3:45, Omar, I really have to say thank you, Because I saw your Nightwing collected editions vol 1, so I decided to buy It. I bought It on March 17th in English language. It arrived late due to Covid and I started read it, I finished the Nightwing vol 1 (1-4) and I really liked it, now I am Reading Batman R.I.P ,, and when I'll finish It, I'll restart Nightwing. Thank you for mentioning Invincible! It gets overlooked too often and its seriously my favorite comic and is what got me back into comics/collected editions. Would love to see a video dedicated to it. Great video btw!!! These types of vids help me expand my collection
Every time I see a new video, by you mi hermano. I have to watch! You never disappoint. Thank you for all the content and it never goes unnoticed. my most read books are Annihilation, Transmetropolitan tpbs and Preacher.
Omar I was able to snag all six Starman volumes on eBay a couple days ago for a damn good deal. Hearing you talk and rave about it definitely made me want to get it that much more not to mention what other people have had to say on it. Really looking forward to it.
Love Mouse guard. I was talking about that book on a walk home with my youngest son just two days ago. Now he wants to read it. Usagi was a good pick. I usually read volume 4 "Journey with Jotaro" the most. I really liked your list. I actually just went through my shelves to see which my "Most read" would be. I realized Sandman World's end is probably the one. I enjoy the multiple stories from the travelers. Thanks Omar what a great topic.
I don't have the tpb but based on how many times i read the floppies it would totally be X-Cutioner's Song. Something about that crossover with all the X-titles that resonated with me. Fairly new to the graphic novel formats, was always a floppies collector(still am but cutting back) but i'm shifting! Your videos have been a big help! Palante hermano!
Just came across this channel, it's fantastic. Don't ever apologise for reading a book. That's what they're meant for! I collected comics for a decade, sold the lot and replaced them digitally. I now just own special editions like the absolute sandman editions or specific first appearances. I had thousands of comics, films, books, got rid of 95% of all of them, replaced them digitally and now spend my money on the best editions I can find
Good stuff ! You put me on to a few I didn’t know for sure . That yellowing on uncanny is my worst nightmare but I agree it is one that needs to be enjoyed and shared.
Good video man. Am glad you touched the issue of re reading and electronic books. Am a student so I have to be very selective about what I should collect. I first read the electronic version then see if it's worth buying it to buy it. As always, great video and keep up the good work
@@NearMintCondition thanks for the validation man. Am super ocd and anxious and can't even read books unless am sure am doing the right thing. You're insight will really help me with that.
My most read graphic novels are Sinestro Corps War and Blackest Night. They were my first two comics I ever read and are really my main comfort comics. I've read Sinestro Corps War 19 times and Blackest Night upwards of 12.
cool video as always, Omar! unfortunately (or luckily) I don`t get the chance to read my comics once more, because of my TBR stack. But if I could do so, I would read e.g. Crimson by Ramos, Transmetropolitan by Ellis, Batman: White Knight by Murphy, or Goodnight, Punpun by Asano etc.
Completely agree with omnis being superior to single issues. Omnis end up taking up to much space but not like long. And short boxes. I gave up on single issues a year ago due to the clutter and price. I’d like a video, or at least some time in a video recommending shelving for omnis. Omnis are so big and heavy the shelving I’m working with needs upgraded.
Great list Omar. Happy to see a few of my favorites on that list like Hush, Berserk, and Invincible. And it makes me so happy to see someone else preach the whole "it's a book, it's meant to be read" message. It has a use and we should read them! My most read would be Batman Hush, Green Lantern Rebirth and Sinestro Corps War, X-men Second Coming, and Berserk....I need to sit down and really re-read a lot of my favorites this year, might do me some good.
I think the biggest disservice we can do to a collection is to just have and display it. Like you said books are meant to be read and enjoyed and yes maybe even shared with other people. I'm almost getting to a point where if I know I'll never read a book again I'd rather somebody else try it to see if they will enjoy it. It's been a while since I last re read a book, but the one I've read the most was 100 Bullets at about 6 times. It's almost due for another re read if I can ever catch up on my backlog.
@@NearMintCondition Neither can I! But truthfully I wish they had done 3 Omni instead of 2. 61 issues is too much for an omnibus. If they did 3 I feel like they could have thrown in the Johnny Double mini along with Brother Lono.
