Last week I was having trouble creating a thumbnail.... it was too boring and I was thinking about channels that have interesting thumbnails and I came to this channel because I remembered how interesting your thumbnails are.... so thank you!!
A lot of great points. Also worth considering video length and how that translates into shareability, but that's a whole other rabbit hole as lots of exceptions to the rule. For example, I thought this was a very concise list, and didn't even realise I'd been watching it for 9 mins!
I just found your channel!!! You have good content regarding story telling. My biggest challenge is the story telling format. Thanks again, you just gained a new subscriber!!!!
I've been watching Philip Defranco since like, 2010.. it's been awesome seeing him grow and change. He's definitely landed on a format that really works for his personality and the type of show he wants to run. He's a good example of a channel that was starting to go downhill and then made some pivots and really exploded into the success that he is now. Just for research, it's a good show to go back a few years and see the progression.
Love this. So many good points. Back in May, I started a weekly Meetup for TH-cam Creators in Liverpool UK - and find there's a lot of conversations around the topics you mention... Starting with the car chase, staying authentic while amplifying your personality, and sharing life experience / lessons. Thanks for creating this Chris and co. Appreciated.
Mark Contreras As an educator located in Taiwan for the past 25 years. It saddens me to see teens in Taiwan being completely oblivious of the endless possibilities they have in their smartphones, despite playing online games and using useless apps. Chrisdo can certainly influence a massive market of untapped youth in Taiwan...simply by sharing his knowledge and experience. I for one, will definitely help to spread the word in Taiwan because I think all of my students could benefit. Obviously, Chrisdo can certainly influence and inspire others in other countries. But, 25 years in Taiwan motivates me to ask him to come and help...because the fact is...we need help in Taiwan.
The Futur Yeah I was agreeing saying glad it wasn't any in there like a lot of other vids may claim to be on TH-cam. I've been on the platform for 5-6 months and have been putting out content I wanted to create and making it engaging and taking things step by step learning more & more
Awesome valuable information here! YES YES YES to experienced designers creating YT content. This is exactly what I have told my business coach. With 20 years in the game, I have a strong viewpoint and a lot of experience and insight to share that a newbie wouldn't be able to draw from.
Started my TH-cam channel not too long ago. Not doing so great on impressions. Though i noticed that a particular video that alot of my friends requested for is doing better than most. 1.Would like to get more tips on seo for youtube. 2. Should one do videos that everyone wants cos of ranking before doing videos you would actually love to make?. Thank you so much always.
I like the way chris affiliates himself with other top dogs...from this vd cover(i called it). This is also a smart self promoting...bring in, mention and align with influencers, icons and your idols.
Really good advice, lots of sense which is only obvious after someone points it out.. interesting point about the age of creators as well, I had thought that TH-cam was a young platform but this gives me a little hope!
So to conclude...“TH-cam needs your advice, your life accomplishments, and youtube is giving poor information to the world and because they know how to play the game, they’re getting more views than us” Makes sense.
Excellent video. Thanks for the great stuff. Already doing some of this on my small channel but will be adding a few more of these tips as I move forward. Love it!
Just focus on the core principles that make your perspective unique. The minute we end up in The Attack of The Casey Clones, it'll be instant sadness. It doesn't matter how many quick-cuts, or boosted boards a video has, that's not real "value". The Futur is great because it's honest about the business of design. If you look at a lot of TH-cam gurus, it becomes apparent that it's mostly feel-good platitudes. It's entertainment. What people want to hear and what they need to hear are two different things, but only one of those will get them where they want to be.
Very valid points Thanks Chris! I think adding the benefits from YT would have been more insightful for the newbies. Curious to know what percentage YT is contributing to your income. Also for a new TH-camr is it necessary to have some paid promotions in order to get views? Or do you think if the content of the video is good, it will organically get views?
Which video is the one Chris is referencing " Charge clients what you're worth" that he said hairdressers were even watching? I tried using the search bar in the channel but it's a message Chris hammers into our brains every chance he gets (for our benefit) so there are dozens of videos that come up.
Chris I'm super curious what your thoughts are about Pewdiepie's channel! I personally think he's also one of the most genuine personalities on TH-cam. Even though he's been controversial I like him and think he's a good person :)
The Futur true! Lol. I like his style because he stays very closely true to who he is. His video production remains the same quirky low budget charm he's been known for for a few years now. It's super genuine I love it
For the ones who are starting and doesn't have 10+ years in the industry (for example) is it appropiate to start in the youtube field? How is it possible to generate trust without having won awards or without an incredible portfolio that supports the arguments? (sorry for my english)
We go with a lightweight setup when we travel for run-n-gun shooting. In this case, we shot with sony a7sii's with canon and zeiss lenses. Other gear: Zhiyun crane camera gimbal, DJI mavic drone, Zoom H1/ H4 audio recorders, sennheiser wireless lavalier mics, rode videomic pros. In the studio, we shoot with canon c100s, sony FS5, and red epic for high-end shoots, and various lights from cineo, kino, aputure, westcott...
Enjoyed this, thanks for the encouragement of us more experienced people. I agree there’s an opportunity for us. Keep up the great work, I’ve enjoyed watching your channel evolve over the last 2 years, it’s come a long way.
Do you do podcasts or have aspirations to do so? I wanna hear you talk when I'm riding my bike Chris, I wanna soak up that knowledge when I'm on my daily commute!
Right now it's been hard to build my audience past friends and family ... but I'm also not purely focused on growing. I'm more interested in exploring what I like most about the animation process so once I nail that part I could start to build a series because people on TH-cam love to binge watch things. Right now my monthly animations probably seem very disjointed but there's a method behind the madness :D
Is "Bob Ross" a personality? That's pretty much my lane (without the fro). I guess I'm destined to get PBS-like numbers :-) Seriously, though, there are users who watch my videos and learn. My dull personality fits really well with second language learners, especially. Also, the overkil--uh, thorough nature--of my approach is really helpful to those learning new concepts in the web dev space. So, while I think you need a lot of the suggestions in this video to get lots of subscribers, the world still needs you even if you're boring and straightforward. Don't be afraid to just be solid if that's who you are. Many people are looking for that. You won't kill it with the money (probably) but you can make a few bucks and help a few million people, which is cool. Huge thanks to @thefutur for putting out such high quality videos. Keep it real. Keep it honest.
Hey Chris! Have you ever read Marketing Warfare by Al Ries & Jack Trout? It's a very easy read and has helped me quite a lot when we started doing client work. Best, Leo
Amazing as always! I have a question though: for a young person with not much experience, how to make more valuable content? Should I focus on getting more experience first or share the insights I believe can help people? Thank you The Futur team and Chris!
Helping the Graphic Design community become more authentic everyday. Hell to the yeah! This week is going to be good :D
Thank you.
That Peter McKinnon impression at 3:25 made my day lol
Last week I was having trouble creating a thumbnail.... it was too boring and I was thinking about channels that have interesting thumbnails and I came to this channel because I remembered how interesting your thumbnails are.... so thank you!!
You bet.
All the info about how to edit videos like the pros is great. Not to mention all the inspiration. Thanks Futur!
You're very welcome!
Chris I always love your content. Keep changing the mind set of design.👍🏽
If I ever become a TH-camr, this video has to be one of the biggest influences
Everyone should be on the video game.
A lot of great points. Also worth considering video length and how that translates into shareability, but that's a whole other rabbit hole as lots of exceptions to the rule. For example, I thought this was a very concise list, and didn't even realise I'd been watching it for 9 mins!
Thumbnail got me clicking at the God speed Chris + Peter + Casey
Haha.

