I love the concept of the Big E and Malcador spending a significant amount of time every day just sitting around thinking about how to outsmart Tzeench. Cause you could explain every weird-ish decision by Big E as this sort of “I actually NEED this to happen for like 17 other things to happen”… cause he was trying to induce massive foundational change in the galaxy, so the radically strict zero Psykers policy makes sense in the “FOR THE LOVE OF MATH DO NOT FEED THAT BEING IN PARTICULAR” kind of way.
Not meta enough. You're an imaginary character in his fiction about people that study 40k where he's created himself from and also which he was created by....
honestly tzeench being the greatest power does make a lot of sense, the mortal races dance at his whispers, the twisting changes he manipulates are never ending and beyond scope of mortals. his demonic servants can warp reality far beyond anything his siblings could dream of managing,
The moment you brought up the Lie, I knew you shared my hypothesis. Tzeentch represents entropy. There is no way he couldn't be the greatest of the gods - they represent aspects of him. My personal suspicion is that he is the architect of the current situation in 40k - the ascension of the Emperor, the Heresy, everything. All to keep the universe stirring and vital.
My theory is that Tzeentch's biggest weakness is that they can't keep himself from plotting against herself. They don't call him/she/they/them/it the great betrayer for nothing!

Sure, 10.000 years might not be a lot of time for the ruinous powers, even more so since in the Warp time seems to be a completely different thing, but still... it's quite some time where no real change happens at least on the grand scale.
Damn! This was fantastic. I'm a huge Tzeentch fan and so excited to see this new entry. I loved the story at the beginning. You captured the unexplainable in your eloquent prose. The Warp itself apparently always existed, but the ruinous powers are, at least from an outside-warp perspective, a relatively new phenomenon. The lore says that before the War in Heaven, the warp was like a calm ocean without the chaotic dangers anyone wanting to travel through the Warp is facing in the 41rst century, the Old Ones created their webway long before the chaos gods existed, so why would destroying Chaos be a bad thing for us humans? Apart from that, the way the Warp works, it would not take long before new chaos gods would appear anyway.
I don't know how you do it, Balder, but it seems like whatever video you release is something I've been wanting more information on. Every single time. It happened with Nurgle, it happened with Drucari, it happened with the Sisters of Battle and others, and now, you have caught my interest again. Tzeentch is my favorite of the Chaos Gods. He plays the Great Game in his own way, not playing to win, but rather he plays to amuse himself. He has no great plan and therefore cannot thus be totally foiled.
I definitely agree with Baldermort that Tzeentch is likely in fact the most powerful of the Ruinous Powers, after all as the Lord of Change he literally embodies Chaos itself not just a set of emotions/desires like the others. The seeming fickleness, the numerous and constantly changing plots, its insidiousness (both that it can affect *anyone* no matter their station or situation and how hard it can be to detect - within someone or a society) and how nothing about it can ever be known for certain. As our faithful servant stated about the Alpha Legion, it is Tzeentch who *IS* chaos.
Another amazing video! The thought that The Emperor, not Magnus or Ahriman, is Tzeentch's greatest champion is an awesome one. Imagine the reveal on that in the current timeline - The 'Real' Imperium devolving into essentially Chaos worship, but fully organised and on a galactic scale, while Dante's side is left to fight on as the only remaining uncorrupted, essentially splitting humanity in to two different governments fighting for control. Very cool thought :D
That ending reminds me of the words of alan watts, about how we are not merely organisms, but organism-environments; the environment we inhabit is an integral part of what we do and who we are. So too are chaos gods to mortals; two mirrors infinitely reflecting each other.