Great list man! I got back into reading comics again last year since 2007 because of you and everyones reviews/recommendations. Also love the fact that you do your best to not spoil stories for everyone, greatly appreciate it. The series that I finished recently that was in your past recommendations is Invincible. And my god, that was epic! Felt like a spider-man story with saiyan saga proportions. Keep up the great work! The next video I would like to see is either an updated 2020 collection tour, Valiant Universe reading order, or top 20 super-hero comics. Thanks!
I hate spoiling anything for anyone. As some of these stories are being read by someone for the first time. If I ever do need to talk about spoilers, I usually warn people ahead of time. Thank you for the kind words.
I've gotten to a point where I don't really keep books around that I don't plan to read again multiple times. I'm much happier with a smaller collection of stuff that I really love, in the nicest format I can get them. Everything else, I either buy and then resell it, or just borrow it from the library if it's available.
Amen! Books should always be read! Here are some of my most read collected editions (in no particular order) 1. Ultimate Spider-Man 2. Kirkman's Invincible 3. Batman Long Halloween 4. New 52 Aquaman 5. Annihilation 6. Hellboy (Conqueror Worm) 7. Uzumaki 8. Blacksad
Yeah i don't keep any book or videogame sealed, even if i don't get to them right away i always like to check them out right away. For my most read tbh i rarelly re-read something as i always have a backlog, but i definitely have some i wanna go back to like Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibouken which i finished quite a few years ago and have all the volumes.
I know this is an older video, but amen! Books are meant to be read! A read book is a loved book, a book read over and over again is a book deeply loved!
You say that opening Usagi Yojimbo devalues it; however, it is more valuable because the author signed it! And by presenting it to him open, you showed him that you actually read and appreciate his work.
Redwall books are such fantastic children's fantasy stories. I have yet to read every book in the series. I nearly completed the collection of paperbacks recently
I remember collecting that NightWing run in single issues as a teen. It gave me the exact same feeling. I think a lot of my favorite reads go hand in hand with the nostalgic feelings I get.
1) Watchmen 2) Flex Mentallo by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely 3) Planetary by Warren Ellis and John Cassaday 4) Swamp Thing by Alan Moore, Steve Bissette, John Totleben, and Rick Veitch 5)Bratpack by Rick Veitch 6) Miracleman by Alan Moore and Alan Davis, John Totleben, and others 7) Invisibles by Grant Morrison and others 8) Preacher by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon 9) Sleeper by Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips 10) Squadron Supreme by Mark Gruewald and Bob Hall and Paul Ryan. I obviously have a thing for deconstructionist superhero comics.
Too many new books to catch up on to re-read as much as I'd like, but so far just Watchmen, All-Star Superman, Superman for all Seasons, Kingdom Come, and Identity Crisis. Top 11 books I hope to re-read soon: Pride of Baghdad, Mr. Miracle, The Fade Out, Underwater Welder, Daytripper, Animal Man omni, Flex Mentallo, V for Vendetta, Saga, Superman Rebirth, Astonishing X-Men.
Have you thought of making a video about badly mapped out omnibuses? I am asking, because I found out that there were some missing issues in Batman and Robin omnibus.
I saw Starman coming for sure. I was expecting Akira so that was a surprise. I wish DC wouldn’t have cancelled the Starman Cosmic Omnibus. I had that thing preordered the day it was announced.
I’ve bee using quarantine to catch up on my backlog I haven’t reread anything in a bit, but my most read books would probably be: Halo: Hell jumper, Injustice: Gods among us Vol 1, Fullmetal Alchemist vol 1, Berserk Deluxe Edition vol 1, and One Punchman
I’m a teacher and I don’t think I could ever let my kids read my omnis or books from my collection. You should see what they do to my books in my class. Lol 😂
My most read series The Sixth Gun, Helsing, The Lords of Misrule, Ghostdancing, Freak Angels, Children of the Voyager and Preacher. Empty Man and Fall of Cthulhu are closing in on taking over one of the spots on my list.
Although Watchmen can be a chore to read, its amongst my most read. Whenever I feel the urge to read it again, instead of reading the whole thing in one sitting, I just read an issue a day for a couple weeks. My other most read are Court of Owls, TDKR, Batman Year One, DD: Man Without Fear, and Invincible!
I should get an X-men Omnibus (which would be my first also) just so I can gaze once more at all of Byrne/Austin and Paul Smith's beautiful artwork throughout that era. The original issues I bought off spinner racks (and duplicates on Ebay) are just too minty fresh to casually thumb through. Ditto that Starman Omni which I'm sure is a great read!
