I don’t think you should worry about coming off as rude or mean. You handled things properly by criticizing the player’s actions and not the player. I admire this player because clearly they submitted this because they have a desire to get better and put themselves up for scrutiny so they can get better. I think they and many of us watching good some good information to take away from this video and that information wouldn’t come across if you just wanted to walk on eggshells and sugarcoat things.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate your thorough analysis :) As you probably know, I’m a casual player who’s never played Splatoon 1, and I know that I’m really bad at this game (hence the name). I do want to improve, so thank you so much for helping me!
Another thing that could help, and is something that I push on everyone, is knowing parameter values. Parameters are what the game uses to calculate how a weapon works, and in the case of the dualies there's a parameter that tells you how fast it shoots: 1 bullet per 5 frames (12 bullets per second). After dodge rolling, your accuracy increases to essentially 100% and that rate of fire increases to 1 bullet per 4 frames (15 per second). This is why Dude keeps mentioning the dodge rolls - they make you much more lethal, especially if you can catch someone out of a super jump or landing from an Inkjet. Inkipedia usually has a Data section for each weapon, so give it a look sometime. And keep it up, you're doing good so far!
I am an X/S+ Rank player I don’t play as much rank as usual but I learn a lot on how to play both Splatoon 1 and 2. I played Splatoon 1 right after it was done with all the Updates and I was not the best player than I am right now. I didn’t learn as much on how to play in the first game, Fortunately I did learn a lot on how to play Splatoon 2 and now I can play Splatoon 1 better than Before. I am sure you will get better in the Future
8:14 No, I personally don‘t hate you for saying and pinpointing these things . I‘m glad that you‘re doing it so that I (or we) can learn and become better at rank matches. And when you have to get a little bit harsher because people aren’t learning then so be it. It‘s only gonna help us improve. So thank you So much for doing it and helping us becoming better players.^^
I just recently got to S rank in splat zones and things you mentioned here are definitely things I noticed. The higher in rank you get the faster everyone gets and the more aware each player becomes of the entire match not just themselves. It’s wild to watch and really rewarding once you finally get used to it at start really getting up there in rank. Thanks for this Dude your an awesome teacher hopefully I’ll get to send you some gameplay sometime 👍
You know the sad part is that I still see bad moves done in X rank. Players who can't aim at an opponent who in front of them, a really weakened opponent (1 hit to death) who they can't revenge kill, players pushing too far on their own, players staying too far back who don't push when they should, players who do their own thing forcing a 3v4, players who leave an easy 2v1, baiting tenta missiles into teammates, distracting a teammate who was in a one v one, giving away a teammates position, making obvious unsafe jumps, and etc. Sometimes it is rough when you get some of this.
If he didnt play Splatoon 1 and is at level 37 in Splatoon 2 then its quite normal to be at this skill level. Getting good in anything takes time. You can shorten the time to get better by reflecting on your actions after every match. What went wrong? In what situation did I tunnelvision? Did I use the map enough? Did I use my special enough? Did I know where the enemies and my teammates where most of the time? Did I think before I acted? Also dont blame your teammates after a lost match. Concentrate on your own game and what you can do better. Getting better is your first goal in every match. Winning comes second.
Regarding dodge-rolling, it is super important for ensuring your shots aren't missing while your aim is on, but I know a lot of players don't use it at first because they don't anticipate where their aim will be after the roll. This is something the training room is fantastic for; roll perpendicular to the dummies and try to have your aim right on top of them as soon as you finish the roll. You get used to it the more you practice and you feel really cool when you start pulling it off in matches. Hope that helps someone -an X rank dualies player
This helped me a lot. I used to jot look at the top bar to see who was dead and who was alive. It was in ranked and we already lost the lead. I was stupid and rushed in when ALL my teammates were wiped out. I watched some of your videos and it helped a lot. Keep going 👌
Great criticisms! At least this person was willing to submit a video for feedback. I've seen people get upset at why they lose and then get upset from feedback.
Hope everybody watches this video can reach rank X :) nice video mr dude, though I wish I had those kind of tips for me when I was a noob didnt know u back then
Funny that you bring up Tunnel Vision, when I was starting out, I had a horrible case of it. As I've been becoming more and more experienced, I've noticed that I do it much less than before, which I'm happy about
I'm X rank and I definitely learned something from this. I think I'm pretty good at aiming and movement, but I don't usually pay much attention to my teammates' specials. I'm trying to remove my tunnel vision entirely, but that is probably one of the hardest things to learn, just awareness of other players.
Taking to task what is happening in the centre of my screen is great but once I started trying to look at all of my screen while playing I’ve improved 10 fold.
Not keeping an eye on the player at the upper ledge is kind of annoying, but I can sort of understand. But how do you not notice an opponents jump spot (at 4:56) and stand next to it firing to take them out? Unless that player had a splashdown ready. The rainmaker seems to be okay already with the other teammates. Sometimes I see these types of players in X rank too, where certain teammates should have been easily able to see an opponent at the corner of their screen and watch what they do and stop them or at least distract them so maybe teammates can push the objective, but seem too focused on what's directly in front of them. Since they are closer to them than I am, I trust them to take it out, depending on the weapon they have or the situation of the game we are in.
To bad in x rank it's a mix of low skilled and high skilled. I've been in many games were it's just frustrating, I wish it would group people around your level and not who is in the rank. There is a clear difference between a prestige player and a person who has yet to prestige once.
Well, there's two ways. The first way is the most obvious: Hold your screencapture to capture the last 30 seconds until you click it again. Then, it'll be saved onto your Switch and you can upload it onto Twitter. Or, you'll need capture equipment like a capture card. Instead of the Switch's integrated recording system, you could record hours (albeit massive) of playtime and dissect it through other video editing software. You'd need a computer, and probably more preferably a desktop for it though.

As an A rank player myself, I would be totally fine with Dude critiquieing my gameplay like this because Ik I have alot of room for improvement lol.

4:37 they did attempt to dodge although they were not fast enough
You should analyze your earlier splatoon 2 videos, when everyone was still looking at their hands for the map and stingray was a sad kamehameha.

The one time I wish I could record gameplay so Dude can critique my (nonexistent) skills.
Can the next Dr. Dude episode analyze Putz12’s gameplay? Would be epic!!!
Using these methods I managed to escape mediocre Splatoon in less than two weeks reaching X rank in less than two weeks
Thanks for your help Dr DUDE as always 👌🏻.
I love these analysis videos!
Dr Dude is the best series!

I love these, im learning so much. And i played splatoon 1
Dude, would you do it with a stick player too?
I only play casually BC I'm so bad I struggle with B rank XD.
I’m in the a ranks and I dont do most of these things
Can you do a episode over my game play?
How do you submit dr dude videos? Through discord?
Love this vid and how about S0 to X rank?

How do I record with my Switch? And once I've done that how do I get that to my phone?
Also what would be a good starting team to join?
Joshua Clark You need to purchase a capture card and you need a computer.

Joshua Clark You can find a video online on how to use a capture card correctly.

Clam blitz is the worst modes of this game but it‘s the best for the funny moments
Vinagresalsa Carne no x)
It's actually a great mode, but to each their own, the "clown" mode for me is Tower Control.
Kart'ink 63 imo it is the best, most action and backliners so well
CreationsFlare pffft tower control is easily the best mode for me. It’s an easy X
@@tonelsen lmao imo it is the hardest rank x mode :p, what's ur main(s) (personally im kensa nozzle and bamboo)
Im in X and im a "sticks" player idk what my mechanical skill level would be :/

low rank I get it but jesus