This video is one of my favourites, especially the story. I love Tzeentch and any story like this where you only realised how the character has been deceived is when they provide context to their current situation
A little food for thought while you plan out your Slannesh video. Ever found it strange that the Chaos gods began to take an active role in the setting when Slannesh was born? The older chaos gods may have been created during the War in Heaven, but they were content to remain within their domains, passively feeding off the emotions from the material universe. It was only during the Age of Strife when the chaos gods sought to actively gain more power from the material universe. Tzeentch may believe that he is the Architect of Fate, but Slannesh is the one who has the Keepers of Secrets. And the biggest secret of all is that the Slannesh is the driving force behind the Great Game itself. The chaos gods' boundless excess hunger for power empowers Slannesh. It is why the dark brothers gain the most power off of the most extreme of mortal acts in their name. Slannesh may seem like the weakest of the chaos gods, but I find him to be the most insidious out of all of them.
Not really , the unholy trinity of tzeentch, khorne and nurgle was at a knife edge and was extremely delicate then slaanesh came out of nowhere and ruined it destroying the delicate balance plus the eye of terror her birth created also made chaos incursions easier. The keeper of secrets name is coz they know the deepest hidden desires that mortals conceal even to their loved ones and prey on those desires and secrets to deliver agonizing joy to them .
Baldermort, you are awesome! The way you expound upon the lore and story of the Grim Dark rivals, nay bests, the works of the Black Library. You are inspiring and captivating in equal parts!
Tzeentch has always interested me the most, and his plots and machinations are always the most subtle of all the schemers in the 40k universe, mainly because he was the one least easily manipulated by a singular obsession, bloodthirst, lust, corruption and death, etc. His models are beautiful, though not as much fun to paint as Nurgle’s, and while pink and blue aren’t my favorite “evil” colors his demons are creepy and would have scared the living crap out of H.P. Lovecraft, who had a strong phobia towards seafood.
Tzeentch and Slannesh are my favourites and I'm forever arguing with myself on which I prefer. This is a fantastic piece of work again Baldermort I was drawn in so much and your piece at the end made hairs stand on end... Absolutely Fantastic!!!!!

Perhaps what drove Tzeentch mad was realizing the ULTIMATE ultimate lie. That absolutely everything is made up, the creation of some little studio on another Earth's rainy little island.
Interesting theory. Reminds of me of the story of the blue scribes. A tell for you dear Baldermort. Tzeetech was power supreme armed with staff that gave him all magic spells the other gods grew jealous and entered alliance to attack Tzeetech at once. Facing defeat he broke his staff into thousands of shards to show he surrendered. Then he took 2 blue horrors and task them in recovering the shards when Tzeetech recovers all the shards he will be ruling power once again.
I thoroughly enjoy each episode as you are an amazing narrator. I wish I could do it as well as you. I hope you could do the voice over for one of the Primarchs. I believe Sanguinius would be the one your voice can best represent. Thank you for sharing yourself with us.

Always been my favourite of the four chaos gods. Something about Tzeentch just amuses me compared to the other three. A pernicious, bewildering trickster. If they have your allegiance, all of the gods ultimately get what they want out of you in the end. But Tzeentch has always seemed to me like he at least gives you a chance to sit at the table and play the game, if you're smart enough to entertain him.
I've had a shitty self-insert WH40K isekai rattling around in my head. That bit at the end reflects the convo with an Emissary of Tzeentch. "Why would The Master Plotter is assist you in your diplomatic efforts?" "Because it literally says on the box, "In The Grim Darkness of the Far Future, There is Only War." Had I been a multibillionare, I'd built a radiotelescope broadcasting 40k lore by Oculus Imperia and Baldermort into space. Had last tzeentch-ish laugh when in far future, Aliens discovered will take it as genuine message (and somehow understand).
Tzeentch? Crazy? Impossible, I've never heard a more strange thing than the god who knows all, sees all, who lives at the very heart of impossibility and actively unravels strands of fate itself just for the sake of better connecting the lines to the end of a tapestry in constant fluctuation potentially being mad. Now Tzeentch being scared of humanity on the other hand, that is a very.... fascinating thought. A god afraid of his worshipers as he knows that they are his creators and sustainers. A thought becoming self aware and creating new thoughts of its own, each with the constant risk of being forgotten or pushed aside by the mind of the initial thinker. The god of paradoxes. A paranoid shut-in, a charismatic leader, a gibbering madman, and the most introspective being in existence. All of it is true, none of it is true. In the end only Tzeentch himself knows or does he?

The moment you brought up the Lie, I knew you shared my hypothesis. Tzeentch represents entropy. There is no way he couldn't be the greatest of the gods - they represent aspects of him. My personal suspicion is that he is the architect of the current situation in 40k - the ascension of the Emperor, the Heresy, everything. All to keep the universe stirring and vital.