Among the ones in my collection I read the most include Batman: Hush, Batman A Death In The Family, Spiderman Maximum Carnage, The Todd McFarlane Spiderman omnibuses, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Body Count.
I know this might make me young but mouse guard was the first graphic novel that I read cover to cover. It means so much to me and both started my obsession with graphic novels and fantasy novels.
Awesome choices! Btw I think you have a very real influence on boom prices lol After your review of Gotham Central the Omni went from like $65 to $100, and there were a couple others I checked out of curiosity. Correlation is not causation but I think it’s due to how much we all value and trust your opinions!
Wow Omar, language. You kiss your Mother with that mouth!? 🤣 Thanks for sharing your list. It reminds me that I need to reread some of my books that are on your list. Keep up the great work, I'll be looking forward to your next video.
The Court of Owls storyline is by far my most read book. I own it in a couple different formats but, I’d say the Absolute Edition is my most read. I can’t even count how many times I’ve read that story.
Batman The Long Halloween Blackest Night GL: Rebirth That's because these were roughly the first graphic novels I ever got and bought with my own money, I read them to death, especially GL Rebirth as it was my first comic of Green Lantern and it's what got me into comics in the first place.
How about a video about books that you disagree with the popular opinion? Maybe you hate it when everyone loves the story or maybe you love it and dont understand the hate. Also side idea, do you feel like your collection properly represents you? Like most books are actually meaningful to you personally or do you feel like you are collecting a lot of bulk. Basically, if you had to start your collection from scratch which books would you cut?
my most read graphic novel, easily Blackest Night main story hardcover I've read it that much, that my friend blindfolded me, picked out a page and asked me what was going on on the page. I got everything spot on, even the dialogue second most read graphic novel, Batman: Hush. I love Jim Lee's artwork and the story Superman: For Tomorrow, again with Jim Lee's artwork and the story
I always had struggle with the notion of a graphic novel. To me a GN is a stand alone story with that concept or idea in mind from the start. A random volume or an omnibus with 20 issues of 60 issues of a regular series it's just that. For example, Asterios Polyp, Sabrina, Smile, etc. Sorry, it's not my intention being conflictive. BTW: it's a good list of comics.
I think the term changed in the early 90s as more and more collected editions were coming out. I still think of GNs as one shots like Sabrina. You are 100% correct, but now the term is more broad. Please don't apologize at all for sharing your views. :)
@@NearMintCondition Maybe someone would think that I'm trying to throw some shade or being a douchebag. Thanks for the response. Here in my country, we have a more graphic novel based market, so, if you go to a comic book shop looking for graphic novels, you're not gonna see collected editions of a monthly series in that section for example.
In no particular order - New Avengers Omnibus, New X-Men Omnibus, Absolute Kingdom Come, Civil War OHC, Avengers by Hickman Omnibus volumes 1 and 2, Infinity by Hickman digitally (it's amazing in this format, esp Silver Surfer story), Age of Apocalypse Omnibus, Sam and Twitch Volume 1 OHC, X-Men Onslaught TPBs (read my singles over and over ... then got the trades ... and then the omni)
I've lost track how many times I've read Claremont/Byrne's X-Men too. I did have that Omni but sold it and got the Masterworks version so I could take them on vacation a little easier. Those Nightwing stories are classic too. Always like Dick Grayson and Scott McDaniel's art. Trying to keep the trades in pristine condition so you can resell is pointless.
Personally, I consider Invincible to be the greatest superhero comic of all time, it made me believe in superheroes again, it felt real, and I had more joy reading it than I ever had reading anything previously.
Great list Omar. Thanks for sharing. What's my most read graphic novel? I want to say Calvin and Hobbes, but I think it might be Dreamwave's Transformers Vol. 2 War and Peace. It's strange cuz I'm not fanatic about Transformers. I too read Hush a lot. I remember that era of Nightwing. I thought they should have done more with Dick as a cop by day and vigilante by night. There was just something interesting and contradictory about that. Stay safe everyone and have a great day.
