Brute Force 750 Fuel Filter / Strainer Replacement - Loss of Power Fixed

  • Changing the fuel filter / strainer on a 2014 Brute Force 750 - The brute force was cutting out and backfiring past half throttle. I started noticing this at around 2500 miles. The tank was pretty clean. Thinking it was dirty fuel.
    I found the replacement part for the brute force online for anywhere between 12 and 20 bucks. This seems to have fixed the problem. Follow along for other ATV DIY Repairs

    I bet my 09 could use a new fuel sock! It has less than 200 hours but it set for a long period of time at my dad's. Got it back and was running rough until I put some Lucas fuel injector cleaner in the gas. Seems to have a little trouble cranking still though and this might explain it. Helpful video sir!

    This worked for me on my 2016 brute force at 1000 miles. WTF why do they clog so easy? Saved me money. I only had to pop off the bottom part of my pump to access filter. It looked just like the video! $15 bucks for 3 filters.

      KC3FSX I subscribed! I actually can tell the difference in power by changing that filter and installing new plugs. I don't won't it but I'm fixing to install a radiator relocation kit now, you need to do a video on installing one lol

    • @NickPixelTV
      @NickPixelTV  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Leon McGhee I did the plugs and filter and i feel like I got back like 15 horsepower when first got the quad it was snappy. The filter and plugs brought that back. Def worth checking that filter from time to time. I pre-filter my fuel now just in case. As far as the moving the radiator.. it has been on my list but haven't gotten to it yet. I just try to clean it out after riding. Thanks for the sub

      +KC3FSX that's so true about the 15hp! Big different after changing all that! I clean my radiator before a ride and afterwards but it still a problem after running through water,mud and dust lol. I rode the Hatfield McCoy trail last year and that's when I realized I need to move the radiator up top smh..many miles from your cabin with a overheating atv isn't fun lol. I have a 2009 750 brute force. It seems like it only has about half throttle. When I first start it it seems ok but the longer it runs the worse it gets and it has been sputtering a bit as well. I went back to zero ethanol fuel hoping that was the problem but no. I had a bad plug once and changed them both to the iridium plugs. Are these the same symptoms you had? Thanks for the video. Hopefully its the direction I have to go. Sadly i am not the mechanic that you are though.

    It's scary how much junk can come right out of the gas station pump. I fill up 5, 5 gallon cans when I go out, and there is always some crud floating around in the gas. The stations are supposed to clean their storage filters routinely, but most don't do it. Some don't do it at all.

    • @NickPixelTV

      Thank you. Ti stimo molto - I think maybe after you replace everything the last part is the reset. In the there is an adapter that you jumper the two pins to reset the computer. that may help you. Should be information on Google as well on how to reset computer and flashing light. I think I showed it in this video if the KVF is the same setup. Cheers!!

  • @bowhntr1210
    @bowhntr1210 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I considered that. But most pumps that Im familiar with ( pond pumps, sump pumps, well pumps ) take a lot of abuse before failing. As long as you use some caution refueling and use some common sense storing the bike, ie fuel stabilizer..... But then common sense might be to just replace the darn screen in the pump! I was just trying to think of a solution where it would be much more convenient to service and more cost efficient.

    • @NickPixelTV
      @NickPixelTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bow Hunter i hear ya.. the new screen is cheap. Just a pain to get to esp. cause the mud gets caught between the tank and the bottom of the electrical tray. I pre-filter all my fuel tanks now and the quad has been running great so far.

    • @bowhntr1210
      @bowhntr1210 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Such as ......? Using a paint cone/filter or something similar?

    How hard was it to pull off all the Plastics to access everything

    • @NickPixelTV
      @NickPixelTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ryan, it isn’t too bad. Pull the rear rack and back plastic. Take the screws out of the electrical tray and flip it over. If you’re used to working on a machine can be done probably in like 20 mins give or take. You having the same problem?

  • @bowhntr1210
    @bowhntr1210 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Just wondering....... why couldn't you reassemble the fuel pump minus the filter and put an inline filter somewhere that is more accessible?

    • @NickPixelTV
      @NickPixelTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Bow Hunter so that strainer is directly connected to the pump itself.. i think it prevents the debris from ruining the pump itself or getting into the pump. Putting an inline filter would catch everything after it has already gone through the pump.. your thoughts?
