Hey man I'm having issues with 04 prairie 700. It won't rev up it will idle fine. Hear Is what I have done to it so far.
      New fuel pump
      Put carbs off running quad
      Adjusted valve's
      Did compression test
      Did leak down test
      Tested coils
      New spark plugs
I just can't get it 😪 any ideas thanks in advance.

My kvf 650 was backfiring through the exhaust and the carbs . I put rebuild kit in carbs , new plugs and set valve clearance. Inlet on valves had no clearance. So I set at 5 thou . Started it but no different . Reassembled the air box and it is now running great . However I don’t know which part of what I did actually solved the problem . I’ve just read somewhere that the valves on these tighten up rather than go loose and you can then lose compression . Please can you tell me if this is correct and would this have caused my backfiring issue ? Love your vids from North Wales UK .

Awesome, glad I found you by accident. I just bought a BF 2 days ago. The more I get into it, the more I can tell it's been severely abused. It was coughing really bad, no 4x4, now I got a red light blinking. Don't know what that is. I guess the label
has worn away that tells what the lights are. Anyway, got my work cut out for me. If you get on it and, as you say, "give it the beans", it will nearly throw you off of it. Gotta love that quote! So, at least there's life in it still. Thanks bro liked, subsribed

Belt reset is easy. Unhook the 2 pin actuator plug on the belt cover. Under the seat find your grey plug. Plug it into the black connector and then the black into the grey. Turn on the key and the belt light should flash quickly and then settle down to a normal slow blink. Let it do that for 30 seconds. Plug everything in the way you had it and start the machine. Belt light reset.

It’s got good fuel flow that should be filling the carbs. The carbs looked really clean inside too when taken apart. with the machine running, spray some carb cleaner around the intake boots where the carbs join and on the head side. If it dies or you notice a change in idle you have an air leak. Also is your enrichner working properly? what do the plugs say? Rich and sooty? whitish lean.

I contacted EPI to ask about the clutch thinking that maybe it needed some type of adjustment the Gentleman walked me through it and things seem to be OK.
No it does not act like it is slipping the RPMs are not revving to the moon it’s just does not hit hard off the bottom and lacks top in speed. When I replace the spark plugs they Had tons of carbon buildup. Any leads you might have is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

So I just got my hands on an '08 Kawasaki teryx..I gave it a new set of plugs, new oil and oil filter along with an air filter. This one is carbed before they came out with the fuel injection. I feed it premium gas and starts takes a bit to warm up, but when it does it idles perfectly. My question is that I'll be going right along, it'll lose power and start to backfire. I shut it off wait a few minutes turn it back on and can go again, what's causing this. Also it seems to get pretty hot, do they run like that, or should I be changing the thermostat?...I've had Honda four-wheelers and worked on my own for years, but this Kawasaki has me stumped..

    • @HammerHeadGarage
      @HammerHeadGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Hey Brad. Sounds like an ignition problem. Test the coil it may be failing when things heat up. Also just run regular gas, dont need premium. Also make sure the valves are adjusted and the spark plugs are not black (fouled). They should not run hot. Does the fan come on? if not your fan relay, motor or thermo switch is bad. Check the fuse first.

Love the tip bro would the fuel pump recommendation be the same here in New Zealand in regards to getting it out of a different vehicle such as the wrangler? I have the 2007 kvf650 and it's doing that limiter sound... the local mechanic said the carby and motor was fine as it idles and starts ok it just won't full throttle and makes that limiter sound every time I try to full throttle driving? I tried the factory reset and it kind of worked for like half an hour but now it's doing it again...? Local mechanic said to bypass it by rewiring or cutting the wire at the computer or on the wire loom somewhere where ever that needs to be to stop it from limiting? On the flip side I will do this fuel test now though just to see if it is the fuel pump 😎

I had it sitting for about a year or 2 I started working on it and I’m at the point where it will turn on and idle fine but when i give it Half throttle or more it pops in the carb and wants to die. A bike with old gas in it for 2 years will need the fuel system totally cleaned. Clean the carb again in an ultrasonic cleaner. the fuel turns to varnish and this is what is likely your problem.

1st off thanks for the knowledgeable vidoe(s) new subscriber here. My questions are, will that fuel pump from RockAuto work for the application of a 2010 Kawasaki Teryx 750 fi? My son did the oil change on our Teryx while I was at work & put 4 quarts in when it was only supposed to be 2.7, he drove the damn thing & oil started spitting out the exhaust smoking from exhaust + the gear shifter box he turned off the T-rex once he noticed which didn't take long, now the damn thing runs sluggish as a tortoise/backfires. The plugs were fouled- I changed them out but still running sluggish, the fuel filter was dirty as heck replacing that as well, now I'm going to check the spark arrestor may end up totally removing it. Your thoughts please.

Good morning Mr hammer head I have a question my 07 brute force 650i Vtwin my neutral light sometimes doesn’t work sometimes it does but when it don’t it leaves me stranded. Yes my adjustment seems to be on point and adjusted good is their a neutral switch somewhere ? I know it’s a dumb question but idk where it’s at I don’t have a book. Any suggestions from u would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance

Yes there is a neutral switch. Its located at the top of the left engine cover near the rear of the cover. Check the wiring. Often the wiring has a short in it. Otherwise just replace it.

Well there is something up. FUEL, AIR, COMPRESSION
Go back to the basics. DO a Compression and Leakdown test. What reading are you getting on the coils? Has the heads been off or cams out recently?

where the pump plugs into the top there is a little screen. Did you bend a nail and poke a hole in it? Sometimes this fixes the issue.