Ultimate Spider-Man: Power and Responsibility (easily 10+ times) Foxtrot (scores of times, some portions more than others) Calvin & Hobbes (again, scores of times, some portions more than others) Ultimate X-Men: Blockbuster and New Mutants (4-6 times, all for David Finch's art) Superman: Krisis of the Krimson Kryptonite (the first collected edition I got, read it many times, and dog eared the crap out of the pages) Wolverine: The Brotherhood (7 times) Parker: The Hunter (5 times) New X-Men: Choosing Sides (4 times) Spider-Girl: Legacy (5 times) What If? Spider-Man Vs. Wolverine (10+ times. I really liked the Assassin Spider-Man suit)
Hell yeah on Invincible! Mine first 3 are all signed and all beat to shit because I've read it so many times and lent it out for others to read. I'd say mine are Invincible Ultimate Edition v1, Stormwatch: Force of Nature which is the OG Ellis tpbs from Wildstorm, Local by Brian Wood and Ryan Kelly, PunisherMAX by Jason Aaron and Steve Dillon omni, and my Daredevil by Miller and Jason omni are my top 5 most read.
Top 11! I forgot and only showed my top 10. Here’s number eleven: DC Universe Rebirth/The Button (I just find myself picking them up and rereading it a few time’s a year.)
hit after hit with these vids, a vid on what are some good picks to give non comics readers could be cool, I have alot of people in my life who ive introduced them via some different books to varied degrees of success (sometimes its hard to separate my personal enjoyment due to my own familiarity with the medium if that makes sense) , so i'd be interested in your take on it
Why do collectors love lists so much? I have my own lists that I sit and adjust every few months, even though I’m the only person that reads them. We’re a weird bunch. I’ll post my list below. Spider-Man by JMS vol 1 Batman and Robin by Grant Morrison Flashpoint by Geoff Johns Trial of Captain America by Ed Brubaker Daredevil by Mark Waid vol. 1 He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Omnibus Flash New 52 Omnibus Justice Leauge Origins Batman Year One The Dark Tower Gunslinger Born

My other most read are Court of Owls, TDKR, Batman Year One, DD: Man Without Fear, and Invincible!
Love to see so many people with Invincible on their list. I love Watchmen, but I think my absolute has only been read twice.
Oh if you haven't at least buy the first Uncanny. The reproduction quality is amazing.
Among the ones in my collection I read the most include Batman: Hush, Batman A Death In The Family, Spiderman Maximum Carnage, The Todd McFarlane Spiderman omnibuses, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Body Count.
Body Count! Hellz yeah!
Good stuff. Obviously need to read Spider-Girl Complete Collection Volume 1 more but a nice list nonetheless.
:) I do. I've only read it once.
How many volumes of star man is OOP? Everyone I hear you talk about it I want to read it even more.
I believe a couple. But volume 3 might be the hardest to find.
I know this might make me young but mouse guard was the first graphic novel that I read cover to cover. It means so much to me and both started my obsession with graphic novels and fantasy novels.
It got you on board to this world. Nothing wrong with that.
Awesome choices! Btw I think you have a very real influence on boom prices lol After your review of Gotham Central the Omni went from like $65 to $100, and there were a couple others I checked out of curiosity. Correlation is not causation but I think it’s due to how much we all value and trust your opinions!
Oh wow! I've been told that before. I just find it hard to believe. I love sharing the stories that I find completely enjoyable.
Wow Omar, language. You kiss your Mother with that mouth!? 🤣 Thanks for sharing your list. It reminds me that I need to reread some of my books that are on your list. Keep up the great work, I'll be looking forward to your next video.
Where do you think I get it from? Wait... that's my father. :)
Hands down my most read is the Final Crisis TPB; it's the book that got me into comics in my 20's and what got me into writing
That is freaking awesome.
Omar, do you prefer to read the Giant Size XMen Omni or there X-men Classics Omni?
Mouse Guard doesn’t get enough love.
Uncanny X-men omni over Classic for sure.
The Court of Owls storyline is by far my most read book. I own it in a couple different formats but, I’d say the Absolute Edition is my most read. I can’t even count how many times I’ve read that story.
Love hearing that. It was such a damn good story.
Bootylicious storm always gets a thumbs up.
Always.
Batman The Long Halloween
Blackest Night
GL: Rebirth
That's because these were roughly the first graphic novels I ever got and bought with my own money, I read them to death, especially GL Rebirth as it was my first comic of Green Lantern and it's what got me into comics in the first place.
Great list, brother. First graphic novels hold special places in our hearts.
I really like the idea about my collection if it really represents me. Great idea.
my most read graphic novel, easily Blackest Night main story hardcover
I've read it that much, that my friend blindfolded me, picked out a page and asked me what was going on on the page. I got everything spot on, even the dialogue
second most read graphic novel, Batman: Hush. I love Jim Lee's artwork and the story
Superman: For Tomorrow, again with Jim Lee's artwork and the story
HAHAHA That is awesome that you can pick out a page.