The Warp itself apparently always existed, but the ruinous powers are, at least from an outside-warp perspective, a relatively new phenomenon. The lore says that before the War in Heaven, the warp was like a calm ocean without the chaotic dangers anyone wanting to travel through the Warp is facing in the 41rst century, the Old Ones created their webway long before the chaos gods existed, so why would destroying Chaos be a bad thing for us humans?
Apart from that, the way the Warp works, it would not take long before new chaos gods would appear anyway.

Tzeentch is my favorite of the Chaos Gods. He plays the Great Game in his own way, not playing to win, but rather he plays to amuse himself. He has no great plan and therefore cannot thus be totally foiled.
I definitely agree with Baldermort that Tzeentch is likely in fact the most powerful of the Ruinous Powers, after all as the Lord of Change he literally embodies Chaos itself not just a set of emotions/desires like the others.
The seeming fickleness, the numerous and constantly changing plots, its insidiousness (both that it can affect *anyone* no matter their station or situation and how hard it can be to detect - within someone or a society) and how nothing about it can ever be known for certain. As our faithful servant stated about the Alpha Legion, it is Tzeentch who *IS* chaos.
Another amazing video! The thought that The Emperor, not Magnus or Ahriman, is Tzeentch's greatest champion is an awesome one. Imagine the reveal on that in the current timeline - The 'Real' Imperium devolving into essentially Chaos worship, but fully organised and on a galactic scale, while Dante's side is left to fight on as the only remaining uncorrupted, essentially splitting humanity in to two different governments fighting for control. Very cool thought :D

A little food for thought while you plan out your Slannesh video. Ever found it strange that the Chaos gods began to take an active role in the setting when Slannesh was born? The older chaos gods may have been created during the War in Heaven, but they were content to remain within their domains, passively feeding off the emotions from the material universe. It was only during the Age of Strife when the chaos gods sought to actively gain more power from the material universe.
Tzeentch may believe that he is the Architect of Fate, but Slannesh is the one who has the Keepers of Secrets. And the biggest secret of all is that the Slannesh is the driving force behind the Great Game itself.
The chaos gods' boundless excess hunger for power empowers Slannesh. It is why the dark brothers gain the most power off of the most extreme of mortal acts in their name. Slannesh may seem like the weakest of the chaos gods, but I find him to be the most insidious out of all of them.
Not really , the unholy trinity of tzeentch, khorne and nurgle was at a knife edge and was extremely delicate then slaanesh came out of nowhere and ruined it destroying the delicate balance plus the eye of terror her birth created also made chaos incursions easier. The keeper of secrets name is coz they know the deepest hidden desires that mortals conceal even to their loved ones and prey on those desires and secrets to deliver agonizing joy to them .
Baldermort, you are awesome! The way you expound upon the lore and story of the Grim Dark rivals, nay bests, the works of the Black Library. You are inspiring and captivating in equal parts!

Tzeentch has always interested me the most, and his plots and machinations are always the most subtle of all the schemers in the 40k universe, mainly because he was the one least easily manipulated by a singular obsession, bloodthirst, lust, corruption and death, etc. His models are beautiful, though not as much fun to paint as Nurgle’s, and while pink and blue aren’t my favorite “evil” colors his demons are creepy and would have scared the living crap out of H.P. Lovecraft, who had a strong phobia towards seafood.

Interesting theory. Reminds of me of the story of the blue scribes. A tell for you dear Baldermort. Tzeetech was power supreme armed with staff that gave him all magic spells the other gods grew jealous and entered alliance to attack Tzeetech at once. Facing defeat he broke his staff into thousands of shards to show he surrendered. Then he took 2 blue horrors and task them in recovering the shards when Tzeetech recovers all the shards he will be ruling power once again.
You even made Tzeentch exciting. I’m surprised, but a welcome one.

Always been my favourite of the four chaos gods. Something about Tzeentch just amuses me compared to the other three. A pernicious, bewildering trickster. If they have your allegiance, all of the gods ultimately get what they want out of you in the end. But Tzeentch has always seemed to me like he at least gives you a chance to sit at the table and play the game, if you're smart enough to entertain him.

Now Tzeentch being scared of humanity on the other hand, that is a very.... fascinating thought. A god afraid of his worshipers as he knows that they are his creators and sustainers.