Love everything about this video. I'm sure this video will help a lot of young content creator including myself.
great. hope to see you producing video content soon.
I just found your channel!!! You have good content regarding story telling. My biggest challenge is the story telling format. Thanks again, you just gained a new subscriber!!!!
Thanks. Welcome.

all creators that are still in the game have this in common. you grow, evolve or die.
This is fantastic advice and I'm going to incorporate it into my channel and share with my TH-cam friends! More people need to see this!!
please do. we'd like to see more content creators who can contribute other than the normal junk you see on YT.
For gods sake! Everytime Chris speaks he makes me feel I can acomplish my goals! Thanks dudes! To the whole team!
you can! you have to believe you can before you can accomplish something. do it!
Loved this TH-cam-focused video, thank you :)
Thanks Dan. You coming to Max?
Hi Dansky, love your videos and your voice
Very Very Practical.... very very Helpful thanks as always @thefutur
You really need to co-operate with a Taiwan TH-camr.
This content is gold for teens in Taiwan...
Why Taiwan, specifically?
What about Eleanor Jiang?
The Futur should definitely get in touch with her! She’s really becoming popular in Taiwan now.
Exposition > rising action > Climiax > resolution = digestible content.
Content + Presenter authenticity = returning audience
thanks Michael!
That thumbnail though. It will have people clicking on the video faster than light. XD
Cuban Nerd ;( clickbait, Peter and Casey don't deserve this
@Dank Jim They are big boys. They can take it. ;)