I have the hush unwrapped its really nice
Man I loved that Scott McDaniel art.
Same.
2:00 wisest word, lad🤜🏻🤛🏻
FACT!
In no particular order -
New Avengers Omnibus, New X-Men Omnibus, Absolute Kingdom Come, Civil War OHC, Avengers by Hickman Omnibus volumes 1 and 2, Infinity by Hickman digitally (it's amazing in this format, esp Silver Surfer story), Age of Apocalypse Omnibus, Sam and Twitch Volume 1 OHC, X-Men Onslaught TPBs (read my singles over and over ... then got the trades ... and then the omni)
My man, I love your range on your list. I've only read Sam & Twitch one time. in that HC I used to have.
I love hearing that you lost count.
Flexing that Lane Wayne signature on UXM Omnibus!
He didnt correct me when I said his name as he signed my book. :)
thank you for this video i like your list so much..
You're welcome 😊 Thank you for watching.
Calvin and Hobbes is phenomenal. Great Choices. Thank you for watching.
I love grant Morrison’s Animal Man run. It’s super fun
“I think I made them sign some sort of contract in blood” hahahahaha
Ultimate Spider-Man: Power and Responsibility (easily 10+ times)
Foxtrot (scores of times, some portions more than others)
Calvin & Hobbes (again, scores of times, some portions more than others)
Ultimate X-Men: Blockbuster and New Mutants (4-6 times, all for David Finch's art)
Superman: Krisis of the Krimson Kryptonite (the first collected edition I got, read it many times, and dog eared the crap out of the pages)
Wolverine: The Brotherhood (7 times)
Parker: The Hunter (5 times)
New X-Men: Choosing Sides (4 times)
Spider-Girl: Legacy (5 times)
What If? Spider-Man Vs. Wolverine (10+ times. I really liked the Assassin Spider-Man suit)
what an amazing list. Love the fact you threw in Calvin and Hobbes in there.
You got a type of story and that's awesome. I need to round up a copy of Local as I've just read it in digital.
HUSH is on my favorites because of Jim Lee
Mouse guard! wow, amazing books for adults and kids, a true master piece.
It is so good.
Top 11! I forgot and only showed my top 10. Here’s number eleven:
DC Universe Rebirth/The Button (I just find myself picking them up and rereading it a few time’s a year.)
So impressed that you love MouseGuard - I love that - too bad he stopped doing those
I can’t believe it’s on hiatus.
My most read books are the crow, wanted, judge dredd the pit, judge dredd America, preacher
Great list!
@@NearMintCondition thanks
hit after hit with these vids, a vid on what are some good picks to give non comics readers could be cool, I have alot of people in my life who ive introduced them via some different books to varied degrees of success (sometimes its hard to separate my personal enjoyment due to my own familiarity with the medium if that makes sense) , so i'd be interested in your take on it
I would love to work on that video. Thank you.
Can you do a “most anticipated releases” video?
I sure can. For the rest of 2020?
Near Mint Condition yes!!!!
You could always do them separately like image, vertigo, ect ? I don’t know just a suggestion!
Check out Pat Mills Charlie’s War. With art by the late great Joe Calqohoun England’s greatest graphic artist. I think you’d like it.
Thank you sir. I will do that. And written down.
I read Final Crisis 8 times, completely. To understand it of course😊
LOL I think I read it four times.
@@NearMintCondition It's really enjoyable, no matter how many times you read it.
Was that Don Rosa who crossed out Walt Disney on 'The Life and Times of Scrooge Mcduck' cover page? lol
HAHAHAHA, yep! I've told that story on the channel before. That man is set in his ways!
Mouse Guard is grossly underrated. Really would love to see it get the CG animated treatment.
I hope he comes back and finishes it.
Invincible compendium 3 was the greatest graphic novel I have read so far
Why do collectors love lists so much? I have my own lists that I sit and adjust every few months, even though I’m the only person that reads them. We’re a weird bunch. I’ll post my list below.
Spider-Man by JMS vol 1
Batman and Robin by Grant Morrison
Flashpoint by Geoff Johns
Trial of Captain America by Ed Brubaker
Daredevil by Mark Waid vol. 1
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Omnibus
Flash New 52 Omnibus
Justice Leauge Origins
Batman Year One
The Dark Tower Gunslinger Born
Great list, brother! Love it. DT Gunslinger doesn't get enough love.
Invincible is tied with Bone as my favorite series of ALL TIME!!
