticks with you, that is why.
That must have been tough for Ben, I mean Wiz, to accept the outcome, being the Star Wars fan he is
So fun thing about the next battle is that sonic Twitter does a day where they have the voice actors come in and awnser fan questions and this was Shadows favorite Anime character
Ok first things first, nice picture of Yoda that you used for your thumbnail, that face is hilarious. XD
Now for my actual thoughts on it, this is a good start to Season 8 and I was actually surprised that Yoda ended up fighting King Mickey like a lot of people wanted the former to fight Meta Knight from Kirby but yeah, I am glad they stuck with just Kingdom Hearts' version of Mickey Mouse since his classic cartoon counterpart is going to be fighting against Bugs Bunny from Looney Tunes at a later date most likely in 2024 when Mickey becomes public domain but all and all, it was a good fight and Season 8 gets more hyped as we go on.
Next Time: When I saw that Ryuko was going to be fighting Shadow cause like Yoda, she is also one of the 6 teased combatants back at the ending of Hulk VS Broly though I wanted Shadow to fight Wario but that can still become a DBX so it's all good but man the irony here is that Shadow is fighting his waifu as in the Twitter Q&A for Sonic Forces back in 2017, someone asked Shadow what his favorite anime is and he said and I quote: "I like the one with the edgy girl and the Scissor Blade." but anyway, I hope you enjoy that one next week and I will be back for my thoughts on that one.
the public domain thing probably won't matter all that much
it's only specifically the 1928 shorts that are entering public domain in 2024, and anything that was introduced after that point (including particular designs for Mickey, aspects of his personality that were only introduced later, related characters, etc.) will still be under copyright
plus, disney will still have _trademark_ in the name "Mickey Mouse" and his specific appearance; this is how the Burroughs estate has kept control over appearances of Tarzan even though ERB's Tarzan stories entered public domain ages ago
so yeah, it's not going to have any effect on them doing a death battle, they'd be equally able to do one either before or after the 1928 shorts enter public domain

And of the outcome. Shadow is the one who had time stop powers and he got frickin slaughtered.
There is, indeed, an Archie Comics version of Shadow the Hedgehog.
The reason they scale Roxas with Mickey because he is the leader of all the keyblade wielders so basically he is stronger than them. As for Zeus, Sora and the gang defeated titans which is on par or stronger than Zeus and Mickey is stronger than Sora.
They did assume a lot for Micky.

They were afraid to use Disney properties because of how territorial the company has been over their IPs. They expressed interest in doing a Disney princess battle Royale.
Ya Ben jokingly Banned Yoda because he doesn't like how he leaped around in the prequels. And Mickey Mouse was being afraid of Disney. They also said they would never do a Disney princess battle Royal for the same reason
While I loved the battle, I’m not a fan of how death battle does “this character fights this character so they must be comparable”. Mickey has never shown power near moving stars, and just because you beat something someone else couldn’t doesn’t mean you can do everything they can. After all, if Batman can stab Superman with a kryptonite spear and kill him, that doesn’t mean he is as strong as Superman

I am not too surprised Mickey won but when i originally watched this i thought Yoda had a decent chance.

Probably my favorite Season Premier episode.
If Death Battle decides to do Ahsoka Tano vs Psylocke at some point. It is one of my most wanted matches tbh. Second most wanted behind Rex (Xenoblade 2) vs Sora (Kingdom Hearts)

Welcome to Season 8, this is the best Season of Death Battle so far imo. There’s some pretty underwhelming episodes, but for the most part there’s a consistent level of quality to them, and it includes several of my favorite episodes of all time
did you give up on Kingdom Hearts because of the boss who played guitar and had a bunch of water clones you had to kill in a limited amount of time?
Actually, I believe I beat that boss, difficult though it was. The last thing I remember--so where I think I quit--was just making it through Aladdin's world.
