The Log Lady's final call to Hawk. It had me in tears. Such a sad story for a great actress that Lynch most tastefully was able to pay homage to before she died.

Nothing in twin peaks will be as memorable to me as the final scenes. Nothing will be as haunting and terrifying as "what year is this?" And Laura screaming. Love the new season so much. It was perfect. But that cherry pie scene, pure genius.

    • @ianross9738
      @ianross9738 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

NO DOUBT man. "What year is this?" is arguably the most haunting, DEVASTATING and yet also hugely satisfying final scenes of a revered TV show I've ever seen. One one hand I was thinking.. "Oh no... OH NO." and on the other, "Well, of course. PERFECT." It's not a happy ending whatsoever, and I sure as hell wasn't expecting one, even after ep 17. Absolutely perfect, nobody wins. Except maybe Ed & Norma *snifff*

Three of my favorite moments not included are (1) Rebekah Del Rio singing "No Stars" in the context of that episode, which was full of violence and darkness, (2) the end of the arm-wrestling scene where Ray materializes in the Black Lodge and the ring is picked up by a disembodied hand, and (3) the moment where Cooper loses Laura in the woods and "The World Spins" fades in. "I'm so sorry."

    This is so damn difficult, but, for me personally;
    1) Cooper wakes up. (can't really be anything else, can it?)
    2) The Woodsman does radio
    3) "We Live Inside a Dream'
    4) Mike does the chant
    5) Starting Positions
    6) Bad Coop meets Jeffries
    7) 'He's dead'
    8) HELLOOOOO
    9) The Muave Zone
    10) Sarah removes her face

Two moments that would have to be in my Top 10 would be the glass box/Mother appearance (seriously, that scene terrified me) and Hawk's final call from Margaret. That was one of the most touching scenes ever committed to video and the most heartfelt tribute to Coulson that Lynch could give. You could feel the love coming through it.

Well done! Your commentary is spot-on, and it's hard to argue with your selections. Just wanted to add that the one scene I found myself playing over and over was from the end of episode four, when Cole and Albert dismiss Tammy to discuss the situation. Bathed in blue light and uncertainty, their conversation capsulizes what viewers are thinking, and even manages to inject a little humor into the proceedings. Can't wait to re-watch the whole series on blu-ray.

I want to take a moment and appreciate the background score during (moment #7 here, Cooper's Farewell to Janey-E and Sonny Jim) the casino goodbye sequence. Not sure if this particular piece of music was used in the earlier seasons, but for this emotional moment it was completely and amazingly heartbreaking stuff, just perfection. I cannot imagine this scene without that achingly profound music. Once again, music becomes something extraordinary in the worlds of David Lynch. And I, a grown man, am once again reduced to a misty-eyed fanboy ... by a work of fiction, lol.
By the way, this countdown was a load of fun to watch. Nice job. What a daunting task it must've been to choose these moments! Thanks. :)

Did you see the interview of the Palmers Lynch did for that Missing Pieces DVD set? Grace Zabriskie acts just as creepy in that interview as she does in The Return.
I have to commend Grace Zabriskie, because I thought she was boring in the first series, and now she makes me sit on the edge of my seat when she's on screen. I really wish Ray Wise was featured more though!

Greetings from Germany. There were so many fantastic scenes in season 3. Some were so funny I had to laugh loud. Also the disturbance and rawness in others made me shiver. There also were scenes that made me cry. After all, I think, we must conclude that this season 3 was a masterpiece. Shoutouts and many thanks to David Lynch for a story, for feelings, no other conductor (I don´t wanna reduce Mr. Lynch to only a director) will ever be able to deliver to the public. I don´t think that there is a favourite scene for me cause there are so many. But the music gets me. It was just beautiful. And also the ending for me was perfect. Lights out! You all stay safe and be kind.

As much as I love the original series, to me this is far and beyond the pinnacle of Twin Peaks. I feel like the scenes collected here are only a fraction of so many amazing moments. My top 10:
    1. "What about the FBI?" - all that buildup, and finally the payoff was amazing
    2. Laura sees Cooper while talking to James. Made me appreciate FWWM even more.
    3. Silver mustang from parts 3/4. This is what made me fall in love with the series.
    4. The bomb exploding in ep 8 - the begging of something crazy
    5. Freddy telling the glove story to James. So out of place, that I loved it.
    6. Margaret saying goodbye. One of the most iconic characters.
    7. The glass box. So simple, and so effective.
    8. THIS IS WHAT WE DO IN THE FBI - this came out of nowhere. Maybe it means something more in the context of the ending?
    9. Seeing Albert with the morgue Lady
    10. Literally everything with Ike the Spike. Can't decide on a single scene

Bad Coop's conversation with the Jefferies kettle and Judy breaking out of the glass booth and killing the two hipsters were way up on my list. Both were vintage Lynch in making odd, mundane things incredibly creepy. Both were also very important to the overall universe of the story.
Gordon Cole's conversation with Bad Coop at the prison was another great one, very unsettling.

Hawk was one of the highlights of season 3 for me (and 1&2)... any given scene of him would be in my top 5, easily.

You did a great job, I think. 1 of my other favorites is when Doggie and son are playing catch. The son throws the ball and hits Doggie square in the head, and he just stands there motionless...haha

Great list! I'm just sad that the assassination attempt that was foiled by the back massage and the car horn lady didn't make it.

I just noticed something new. The arched ceiling in the realm of nonexistence, and also in Jeffries' room... that's actually the exact same arched area in Laura's bedroom where her dresser and diary were housed. Can't just be coincidence.

We'd be remiss not to mention:
1)Gordon,Albert,Tammy visiting Mr C in prison, and the ever so dark, but reminiscent "thumbs up" by the doppelganger.
    2) Mr C looking in the mirror at Yankton Prison, then the flashback to him and Bob in the lodge, laughing like monsters. Then the line "You're still with me, that's good".
    3) The diner scene with Mr C,Daria,Ray and Jack. And Mr C's Dyer need to make sure that Ray knows "I don't NEED anything.......I WANT".
Some of the greatest moment were centered around the doppelganger, much like the early years were centered around Agent Cooper. This was the dark irony. It's like Lynch took Twin Peaks, and turned it inside out.