This was a great video. Particularly number 3...understanding that you are in essence a character - really powerful. Thank you for this!
This video was so helpful and clarified the details & glad it displayed no shortcuts cause there is none. I really enjoyed the content & message.
shortcuts can be used by anyone. you don't want to be like anyone.
The Futur Yeah I was agreeing saying glad it wasn't any in there like a lot of other vids may claim to be on TH-cam. I've been on the platform for 5-6 months and have been putting out content I wanted to create and making it engaging and taking things step by step learning more & more

Great great! Consider it shared!
Really good advice, lots of sense which is only obvious after someone points it out.. interesting point about the age of creators as well, I had thought that TH-cam was a young platform but this gives me a little hope!
Thank you for all the inspirational content Futur & team! :D
So to conclude...“TH-cam needs your advice, your life accomplishments, and youtube is giving poor information to the world and because they know how to play the game, they’re getting more views than us”
Makes sense.
TH-cam needs people who’ve actually done something other than be a TH-camr
Agreed.
Thanks for this awesome!!!
No joke, this is the most important video I have ever watched. Thank you!
Thanks
Wow! I am not a TH-camr but amazing tips!!

Excellent excerpt! Miss the rest! 😟 but nonetheless (always) thankful for what you’ve shared!
Peters Interview with John Hill on Progress Daily Earth was really interesting to understand his behind the scenes process
I’ll check that out.
5:24 the modern day digital age version "Get off my lawn!"
Absolutely, but it's very necessary for that to happen in order for the platform to grow.
So good! Thank you!
thanks Jeff.

We are working on a whole course on growing your TH-cam channel. Including the benefits.
The Futur That's great to hear! Looking forward!
I'm glad i started my agency right when i met this channel, so good
good timing Rico!
I will try your tips. Thank you so much for sharing. We learned a lot today. We appreciate it.

he's the undisputed YT king right? what is there to say?

It hasn’t stopped thousands of creators.
What cameras and equipment do you use to film all of these amazing videos ?
We go with a lightweight setup when we travel for run-n-gun shooting. In this case, we shot with sony a7sii's with canon and zeiss lenses. Other gear: Zhiyun crane camera gimbal, DJI mavic drone, Zoom H1/ H4 audio recorders, sennheiser wireless lavalier mics, rode videomic pros.

Yes. Check the description. We have 50 or so podcasts.

that's fine. you don't have to figure it out right away.
Yup, no rush on finding that authentic voice ... eventually something will click!

Bob Ross is a legend. His personality made everyone feel at ease.
Yes. This is extremely valuable advice.
Hey Chris! Have you ever read Marketing Warfare by Al Ries & Jack Trout? It's a very easy read and has helped me quite a lot when we started doing client work. Best, Leo
I haven’t. I have some of their books but not that one.
It has some nice theories. Comparing Carl von Clausewitz' warfare strategies with the modern advertising world
Love your work and u Chris 👍
thanks Enid!
Amazing as always! I have a question though: for a young person with not much experience, how to make more valuable content? Should I focus on getting more experience first or share the insights I believe can help people? Thank you The Futur team and Chris!
No. You can start making content now. Keep in mind that it takes a long time to develop your on camera persona and you have to start somewhere.
Sharing insights from what you’ve learned through a process is often valuable.
Thank you. You both have given me a lot to think about, appreciate it.
the futur dropping some great knowledge again, thank you for doing this it is such an inspiration for us designers!
get your video game on.
AWESOME content!!!!!
Glactic Criminal is also a good example
I'll have to look him up.
Hi bro... I want to ask that can we use pictures from google for TH-cam channel without any copyright issue?
I’m no attorney. It’s a risk. We use shutter stock for most of our thumbnails. It’s something we pay for.
So helpful guys as always, I am grateful for this, thank you😍✨👌
thanks! Bringing our trips abroad back home to share w/ the world.
Magic!
Good one :)
Will u be talking abt SEO next? Pls do
Yeah.

5 tips: put Niestadt, DeFranco, McKinnon, ... in the title. This guy wears a lot of black.
That was tip number 0
this is awesome
