Portnoy and Petruccis playing has always have been the back bone of DTs sound, even this performance sounds more DTish then a lot of the more recent DT stuff

@2:30 - That's a very interesting way John has positioned the fingers of his picking hand, with all the fingers curled inwards. That's more of a Paul Gilbert kinda thing. But he returns to his standard way of picking after that section. I've never seen him do that before, I wonder why he suddenly felt the need to switch just for that section. 🤔
Actually this song was great even with the original drum machine playback, but it is great when John looks at Mike and they start riffing Paradig Shift, another look and the fill of the scale, then back to Gemini. Great chemistry!

I went to the show in Clearwater Florida, first time seeing Portnoy live and I gotta say I wasn't prepared for him to melt my brain the way he did
